Does anyone else besides me hate Harry Potter?

I am very proud of you. Nah I'm kidding. But seriously, that was super cool

Tbh i think a lot of people realise that this is a troll or a kid, but either way people love a good argument and they love to tell others how ignorant they think they are. You just gotta let people have their fun, even if that is by ranting on the internet.
Natalie wrote: "Ruby I love your avatar. :D Sherlock is amazing! Sorry just say it and went OMG!"No it's fine. I love Sherlock too. Literally, I fantasize over Benedict Cumberbatch. He's sooo beautiffffulllllll
Kayla wrote: "The stupid book has no point at all! Only complete idiots would read Harry Potter!"Okay, THAT'S a little unfair. There ARE certain people that simply enjoy fantasies with well-developed characters and the likes, so I wouldn't set the stereotype that every person who has read the series is to autmoatically be considered an "idiot."
But, I digress. I much do not like it myself; I read the entire first one, and then lost interest completely halfway through the second. Perhaps my lack of interest in all this weird, author-deviated whimsical carrying on plays a roll in that, but I couldn't force myseld to read the series.
Although the J.K.'s literary skills evolved over the years, the first few books were written quite childishly, and I didn't think ANY of the characters were all that likeable. The antagonists were my favorites. -_-'

watch the language plz... kids look at things like this... my son came to me after looking here and i wasn't to happy when i found this foul language in front of his eyes... my son is very sad right now... thanks to you
Stefanie wrote: "watch the language plz... kids look at things like this... my son came to me after looking here and i wasn't to happy when i found this foul language in front of his eyes... my son is very sad right now... thanks to you"If your son is too young to hear adult words, then he shouldn't be on the internet, or at least a book forum open to all ages, where censorship is frowned upon, and language of any variety is welcome.
If your son is "sad" at a word (think about it, a fucking word), then maybe you haven't adequately informed him as to what words are.
Will wrote: "Stefanie wrote: "watch the language plz... kids look at things like this... my son came to me after looking here and i wasn't to happy when i found this foul language in front of his eyes... my son..."do you have kids?
??? Here comes the foul language shit again. :/ What is this...like the 3rd time or so. For all I can say...the internet is a place of harsh and crude behavior.
"Stefanie wrote: "watch the language plz... kids look at things like this... my son came to me after looking here and i wasn't to happy when i found this foul language in front of his e..."Sorry but you don't get to control other people, only your child, if you don't want him upset limit his internet access to children's sites. Goodreads is not, nor does it pretend to be, a children's site or family friendly so don't complain when it's not, your recourse is to not come here.
Before you ask I have two kids and they are not permitted on anything other than kids sites without supervision.
Will wrote: "Remember kids, words are just that, words."It's true that they're only words, however, they can alienate you from those around you, and seriously insult people, intentionally or unintentionally. Plus, some of them put things in your head that are inappropriate.
...I'm enjoying reading this. On one hand, we're having a little debate on cussing and on the other, we have people talking about the books...Although, for the swear words, I must say that a) Goodreads is not a site for young children, and b) everyone has a right to language.
Stefanie wrote: "Wow anyone who doesn't like the books never read them... it's pathetic how many people don't like Harry Potter... My little brother hasn't read the books and still loves it... it takes skill not to..."My brother read up to the 2nd book...he hates Harry Potter...A friend of mine read 3 of the books...She hates HP...Your point is? How is them not liking Hp pathetic?
Jojo wrote: "soo stupid!!! if u don't like harry potter then why did u read the books?"If I don't like the first book in a series, I will most likely read the other books, just to see if the series gets better. Take Twilight for example hated the first book, tried the rest. Bad Idea...

But you know... thats your own opinion!! :/"If you want to know from ONE person why they hate HP, I do because I think the characters are unlikeable, the books are written childishly, the plots are unrelatable, and the entire series' concept is far to fantastical, but no matter which way ANYONE looks at it, just about everything that's been said in this thread so far has been entirely opinonated. Including the previous remark I just made on MY judgement of the book.
Which is why I stand true to the belief that we should all realize everyone is different, heretofore capable of having their own preferences, and get along.
how can you hate the best book/movie series in the world? if everybody has there own opinion then there opinion should be that they LOVE Harry Potter! its been selling for about 10 years!! (my opinion is that it should be against the law to hate Harry Potter but that's just my opinion)

I read Harry Potter and I'm smartest in my class so it doesn't mean were idiots

lol @ ella thanks . Ok this thread is really opinion we can't change what we like and what we don't like. But we can have a open mind about books and movies and other stuff. Like me saying i don't like something or I like something don't make me a bad person just not my cup of tea so to speak. And that is right but every harry potter book is different its not all the same he finds out more about his parents. Just cause u don't like the first book don't mean ur gonna hate the rest of the books (again my opnion.
Ella wrote: "how can you hate the best book/movie series in the world? if everybody has there own opinion then there opinion should be that they LOVE Harry Potter! its been selling for about 10 years!! (my opin..."Really? That is one of the most idiotic things that I have heard.
"there own opinion" I hate grammatically incorrect phrases *twitch* But that's what I love about human society. It's that opinion that separates everyone from being alike. And when you say "were idiots" that's we're...I hate these simple errors. Can't help but be irked by it. XD
first off do NOT corrrect me second grrrr ur on a site with ppl who love harry potter there for we are saying its the best in the world!!
I wasn't correcting you. :/ And sorry...I'm a major in English literature. So yes it's nice to see good use of the English language. Sorry. And I'm sorry, I like Harry Potter a lot, but to me it's not the best in the world.
But honeslty, why call people idiots for not liking a book? Maybe it's just not their thing? Maybe they are more of a horror or romance book type of person? Maybe they grew bored after a couple of books?
oh ok natalie and good for you about being a english literature. i am dyselxic so i don't always use english correctly i try to i really do. to me its the best i reallly haven't found a series like hp that i like more. (not calling ppl idiots u are who u are u can't change that)
Ahhh that's fine. I was just like o_O what did I do this time kind of idea. Honestly I don't even know what my favorite book series is. I don't know. I give up.
While I love the HP books, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Maybe I don't agree with that, but who am I to tell other people how to think?
Katrina wrote: "It's true that they're only words, however, they can alienate you from those around you, and seriously insult people, intentionally or unintentionally. And all sorts of things can alienate me from other people, and honestly, if someone doesn't want to be around me because of a word, then I don't want them around me (unless it's used as an insult, which is understandable, but still childish).
I honestly highly dislike Harry Potter. I started to read one of the books I found when I was rummaging through some stuff and within like an hour I was already starting to fall asleep. I don't like Harry Potter.
I've always had a strong distaste for Harry Potter. The first book was alright, but as Rowling's popularity grew and the books became a pop culture icon, the books started to decrease in quality. This is probably because editors were less likely to try to correct Rowling--I mean, she did have the formula for a best-selling series. However, I feel that the sequels didn't get the same editorial treatment the first book did. Some books feel like they should've ended halfway through.
