Not fuji apples - royal gala's are the best.
Why no banana's? I have to have a banana every day otherwise I get upset.

R.A. decreed no bananas in post #1.

Fujis are my favorite! I must have FUJI!!!

message 63: by [deleted user] (new)

I have a banana almost every day too Gail.

message 64: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 25, 2010 08:22PM) (new)

There was a cyclone that wiped out the banana crop in Australia a few years ago. It was torture.

I just looked it up to check on the date. The cyclone was 'Cyclone Larry' in 2006.

message 65: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) It was not.

message 66: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Are you now, or have you ever been, a dangerous weather system, Larry?

message 67: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I choose not to answer that question on the grounds that it might incriminate me.

message 68: by [deleted user] (new)

message 69: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I was in Utah that week.

message 70: by [deleted user] (new)

I want evidence.

message 71: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) People in Hell want ice water, too.

message 72: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments You're in the clear, Larry. You can tell by the cyclone's footprint. It was wearing shoes.

message 73: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) See!?

message 74: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol, you guys!

Can I have a glass of iced water please?

message 75: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Sure. Let me just find a nice pint glass...

message 76: by [deleted user] (new)

A schooner will do nicely thanks.

message 77: by Jonathan (last edited Aug 25, 2010 09:09PM) (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Take your pick. Oh, but you said you wanted water.

message 78: by [deleted user] (new)

Was there a picture?

Pints are not such a big thing here. A beer (or water) would get too warm before you finished.

message 79: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Yes, there was a pic. I think I fixed it.

Our pints are smaller than than the Imperial pint, by the way. We use the English short pint--16 oz.--which was the standard during our colonial era, not the big pint you see in British bars.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) My perfect drink vending machines exist already, on almost every corner in Japan. They have machines that have about a billion types of drinks in them (many that I'd never heard of), often serving both hot and cold versions of things like tea and coffee.

I used to love this one cold coffee drink that could be found in almost all of them.

Now food vending machines? That would be hard. Maybe pre-made warm smores, twizzlers, and some sort of crockery bowls of hearty comfort food.

message 81: by [deleted user] (new)

A schooner is 15fl oz. Not too far from your pint.

message 82: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Which I guess explains why we don't have schooners here. I had to look it up.

Keep it under your hat, James.

message 86: by Ali (new)

Ali (alike) My vending machine will include everything I need to survive in this crazy world:

Dry goods section:
- Vegan cookies (I can't eat any regular vending machine food because my digestive system fails at dairy)
- Ramen noodles
- High-quality tortilla chips (not disgusting flavoured ones or Doritos)
- Mixed nuts and plain nuts, unsalted and without an overwhelming peanut content
- Lara Bars and Clif Bars
- Several kinds of teabags: earl grey, white tea, a nice Iron Buddha oolong, jasmine green tea...
- Pantone ballpoint pens
- Post-it notes
- Moleskine cahier notebooks
- Highlighters
- Little screen cleaner cloths
- Baby wipes
- Disposable Olay facecloths
- iPod earbuds
- Underwear
- Letterpress gift cards

Refrigerated section:
- Mini packets of jam and peanut butter and honey
- Mini packets of salsa
- Thai curry packages
- Cooked udon noodles with soup mix
- Coke Zero
- Mango Juice
- Mini bottles of vodka and gin
- Schneider-Weisse Hefeweizen beer and a rotating selection of interesting microbrews

Vending Machine Scans Your Face and Chooses Food For You

Kraft has invented a vending machine that analyzes your face to predict what you want to eat. It combines facial recognition with other data to give you a snack, or email a recipe and shopping instructions.

message 90: by [deleted user] (new)

Handy for all those annoyingly indecisive people.

message 91: by Aynge (new)

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments Generally I don't use vending machines because I always look at the prices and go, "I can get that cheaper at 7-11!"

But I have to admit that the first time I saw an iPod vending machine at my local supermarket, I shrieked and did a little dance.
