Katrina Schroy | 3 comments I really like the series it's just the right amount of paranormal, romance, and action that I like it reminds me of the mercy thompson series Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs a little bit which is my favorite so I think that's why I like this series but I highly recommend it and I personally didn't think it was to gory and I can't stand gory scenes like game of thrones tried to read it but can't because of the gore

MadameZelda Has anyone read book 8.5 Magic Slays (Kate Daniels, #5) by Ilona Andrews ? It's a novella. I read one review that said it is a must before Book9 appears. I haven't read any of the novellas in this series and haven't felt left out or lost from skipping novellas. Just wondering.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 80 comments Magic Stars (Kate Daniels, #8.5, Grey Wolf, #1) by Ilona Andrews no I'm not that far. but I also haven't read any of the novellas. Novellas never really been my thing.

Jen (reader44ever) | 4477 comments I've read all of the novellas except for the newest one. The only one that I think is really important - as far as I can recall, that is - is the first one, 0.5 A Questionable Client. This one introduces us to that shapeshifter guy whose name escapes me. But he's in all of the early books. Then there was the one about Julie in An Apple for the Creature. Those are really the only two that I think everyone NEEDS to read. Most (if not all) of the others are from the POV and about other Kate-world people (like Andrea and Dali).

MadameZelda Thanks, Jen!

Jen (reader44ever) | 4477 comments You're welcome, MadameZ. :-)

I should probably have said that you should read ALL of the novellas, especially if you are a rabid Kate Daniels fan. They all really do add to the series. But I know that I really only loved the first one (#0.5) and the Julie one. (At least, I think those were the only two that I gave five stars to.)

I reviewed all of them. If you're interested in my thoughts, I think you can find them by visiting my shelves and searching for "Kate Daniels." That would let you easily find my reviews in the event that we're not friends, I think/hope.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 80 comments I need a break before beginning Magic Breaks this series always follows the exact same formula and reading two in a row is enough trying to marathon the rest might drive ya insane.
