Found it on dictionary.com:Argumentum ad populum
In logic, an argumentum ad populum (Latin for "appeal to the people") is a fallacious argument that concludes a proposition to be true because many or most people believe it; it alleges: "If many believe so, it is so."
This type of argument is known by several names,[1] including appeal to the masses, appeal to belief, appeal to the majority, argument by consensus, consensus fallacy, authority of the many, and bandwagon fallacy, and in Latin as argumentum ad numerum ("appeal to the number"), and consensus gentium ("agreement of the clans"). It is also the basis of a number of social phenomena, including communal reinforcement and the bandwagon effect. The Chinese proverb "three men make a tiger" concerns the same idea.

Loopman31 wrote: "I Heard harry potter is about wizards. That is highly impractical. wizard are not real"o_O What.....please tell me you're trolling
Ya know I read facetious horribly wrong. XD I thought it said faucetious...I was like "what's that?" I'm a dork...
Will wrote: "It's called being facetious, people."I might believe he is being facetious if, after joining in 2010, he reviewed some books or even added some to his read list. As he has done neither, I'm going for troll.
I am not allowed to read those things because they are regarded as "evil" in my household and school

Where the frick did she get that idea!? And you said your school is telling you this too?! What planet did you come from? I don't get it, how are these books, in any way, evil?
Loopman31 wrote: "That is what my mother said.":/ I think your mom needs to read the books before she says anything.
Loopman31 wrote: "I am not allowed to read those things because they are regarded as "evil" in my household and school"Quick, box up your computer and take it back to the store because the Internet is evil!
Loopman31 wrote: "That is what my mother said."Why listen to your mom!? Why don't you try reading the books yourself?
Arti wrote: "Yeah, has your mom read the books? or just the reviews?"And has she read reviews from all types of reviewers or just closeminded (christian) ones?
Arti wrote: "That is actually the first time I've heard that a parent has not allowed their child to read HP"I've heard of tons of kids who aren't allowed to read Harry Potter. I've even known a few. There's more of them out there than you might think.
See, personally i am scared to read the book because of the nasty and horrible things my guardians said about them
Nothing about the books are nasty...or horrid. I think you're talking about Steven King in that aspect. Your parents probably never read the books...
But i do not want to disobey my parents. The book is about which craft which is regarded as an evil in my household. I think my mother does not want me to practice which craft
Anne wrote: "my mom wont let my brother read passed the 4th one. but then again he is only in 4th grade"what's so bad about 5-7? I read up to the 6th one before I hit 4th grade and the only reason I didn't read the 7th one then too is because it hadn't been published yet.
Loopman31 wrote: "But i do not want to disobey my parents. The book is about which craft which is regarded as an evil in my household. I think my mother does not want me to practice which craft"Doesn't she trust you to make your own decisions? By preventing you from reading it, she's basically saying she doesn't think your strong enough to resist whatever evils she thinks are in the books. And by the way, you should try doing something your parents don't approve of every once in a while, it's very liberating. And I'm not saying you should drink, have sex or do drugs, but maybe you could read books, watch movies and tv shows (but not porn!) that your parents don't really approve of and take a peak at how the rest of the world thinks or lives. Close-minded people like your mother are what is ruining this country, what has always ruined this country, even back when some the founding fathers owned slaves. Just think about...do you want to end up exactly like your parents?...or do you want to be a slightly better person than they are? Becuase noboby's perfect, and it's our job as the youth of the world to improve on the ideology, morals and mindset of the generation before us.
Loopman31 wrote: "But i do not want to disobey my parents. The book is about which craft which is regarded as an evil in my household. LAWL. Nerds. What if JK Rowling saw this and looked at everyone hating on her book? What if someone came up to you and told you they hated you, thought you were ugly, or hated your freaking personality? These books are pretty amazing. You can actually relate to all the characters in one way or another. Even the teachers make you think back to school days!
So if you think it doesn't have a point, get over it and read something else. If you don't like it, no one freaking cares.
"What if JK Rowling saw this and looked at everyone hating on her book?"The planet would continue to travel around the sun in an ellipses, and she probably couldn't care less what anyone think of her books as she swims about in her tens of millions of dollars she's made of off them.
"What if someone came up to you and told you they hated you, thought you were ugly, or hated your freaking personality?"
I would laugh and walk away, but what does this have to do with anything?
"So if you think it doesn't have a point, get over it and read something else."
Yeah, no one should be allowed to express their opinions!
"If you don't like it, no one freaking cares."
If you do like it, no one freaking cares. <--- an example of how silly you sound
Anne wrote: "lets all respect are parents now"parents are humans too. which means that they're flawed and shouldn't be idolized or respected in everything they do.

Yes, that hobo that lives under the bridge and glares at you every time you walk past...Sorry...
My parents actually don't care what I read...Not like it matters now anyway...
I like the first few of them, the latter ones...I didn't like or haven't read yet...
