What are you reading? (Part 2)
JF a bunch of very good reads:Dashing Through the Snow, a cozy Christmas mystery - Mary Higgins Clark & Carol Higgins Clark
Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary - Essays - David Sedaris
A Stone Creek Christmas (Stone Creek, #4) - Christmas Romance - Linda Lael Miller
Die a Little: A Novel - Noir Thriller - Megan Abbott
Finished Marked by Cast, and Supernatural: Witch's Canyon by Jeff Meriotte. Definitely surprised how much I liked Marked, so I'll be keeping an eye out the next one.
finished The hunger games series by Suzanne Collins. I love it! Very addicting :0 Still looking for my next book.
I have finished
Wild Magic An immensely enjoyable read 4 stars
Cry Wolf there are so many character holes you start to wonder if you have just caught the "punchline" and missed the main event 2 stars
The Shack I quite enjoyed it , but found some of the religious ideas difficult to fathom 3 stars
Beastly This book was recommended to me by a friend for a reading challenge and I am so glad I read it. I found the book which was written in the Beasts point of view to be an enlightening read 4 starsI have started
Catching Fire and
Once Bitten, Twice Shy
I put Branded by Fire down and am listening to The Enchantment Emporium which is a good listen, but the family's breeding program is a bit disturbing. Also listening to Zombies vs. Unicorns, a bunch of short stories, many of which are creepy. Good narrative between Holly Black and Justine Larbalestier. I continue to read Spider's Bite.
was a pretty decent read. I would really love to know who wrote this one since they have been rotating between different authors. If anyone knows, PLEASE, let me know...THanks!Struggling with the passage and may say I am finished with it so that my challenge can be completed before 12/31/2010. Not sure why anyone would want to write 794 pages.
SO that leaves me with
;
;
JF the last two books in the challenge ending 12/31:
by Michael Romkey - 4.5 stars/5. Romkey's vampire books are outstanding imo, tho written before the recent explosion in the genre. This one is like "Dracula meets the Titanic"
by Richelle Mead 4/5 stars. Sparkley writing, highly entertaining series. Georgina is a succubus who drains men of their energy while having sex with them. In this #3, she discovers her energy is being drained. Her friends and acquaintances (imps, angels, demons, etc.) help her investigate. Loved the angels getting an expanded role in this one!
So on a lark I purchased
because I had to use a $10 credit at Borders before the end of the year. It's receiving very strong ratings on Goodreads. I'm only about 30 pages in so far...and it's got a lot of action so far and some interesting characters. We'll see!
Finished with
; am I like the only one who hates Chess when she continually does her drugs and treats Terrible like crapola? Just saying! Bone gods / Kittredge, Caitlin
Fire study / Snyder, Maria V
Dancing on the head of a pin : a Remy Chandler novel / Sniegoski, Tom
Are my next three to read.
Tina, I loved Greyfriar.Shelley, I liked Fire study- you read the previous books in series first, I hope. I thought Poison study was the best (and first) of the series.
I just finished Maria Lima's Blood Bargain, pretty good- vamps, fae, shifters.
Shelley, this is what I saw online about the Rogue Angel book you wondered about:Gabriel’s Horn, is a must read for any adventure fan. Mel Odom ghost-wrote this wonderful story
I read it a month ago and thought it was pretty good, but some of the others I thought were tedious. After seeing the series had different authors, now I know why.
Tasula,Yeppers, read the previous two books and agree that Poison was the best so far. I have Blood Bargain in my pile to Read list (borrowed from library). I can't help myself with the Rogue Angel series. I have to read them all now. I heard that these books were actually written by a revolving door of writers from here on out. I would love to truly find out which writers wrote what books ya know? Thanks!
I know Mel Odom wrote at least 2 of the books, not sure about the other Rogues. If I find out, will post it.
These are the books Mel wrote that I know of.Destiny (2006)
The Spider Stone (2006)
Forbidden City (2006)
God of Thunder (2007)
Serpent's Kiss (2008)
and then starting on my challenges... I was waiting for the New Year to start them. Probably start with
.
Finished Bone gods / Kittredge, Caitlin Fire study / Snyder, Maria V
Reading Dancing on the head of a pin
Finished
Next books (Not necessarily in order)
The iron king / Kagawa, Julie.
Saint City sinners / Saintcrow, Lilith.
Vampires not invited / McCray, Cheyenne.
Bitter night : a Horngate witches book
Sheila wrote: "I'm rereading Patricia Briggs' Bone Crossed, before going on to her latest, Silver Borne. I love the Mercy Thompson books, and also the Alpha and Omega series."Im gonna start the Mercy series shortly, I did read Alpha & Omega.. LOVE IT!!

So far I'm not impressed. The first chapter has one of the poorest first chapters I have read in a long while. I'm going to stick with it since it is a debut novel.
I have finished Once Bitten, Twice Shy
2 starsKiss of Midnight
One of the scenes particularly creeped me out -the one where Lucan performs a sexual act on the heroine while she is sleeping. Apart from that it was ok I've been told that the series gets better so I'm not giving up on it yet. 3 starsLast Sacrifice
I found this one very slow until about half way through then it really did pick up and got really exciting that I couldn't put it down. I liked it, but it didn't leave me feeling much afterwards like the previous five novels in this series. It's no Blood Promise BUT still a very good read I love the cover design, The black heart made up of dragons, birds and flowers over the blood red background, the dripping blood effect and the simple silver lettering. 4 starsCatching Fire
a great number of plot twists were beyond anything I had imagined. And I didn't expect so much of it, Rest assured that this book destroys superbly the idea that the second in a trilogy is the weakest. If you have not read The Hunger Games, do so immediately. 5 starsI have started Angels' Blood
I LOVED
!! It was so well written. Great action, great characters, a very difference premise...just loved it!

and I love love LOVE Chess. I think I've finally given my heart to Terrible, and then Lex comes along and messes it all up again. :(
I finished
in the past few days. I'm reading:
.I have a huge stack of dead tree books and a Kindle full of books, so for every ebook I read, I need to read 2 dead tree books.
I've paused in my reading of
, I hadn't realized how many good books were coming out on Jan 4th.Started
, it's so addicting but I want to strangle the main character.
I just got some books to review, so in the next time I'll read
(and I'm almost through it),
and after that,
- all in their German Versions. And I have the second book of a German series of history-fiction books ready to review, too =)
Shera (Book Whispers) wrote: "HOpe you enjoy A Certain Slant of Light, I loved the writing."Me too. I read on Laura Whitcomb's blog that she's finished a draft of the sequel, which has me all kinds of curious. Her writing is just gorgeous.
Shera (Book Whispers) wrote: "wow!! That's so crazy, a sequel. Really can't imagine it, it ended well for a stand alone."I know! Very unexpected. No release date yet, but there's a GR entry for the sequel here.
Under the Light
Oooh a sequel- great! Thanks for the news!Yes I enjoy the writing a lot, and this time I can say that the German translation is really good (this is kind of rare :D )
I am reading
. I really liked The Iron King. I went to the library the day after I finished it to get the next one in the series.
Finished
and also
-- Bitter Night is an excellent read and definitely one that should be added to your TBR listing.Next up...

@Shelley: Don't skip Blood Law, it's amazing! I loved it to bits, there's something really unique and captivating about the story.
