You sound like my best friend!!! I think that you are completely and utterly crazy! Maybe you should try them again! My friend hated reading when she read the first few, but now she likes to read so she's going to try and read them again.

This is NOT a stupid book thank you very much, and the point of it is to be entertaining and fun to read and give the reader a chance to imagine a whole new world full of magic. Not my fault if you don't have an imagination

I find it quite funny how this thread has over 3k replies. One kid says she hates a book and everyone comes running. I personally dislike Twilight and Eragon, without even reading them, or at least in concerns of Eragon not even the entire first book. But since I can back up my reasons you probably won't come after me, will you, guys? :)
Nope! I personally didn't like Eragon that much, either. I haven't read Twilight, and I do not plan to! But this person gives no good reasons at all for hating these books!!!

Read Eragon since that was brought up. It was okay for what it was, but I won't go around saying "Oh it's the best book ever written." Nah it's like a guilty pleasure for me. XDAnd the word hater...man how much I dislike that word as a whole. I hear it everyday non stop. I dislike stuff, unless we're speaking Twilight, then I will say I despise it to a full extent.

Ya know, you don't need to call everyone idiots just because they like Harry Potter. You can disagree, but honestly "Everyone who reads harry Potter are idiots"? Not really. It's kinda rude to say that dude. Just say you don't like it. I, for one, LOVE Harry Potter. I don't think I'm the only one, either. ;) It's boss! :)
You are NOT the only one!! Have you noticed how 3/4 of the people on this discussion think that that first person is CRAZY!? Me being one of them, by the way.
Something that is really getting to me about this "discussion" is that many people are so adamant in their belief that a book is trash if it does not have "substance", "value", etc. I find Harry Potter to be a great book, not because the writing is outstanding, not because I learned a lesson, not because I gained anything from it other than enjoyment, a smile, something to share with others, something to be excited about. I recall staying up past midnight to read these books because they were one of the few things that could paint a smile on my face. And those are my thoughts on this matter.

yeah i dont know a lot of spanish either (my por favor was random too) but I'm taking a Spanish class at school :) and most ppl do like hp, but have you noticed the ones who don't like hp don't have a reason for it?

Yeah, usually. And I've never taken spanish class, but both my parents are almost fluent in spanish, so I pick it up here and there. But I do not like to hear people who don't like Harry Potter unless they have good reasons.

well that happens with all books. Hunger Games Twilight, etc. Nothing new. But dont you think you should rate the book on the actual book and not the fans?

A legit one? Fine. I use to like it but now that I have grown up I just don't.
People can have perfectly legitimate reasons for disliking any book, be it disliking the genre in general, the writing style, the story, it being trite, it being contrived. There are many reasons for someone disliking a book, and they're all perfectly legitimate. And also, when someone states these reasons for disliking any given book, if the fans of the book jump on them, screaming that they're wrong, then it just compounds and exacerbates the feeling of dislike. Whatever opinion anyone has of a book, it is not wrong, because each person is entitled to their opinion, and jumping on them for it (in either direction, whether its telling them they're wrong for liking it, or wrong for disliking it)without then backing up your reasons ("you're wrong, its awesome" does not count, btw) and outright telling them they're wrong, is inappropriate behaviour, whereas saying that you don't like it, and saying why, is never inappropriate. If you disagree with someone remain polite, and put forward your point of view WITHOUT telling them they're wrong for holding theirs. The potter books are average, they get people reading, which is their best attribute, but there are far better books out there. Whatever people want to think of the books, they're entitled to think it, and due to free speech, they're entitled to express that in person or online, without being attacked for their opinion.
My main issue with the OP is not that they hate the books, but that they don't give their reasons for disliking it in a reasoned and rational way.
