Use this thread if you are reading through the book and you want to talk about it. For example, if you are anything like me, if something crazy happens in a book I always want to talk about it right after it happens! It's also nice to discuss with others who are reading through it. Please make sure at the top of every thing you post you have a SPOILER warning and say up to what page you are on.

I had a friend who gave me this book to borrow and have not yet read it. That was about 3 years ago. He was one of my best friends and he gave me a few books that I had to read as they were meaningful to him. Since then, we had a falling out and we really don't speak at all...which is really sad to me because he was a great friend. Anyways, I have had this book on my shelf and putting it off because I get upset thinking about this friendship that was lost. BUT..I'm still intrigued to see why he wanted me to read it.

I found this book in the bargain section of Barnes and Noble so I think I paid $4 for it. I just started reading it this afternoon...it was such a nice day for sitting outside and reading. I've gotten through the first three stories.

***Possible Spoiler***

A Good Man Is Hard To Find turned out to be a completely different story than I thought it was going to be. For some reason I thought it was going to be a love story. Not sure why I thought that.

Tahleen Oh man, lol. Must have been a shock as it went on... Yeah, not really what one would call a love story!

Jen (wishesandwanderlust) | 696 comments I think I thought it was going to be a love story because of the title. So I thought a woman was having trouble finding a good man...but in a romantic way? haha I have no clue what I was thinking. I was very suprised how the story progressed!

***Spoiler***

I don't get why the grandmother or the children's mother didn't make a bigger commotion after the Misfit's men shot the father and son. The children's mother seemed to be in shock, but the grandmother kept talking to the Misfit.

Tahleen **Spoiler**

I thought she did kind of make a big deal about it. Plus, I'm sure they were all terrified. Not sure. I read it a while ago.

Jen (wishesandwanderlust) | 696 comments I'm not really enjoying these stories. It's starting to feel like a chore picking up the book. But I feel like I should like the stories because so many other people do.

Tahleen We studied Southern gothic in high school and I remember a little bit; there was always a fall, and then some sort of redemption at the very end. I think that's why I do like them so much, because of their wtf quality.
