Marbs All you had to ask was if anyone else disliked Harry Potter. You don't need to go around saying people are idiots just because they read a certain book. I agree with what Katy said:
"As a reader yourself, one would certainly hope that you could understand the love of a certain author."

message 152: by M (new) - rated it 4 stars

M I was hoping you meant Harry Potter the character because I hate him too (I liked him at first if that counts for anything). But the books are great.

message 153: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes. If you like a book, you shouldn't be called an idiot, just because you do. It's totally unfair.

Jacquel Also, if you hate Harry Potter, then you have a right to. No one can force you to like Harry Potter if you hate it.

Natalie loves Orlando Bloom! Amber (loves Dimka and Edward and Shane! + more) wrote: "I got bored with Harry potter like 10 pages into the first book"thats because u hav 2 read more of it...get farther in, like, 20 pgs.

message 156: by [deleted user] (new)

i agree with Jacquel Chrissy Pattinson. if u hate it, u shldnt b forced into liking it, but if you do, u shldnt think others r idiots cuz they think otherwise.

message 157: by Em (new) - rated it 1 star

Em I really don't like the series, but I wouldn't call everyone who reads it idiots. After all, when I was about 8 or 9, I used to read it too.

Ann Emily wrote: "Okay, so some people may hate Harry Potter, but there is no reason to call people idiots! That's a bit mean, cuz I love Harry Potter!"

I love Harry Potter, too, you know?

Sophia oh... saying that you hate HP is just an excuse for your read laziness I bet these book are just too big for some people ;)

message 162: by Van (new) - rated it 5 stars

Van Bournival I absolutely love Harry Potter. And for all those saying that they hate Harry Potter and despised the *firs* book, well you read the first book right? The first book J.K Rowling *ever* wrote. Her series gets alot better from then on. Not only that but their are twists and turns, dark plots, funny dialogues, intriguing carachters and a tuch of sweet. What more can you ask for? Seriously! J.K Rowling is a genius! If you say the series is poorly written and lacks originality then that's your opinion but more than a million poeple world wide would care to differ. If Harry Potter had been horrible I don't think the british books would have been translated to hebrew would they?
Anyways-I totally disagree with anyone saying that Harry Potter is less than amazing. I give the series 6 stars/5! :) :)

message 163: by Gregg (new) - rated it 3 stars

Gregg I guess I gotta weigh in on this since I feel strongly about these arguments. There is nothing wrong with reading Harry Potter. The problem is when people refuse to read anything else or refuse to acknowledge that there is better written Fantasy out there. I dislike the fact that people are choosing to read Harry Potter over what I would consider to be better literature, but I love Harry Potter for getting more people to read and enjoy reading.

You should keep reading!

message 167: by Brenna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Brenna You can't possibly hate Harry Potter, because it's cooler than a lot of books. Yeah, so he gets a lightning scarn, can do magic, blah blah blah. But it is the best book I've ever read.It tops everything. ALL OF IT! And I have read almost all the books in my section in the library. Before you judge things, and get hateful comments, think about other people who like the book and can't stand to see you write that stuff. Maybe they don't think so. What if J.K Rowling was to come on and read this. What would she think? Keep your nasty commens to yourself. All of them.Please.

message 168: by Brenna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Brenna I forgot to say this: if you think that way, you probably read the first page, Did you know that J.K. Rowling was so poor, she wrot the first 1 or two books on napkins in her mother's cafe?

Danielle Mary Friedrich i understand everyone has their own opinion and i love love love harry potter the books are easy reads for me ive read them all ive seen all the movies that r out but we all have our own opinion like i dont see what is so great about twilight i just like the movies cuz i love movies

That quote right there just proves to me that:

1. You are calling yourself an idiot seeing as you read the book along with 99% of the world.
2. You are a Twilight Fan.
3. You just insulted 99% of the world.

Welcome to the best passtime in existence. I can still remember the book that converted me to reading fiction. I've never been the same since. Life is much better!

HAHHAHHAHAHHHAHAHAHHAHA. Harry Potter has had WAYYYY MORE than "it's 15 minutes of fame". Those books are legendary and will never lose their popularity because they are amazing. And yes, there are other kids series out there. Most kids probably don't want to read Alexandre Dumas' books, because they are difficult to read, granted they're good. BUT are any of those series you mentioned about a wizarding school? yeah, they're not. Because Harry Potter is unique just as Alex Rider is unique. Different series float different boats, you are welcome to be more interested in Narnia, Alex Rider, Lord of the Rings, Alexandre Dumas, or Ella Enchanted (All of these are fantastic in their own ways). But it is really crazy of you to proclaim that Harry Potter is just a "passing fad" or something. Because it MOST CERTAINLY is not.

Samara Ugh I don't like the Harry Potter series much either. My friends do and there is only about 4 of us out of my friends who don't like the books. I have nothing against the books, J.K. Rowling, or anyone who enjoys the books- It's just I personally got bored of the series...

message 191: by Arti (new) - rated it 5 stars

Arti moving away...........

message 192: by Prerak (new) - rated it 4 stars

Prerak Umm...dont think i am biased, or that i Just LOVE potter....but actually, here's my opinion:
Indeed it is true that at many points, those books turned nonsensical and at many point it was gloated with stupid feminish fantasies, but still there's one thing that I THINK is the main reason for its success. Its an Honest and an Original Story. Secoondly, its too innocent that just makes you smile sometimes.

And GUYS, no matter what others say:
As the books grew, not just in size but in age, Maturity also grew...and being very true...The CONCEPT of the LAST PART, the Deathly Hallows...it was seriously very good. and yes, Voldemort is FAAARRR better than most of the villains in fantasy books....
I loved to read Dark Fantasies and Mature Fiction, so obviously for all those who share my taste, must have felt certain loopholes in the book, but still, C'mon, It still was an engaging Read isnt it???

message 193: by Emily (new) - rated it 5 stars

If you don't like intelligent character building, amazing plot, complex romance, and a unique, brilliant story, then I guess you don't like Harry Potter.
