everyone should just stop fighting, like *Kenna Bear* wrote everyone has there own opinion. And I respect your opinion Kimberly LoVe. If you dont like the books then thats fine. What books do you like?

Definitely! I love it. My cousins and I would speak to each other in spells and now a lot more people do that. No one would know what we were doing in public. Now it can't go unnoticed!

I have always wondered why people have an opinion about books they don't like. If you don't like Harry Potter why waste your time. There are a lot of things I don't like but I don't care about them. I won't waste my (and other people's) time tell the world what I don't like. So........By the way I like reading Harry Potter :-)

I used to but this is my best freinds fave series so I decided to give it a try. So far it's not that bad.

I refused to read the harry potter books until a couple of years ago because i am not really into a lot of fantasy types of books, but once i started reading them i really liked them. I dont really find it unusual that some people dont like harry potter becasue some people just arent into a lot of fantasy but i actuallly liked these books
i read the first book of harry potter and i got really bored!!!!!!! the movie is just as boring! i dont really hate it though. its just boring.
i dont mind twilight but i prefer it to hp

Yes! I like a lot of Science Fiction books but Harry Potter is one i would never encourage youth to read and certainly not my children nor grandchildren. I am appalled that elementary school teachers have encouraged students to read such far-fetched gibberish.

well actually i get wat lu is sayin.... bc especially if you christian you can offend God by believeing in all this fake stuff... and its not educational at all.... at least the holocost is about something REAL in history

I'm just going to say anything that promotes literacy instead of lets say facebook and myspace and whatever social network sites teenagers use these days as well as video games is ok in my book. Hey you might not like Harry Potter but you are discussing it!

How is that gibberish?"I had family members, when the books first gained popularity, try to tell me I shouldn't read the Harry Potter books because of the whole "witchcraft and wizardry" aspect (even though 1.) they hadn't read them themselves and 2.) I was an adult, so I could read anything I wanted to). The thing is, though, that in each book, there is a (mostly) clearly defined battle between good and evil, we know who the good guys are (and why they're good) and we know who the bad guys are (and why they're bad). There's a few exceptions, like Snape, but except for the "grey" characters, you know who's on which side and what they believe in and why. And the good guys win, for the right reasons: they're brave, they're loyal, they're willing to fight for what they believe in to protect themselves and those they hold dear. And in my opinion, that's a fantastic lesson to teach kids.

It's funny that you say that, because I (who wrote the original comment) used to think it was overrated until my friends forced me to read it (you don't want to know how). Now I am in Harry Potter Club and substitute co-led it just the other day.
