I know. I found this one this morning and am still shaking my head at the idea that not hosting the books but giving links to them and urging people to them is somehow okay. Rolling eyes. In whose universe?
Then again, a lot of the braggarts I've seen overseas saying "I don't have to follow US law." have forgotten Berne Treaty and what that says. If you are in a Berne country, you DO have to follow the copyright laws of other Berne countries. I have to follow UK laws for their works, for instance.

I read an interesting article about the law on "secondary copyright infringement". See
http://www.law.columbia.edu/law_schoo...\
Entities that actively induce copyright infringement are presumed to have intended the consequences of their actions. Unintentional infringers are held to
a far less strict standard.
In other words, if this blogsite owner knows that what she is doing is infringement, she is legally liable.
Some have alleged that she is sending "free book seeking" traffic to a file sharing site that pays a commission to the referrer for every visitor they send.
So, she is in business for profit.

(PIRACY-ACCESSORY-BEFORE-AND-AFTER-THE-FACT) are not involved in any business with files on the site. We do not encourage any one to distribute or use part or full content on this site. We take no liability for any damages or problems to your computer from the files.
This accessory before and after the fact to criminal activity has posted a copyright symbol on her blog. She has also posted copyrighted book cover art and back cover copy... so she has, in fact, posted copyright infringing files and pictures on her blog.
Her name, by the way, is not "PIRACY-ACCESSORY-BEFORE-AND-AFTER-THE-FACT", I've simply called her that because I would like to share this example of a problem, but not increase her traffic.
She's posted links to works by Dan Brown, John Grisham, Cindy Dees, Brenna Lyons, Amanda Ashley.... hundreds of hard working, talent authors.
Among the NAPSTER lawsuits was a judgment that sites whose business model depend upon illegal activity are legally responsible and can be prosecuted or sued.
So, there is a precedent.
Meanwhile, readers, if you see "third party sites" and "popular sources on the internet" that is just code to trick you into thinking that everything is safe, legal and above board.
It's not.
