YES! SHUN THEM! THERE IS NO RESON TO CALL Us IDIOTS!!! WHATS THE *bleeping* POINT! NOW I AM DONE WITH THIS DISSCUSTION! BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE ARE

a. MAKING ME PISSED
b. INAPPROPRIATE TALK
c. DISSING OTHERS THOUGHTS
d. OFF TOPIC
e. CALLING ME AN IDIOT
f. DISRESPECTFUL
g. IMMATURE FOR THEIR AGE
h. NOT REALIZING THAT YOUNGER KIDS ARE ON GOODREADS
i. ARGUING

now if you'll excuse me, i have better disscusions to be on. i mean, ya, i van get mad, ya im off topic. but some of you are just being immature and/or gross. Im in middle school, and dont wanna be a part of this. Good Bye.

message 2353: by Nat (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nat What's gross about sexuality/whatever. Yes the emoticons of those things was inappropriate, but hell it's the internet. Not everyone is gonna be mature for their age on here...it's just the way life is. I'm not putting anyone down, but so far in this discussion what's going on now...it's pretty fun. I like the people on here, and enjoy talking to them.

message 2354: by Will (new) - rated it 3 stars

Will IV Equally as inappropriate as a bunny emoticon.

message 2355: by Nat (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nat Oh I liked the bunny emoticons...they were cute. :D But i guess I'm so use to somethings that are deemed inappropriate I just kind of shrug it off. XD

Uditi My mum does,
I don't.
She doesn't get it.
Her imagination is very small.
I love Harry Potter- so do all my friends.

Sohail Keegan I don't exactly hate it, but I can't exactly say that I like it, either. And that's saying a lot. The first book in the series is exactly how first books in any series should be. It is a stand-alone, and all the better for it.

Truth be told, when I was younger (read, when I first learned about Potter) I was mad about it. My cousins introduced me to it, and three books had been released at the time. I finished all of them in a matter of weeks. But looking back, the themes are rather simplistic although eternal. Harry never really acted purely out of rage, or for vengeance. He never even had to consider it. All he ever got to was 'righteous anger'.

So yeah, while I don't think the series is great (with the exception of the first book), I wouldn't say I hate it, either.

Ashok Just came here to say I don't dislike Harry Potter, however I am not happy that JK Rowling made out snakes to be evil. Sure they are trouble etc, but I really don't want to see an entire generation of future citizens growing up hating or disliking or fearful of snakes.

Nagini - is Sanskrit / Hindi for 'snake woman', or 'snake princess' or 'snake goddess' etc. And I am from India, and both my parents ancestral homes had a corner of the land marked as 'snake temple' and left to the nature, to overgrow and to be wild, and err, natural. It was a great sanctuary for wildlife, and snakes of course. We have great respect for snakes, as they are just as entitled to roam the world like every other being, and with a series as popular as Harry Potter, JK Rowling might have done some serious damage to snake specie's future.

Mas5thgrade2012 I love harry potter, and maby it's your oppinon to hate it. I know a lot of people who like it and hate it!

Nat I don't think anyone is gonna get affected by Nagini. I grew up with HP and b/c of Nagini I started to like snakes. I even had a pet snake named after her. A lot of people I know tolerate snakes...they don't hate them. And snakes are portrayed as evil in a lot of media. There's really nothing wrong with it. Other animals are seen as evil sometimes, and I don't hate them either. Some people are just superstitious or just don't like them. My step-dad doesn't like snakes just b/c he says they look creepy, and just have that look about them that he hates.

Tjala have you actually read the books??

message 2370: by Dave (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dave Jones I don't hate Harry Potter however, after reading the first book, I wonder what all the fuss is about. It was ok but not to the extent that would justify Pottermania.

Alpha Dave wrote: "I don't hate Harry Potter however, after reading the first book, I wonder what all the fuss is about. It was ok but not to the extent that would justify Pottermania."

Its a preference that so happens to be popular at the time. Once again there are 6 billion people on this planet and well...you get it.

Midnights No, no one else.

message 2376: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow I really love this book!!! I love the series actually!!!!! The movies are great but the books are way better!!!! Who agrees?

message 2377: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah i know right

message 2378: by Will (new) - rated it 3 stars

Will IV Kenna,

"Damnit" is just a word. Do you think there's a difference between the word "dangit" and "damnit?" Have you read the Bible? There are much, much worse things in it.

To suggest I censor myself because someone might be offended by a word is not only wrong, but arrogant.

Thanks.

message 2379: by Nat (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nat Wow...I'm not saying bad words are good...but trust me, once you get out in the 'real world' you are going to hear so much shit that you'll have to get use to it. Do you think I enjoy being cussed out by customers at work? No I don't, but I deal with it. Bad words are a part of our language and freedom of speech plays well into this. And like Will said...the Bible does have a lot of things wrong in it...a lot of bad language and such. Yes I have read said Bible cover to cover I should know. :)

message 2383: by Will (last edited Dec 04, 2011 10:41AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Will IV Excuse me, but the Bible is full of rape and murder, often carried out under the instruction of God, it instructs parents to stone their children to death if they don't obey (read Deuteronomy 21:18–21), it advocates slavery and instructs the Israelites on how to own slaves, how much they cost, how to keep them as your slaves, etc., it talks about sending people to Hell to be tortured for eternity. Do you think you would be able to actually watch a person being beaten and tortured? How about for eternity? Doesn't sound very nice to me. In fact, that sounds pretty bad. Are you sure you've read the Bible?

message 2384: by Nat (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nat I've read the Bible at least twice...so I should know what I'm talking about. My family is Catholic...but I'm not. So yeah born under this whole thing with the Bible.

message 2385: by Hazel (last edited Dec 04, 2011 11:35AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Hazel wills right, the bible is full of stories that have god advocating rape, incest, genocide, murder, child sacrifice and slavery. Luckily, its as much a work of fiction as Harry Potter, so we don't have to adhere to anything within its hate strewn pages.

ANyone who claims that the bible is about Jesus has obviously only read the new testament. WHich is just basically a big get out clause for not being able to live up to the laws of the old testament.

However, this is a harry potter thread, and thats a half decent read.

message 2386: by [deleted user] (new)

Its ok I thought we were supposed to be talking about Harry Potter!!

message 2387: by [deleted user] (new)

Will IV (*Kenna Bear*) wrote: "WThey do not get tortured or beaten!! Because Heavenley father loves EVERYONE. They are just spirets in the H word forever. And it tells us about history. These things have to happen in order to live with Heavenley father again. Yes I have read EVERY page. Do you go to church and learn even more then you learn in the Bible. Even if they did get tortured and beaten we would not see it happening. And do you think that they deserve going to the H word, I think so if they have been that bad. You need to do lots of really bad stuff in order to go there!"

Oh boy, we've got an indoctrinated cherry-picker on our hands.

message 2392: by Nat (new) - rated it 5 stars

message 2393: by Will (new) - rated it 3 stars

Will IV I'm sorry if suddenly facts are mean.

message 2394: by Nat (new) - rated it 5 stars

Anyways I'm done...I don't want to say something I will regret later on.
