According to the official @1b1t2010 twitter account, the big read starts tomorrow.
They're supposed to be posting some kind of "reading schedule" (this is supposed to take place over the next 6 weeks or so, so they were talking about doing maybe 3-ish chapters per week?) but it hasn't been posted yet. I'll put a link here as soon as I see it.

The goal is to read the book, the dates are really more of a guideline for the #1b1t discussion on Twitter (so as not to ruin the book for anyone). I think it's worth following here, too, although I may find it hard to not plow through the entire book at once.

I just finished Chapter 3 this morning. I'm really trying to pace myself through this book instead of speeding through like I usually do, because I just get the sense that there's so much I have to pick up on that I will miss if I read at my usual speed.
So far I'm enjoying it a lot (which of course is making it harder for me to pace myself).
I was completely weirded out by the Bilquis scene (I think that was at the end of chapter 1?). I think it's safe to assume that Bilquis might be some kind of succubus (not sure if that's going to be important at any point or if we're just witnessing random gods and mythical creatures for no reason other than to know they are there - I'm going to assume though that she will be important later, or at the very least appear again).

I read it back when it came out. I'm pretty sure I was still in high school, and my girlfriend at the time turned me on to Gaiman. American Gods is definitely among my favorites from him, and reminds me of the other work of his I cherish, the Sandman comic series put out under the Vertigo label if memory serves.
I've also read the, um..., follow-up?, Anansi Boys. I didn't care for it as much, but it was still worth the read.
Glad you are enjoying the book thus far!

Will they be doing this all throughout the summer, or was it only for May?
I don't know how many of you have heard about this, but I thought some of you might be interested!
