Emily (lafillebrigitte) | 1085 comments Tell them it's about love, family, and honor. It's about respect and courage, bravery and humor. But above all, it's about the need for companionship, someone to be there for you and they respect each other, love each other, and teach each other about themselves and the world around them. Even a 1,000 year alien can't survive in solitude

message 452: by cαяяιє (new)

cαяяιє | 401 comments I love that, extremely well worded.

message 453: by Emily (new)

Emily (lafillebrigitte) | 1085 comments Tell them the second one. Summarize it and memorize it. They're worth it

message 454: by Ella (new)

Ella | 678 comments I second what Carrie said. Thanks, Ebony. I'll give it a shot.

message 455: by Emily (new)

Emily (lafillebrigitte) | 1085 comments You can do it! We believe in you because we all believe in each other :)

message 456: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer You can, Ella. Just condense it a little. :-)

message 457: by cαяяιє (new)

cαяяιє | 401 comments Seeing is believing!... I don't know why I wrote that, just wanted to sound cool,I guess :P

message 458: by Emily (new)

Emily (lafillebrigitte) | 1085 comments Haha, I love the way everyone suddenly rallies when someone asks for help. It's what makes Whovians so amazing and unique. I mean, if you see someone in a Harry Potter shirt you're just like, oh hey, cute shirt. If you see someone in a Sherlock shirt you're like, come sit over here! But I you see someone in a Doctor Who shirt you've immediately got a new best friend

message 459: by Ella (new)

Ella | 678 comments Thanks guys! I'll do it and tell you how things go.

Carrie, I think I know what you were going at. You wanted me to see that you guys thought I could do it so then I would believe I could do it. Right!

message 460: by Ella (new)

Ella | 678 comments Does that even make any sense?

message 461: by cαяяιє (new)

cαяяιє | 401 comments Yeah, exactly! Glad someone gets me!

Ebony, I think you hit the nail on the head. It doesn't matter if your old or young, you can always depend on your fellow Whovians to welcome you and celebrate you.

message 462: by Ella (new)

Ella | 678 comments Exactly. I just hope I can convince them of that.

message 463: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer They may not 'get' it. Not everyone does. But some will.

message 464: by Ella (new)

Ella | 678 comments If they don't listen, I think I'll just grab them by the ear and make them sit through, like, the first season.

message 465: by cαяяιє (new)

cαяяιє | 401 comments Definitely. If they won't watch it by will, then I'll have to force them.

message 466: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer Just see if they like a couple of your favourites. If not, I wouldn't force it. You don't want them to turn into haters.

message 467: by Pamela Su (new)

Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 142 comments I agree with Lynne. Don't force them if they don't want to watch it.

It can cause a backlash and make them DW haters.

I know a few friends and I made other friends dislike DW just because we wouldn't shut up about it everytime we met. It's good to remember that not everyone shares our interests and it's good to talk about a wider range of topics. ;)

Definitely pick some of your favourite episodes. Try to pick the standalone episodes so they won't be too lost.

message 468: by Emily (new)

Emily (lafillebrigitte) | 1085 comments And probably all from one Doctor would be best

message 469: by Novia (new)

Novia (novroz) | 236 comments I agree with Pamela, never force anything at anyone, it'll only cost hate

♥Emi Love♥ Come Along, Pond | 666 comments My friend is on... the episode after Age of Steel and its counterpart. She wont watch anymore though! Shes busy.. And I was making such progress with her...

message 471: by Ella (new)

Ella | 678 comments So, what episodes would you guys suggest? What episode do you think is the best of the best and will make my friends want to come back for more?

message 472: by cαяяιє (new)

cαяяιє | 401 comments Blink is always a good one, but maybe after you've shown them a few others, that way they don't get confused on how time works for the doctor.

message 473: by Ella (new)

Ella | 678 comments I was thinking Blink but I thought it would be too confusing... And I don't know where else to begin other than the beginning. But those first few episodes are a little boring.

message 474: by [deleted user] (new)

DW is one of the most complex shows to explain. Well said.

message 475: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (rie10) | 50 comments Posted this elsewhere but think this may be a better place.
Ok, so let me start by saying this could be a silly question from a somewhat stupid american who (very likley) just does not know lots about the quirks that are the brits. And yes, this is about an older episode just thought i woudl post to see if i can quite wondering every time i see the episode. And this seemed like the best place to ask. So...that being said, try not to laugh at this poor (slightly) ignorant chick honestly trying to 'get' all the little things taht are different than here is US or Canada.

This has been bugging me becuase i am just not able to get the implication/meaning behind it. At the end of Doomsday, when rose tells the doctor she loves him, he says 'quite right too'. That seemed out of place to me here. I have heard it used in many other shows/movies and it seememd to make sense every other time i heard it. Or i was able to make out the implication, but for some reason, it seems ood..i mean odd here. So, i am sure there is some implication here i am missing. Anyone want to take a stab at helping my momentary dense brain understand this? Yes, i am well aware i am crazy, nuts, etc. but then, who isn't? (and yes, i can laugh at myself for having to ask this. if i were not at work right now, i probably would be)

message 476: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer Girl in the Fireplace is a good one if they like a bit of romance.

I noticed it too, but if you think about it, it's really not that strange. He's THE DOCTOR. Self explanatory, in my opinion. (That wasn't meant to sound rude if it came off so.) And maybe instead of "too" it's "to." Like she's in the right place to love him because he loves her too. That make sense? I have it in my head, where it makes sense, but it's a bit hard to put into words.

message 478: by Ella (new)

Ella | 678 comments Valerie, are you confused as to why the Doctor says "Quite right too."? Like, when he says that, you don't know why he says it there and then?
Well, I have to agree with Alexis. He's the Doctor. I think he's trying to say that she made a good choice in choosing. Like, it's obvious that she loves him and he loves her. So, I think that he was trying to say "Good choice" or something like that.

Lynne, I can use that for one of my friends. She is a romance fan. but my other friend likes mystery and action.

message 479: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (rie10) | 50 comments I was thinking of something along those lines, but it just did not seem to fall into place or 'feel' right for some reason. Its like i get it, but i don't (if that makes anys sense). One of those, yeah, it totally makes sense. Then my brain goes to work and its like, well....wait a minute.... LOL Can't concentrate at work, but shit like that can drive me nuts. Go figure! Well, maybe not worth the headache. Thanks guys! (:-D

This is why I hate words like that. "To, too," and "two" all have different meaning. "Two," obviously being number. "To," is harder to explain...But "too" is another way of saying also or more than enough. So yeah, I'm thinking he meant more of the single o'd to. <- "Quite right to."="You are in the right place with your words" type thing...

Haha, no problem!

Also, if you think about it, it's been YEARS since he's said "I love you," so it was probably too "awkward" or hard or something to say at the moment, being why he took so long to say it, later, missing the chance.

message 482: by Emily (new)

Emily (lafillebrigitte) | 1085 comments You mean at the end of it with Ten Two? He never said it for a reason. He didn't just chicken out. If he had said it, then Rose never would have accepted Ten Two. He needed to be the one to say it so she could accept that he was leaving her with Ten Two. He had to let her go :,(

Lynne Stringer That's pretty good, Alexis! :-)

♥Emi Love♥ Come Along, Pond | 666 comments Nope. It was my friends party and we were like "To heck with that," but I think everyone put it on before they came, but I didn't, cause I was writing geometry notes.

♥Emi Love♥ Come Along, Pond | 666 comments And I checked out the google thing! But you dont get to go to the console. :c

Emi, you're not alone. I can't see it either.

message 499: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you! :3

Ah, poop. It was an article about how Google humans can mess with Google maps. They placed the TARDIS somewhere and you can actually look inside it! Just the main room, but still!

cαяяιє | 401 comments That's awesome, if I worked for google, I would totally have done that!
