Hahaha...see I'm guilty I say that word a lot to people who are mean, not b/c they're gay. When I grew up...that word was almost like calling someone a dickhead or such or an asshole...not pertaining to gay peoples. And it's also kind of odd how the subjects change very quickly in this group.
This is a discussion about harry potter please do not swear!
Because this is a website to talk about books not a website to use innapropriate language aka bad words
Ya know what...here's the thing...telling me to stop swearing is almost like telling me to stop talking. I'm sorry, but I have become immune to those words. I grew up in the ghetto, and it was almost like something I grew up with...to me it's just how I am. Damn...at least I'm not going so far as to tell people to f off...
I didny mean to like tell you to stop talking so sorry!
See I'm not mean...it's just sadly normal for me. I do restrain myself on here though, b/c I know people hate it, and I really try, but sometimes it's a slip, and I screw up. Like I always do...but hell, I'm not mean, just grew up in the wrong place is all, and went through a bad childhood. :)Sorry if I seem defensive too...I'm like that as well. XD
Well I don't mind because this website is for discussing and if you think swearing will get your opinion across than go ahead.

Well, i personally like harry potter, and if u say people who read it are idiots, then, you, are calling a lot (i don't know how many, c the books' stats and how many copies its sold) like, a million, people idiots

I agree...
I agree...
a "fag" is also a spicy meatball in England.
I'm not the target audience for either series. HP is for kids, and Twilight is for 'tweens. So I'm not surprised that they're not my cup of tea. Why trash a series that was not written for me? To each her own.
Well yeah, HP is good from the start. It just gets more along the lines of more mature as the series progresses with more death and war than the previous ones. I'm not saying it was bad at the beginning...since it was amazing to me.
It is good writing...yes with some flaws, but like any good author her writing increases as the books go along.
Just some friendly advice. Every one here is entitled to have their opionion. No need to insult each other and say hurtful things. :-) Feel the love.

I dont like HARRY POTTER!!!!! Its scary
Whoever made this post is the idiot. Certain people like certain things. I don't care if you hate the series, but to bash on the people who enjoy it? You must be out of your mind to even make this thread (and I'm out of mind to reply to it). We love the HP series because J.K. Rowling created a world for us. The HP series saved my life, it really did and it saved thousands of other people. It also saved Evanna Lynch (the woman who played Luna Lovegood). I'm not going to sit here and write about why Harry Potter's amazing because it will take me days to finish, but you should really think about what you're posting to the millions of people who love it.
Natalie wrote: "It is good writing...yes with some flaws, but like any good author her writing increases as the books go along."HEr entire aim was to make the writing suitabke for the age group each book was aimed at, so the writing gets more sophisticated as it goes along in line with the increasing age of her audience. Her idea was that the people reading it would be the same age (ish) as the kids in the book. As such, within those parameters, its good writing, in fact its really quite clever how the books mature with their audience.
That said, I don't like JK Rowling herself. She ran into some friends of mine who were roleplaying, and claimed that she was responsible for that subculture. Stupid woman.

How old are you?!!-3?

It's ok to have your own opinion on Harry Potter, but you don't have to say everyone who reads it is an idiot. I started reading Harry Potter when I was 8 or 9, and I loved it. If what you stated in the first post of this topic is true, then many intelligent people are idiots. And with the true definition of an idiot, it's not possible for an intelligent, sensible person to be an idiot. That's totally contradicting. Right now, I'm 12, and even I can tell that Harry Potter is one of the most popular book series in the world. Harry Potter is read by kids, teen, and adults. I haven't heard of many modern books that have managed to hook such a wide range of audiences.

In my opinion, you are never too grown up for this series - it has many mature aspects to it, like the love between characters and the loss of a friend. Maybe this series just isn't your thing.

Not to be disrespectful, but this discussion is not worth the attention it has. If you would like to disrespect a best-selling author, feel free, but creating a whole discussion about how the best series of all time "stinks", is just a lazy show of lack of interest in real literature. Plus, none of the people in this discussion have shown any REAL proof about why they hate the book so much. So, if you can't back up your opinions, then you must not be as informed as you think you are.

I second that.
I second that.
Okay, I've heard of a fan club, which is used to share enthusiasm about something (book, music, film, etc.) but to hate something so much you make a forum just to slag off those who enjoy it and express your hatred towards it? Could you write a seven-book series, publish it and make millions of pounds out of doing so, have films made and related merchandise sold all over the world because of your stories?
If so, then I wish you luck in doing so. If not, then learn some respect. There is a reason J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series is so famous. No, you do not have to like the series, as we are all entitled to our own opinions. Nor do you have to read the series, or watch the films. So why complain?

I agree - everyone has their opinion, and I'm fine with it. But really - why start an argument about it?
