Fallen was pretty good although I thought the ending was a bit cheese bucket, definitely not my favorite part, but I will read the next in the series, it had allure.

I have read that series by Shinn, and you are right they start off odd, but it is good. I did find that they were a slow read, but worth it. I really liked the world that the books are set in. If you keep reading, I think you will be surprised by what happens.

Someone new to Sharon Shinn may enjoy the Twelve House series, I really enjoyed those a lot and they are more accessible than the "angel" books. She also has a lot of YA fiction that is well written and quick to read.

message 674: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 188 comments I have a few books going on at the time the first one was The Iron Daughter but I havent picked that up in a few days the main character started to annoy me. Im half way done with Rules of Attraction and its as awesome if not more than Perfect Chemistry and Im reading The Eye of The World by Robert Jordan.

message 675: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin (beniowa79) I just finished Soulless by Gail Carriger. I liked the setting and Carriger's quirky sense of humor. However, I thought the romance sub-plot was a little ridiculous. I hear the sequels are better so I plan to read them later.

message 676: by Isamlq (new)

Isamlq just finished I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies, #1) by Pittacus Lore .. shall read either The Scorch Trials (Maze Runner, #2) by James Dashner or Unwind..

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 204 comments Finished Nightlife, which rocked my socks off. Even though it was a revisit.

Just started Beautiful Creatures, safe to say I'm not impressed.

message 678: by Becca (new)

Becca (goblinfan) | 215 comments I'm about a third of the way through The Scent of Shadows: The First Sign of the Zodiac by Vicki Pettersson. So far so good, though I have a feeling things won't go well between the main character and the love interest. I don't consider myself a romantic person, but every once in awhile I like a happy ending. Especially when the main character and the love interest so obviously belong together, and its such a passionate love, blah blah blah... Plus, they'd been through hell, they could use a break.
Also started Deerskin by Robin McKinley, though it's more traditional fantasy.

message 679: by Dija (new)

Dija Just finished reading Alpha (Shifters, #6) by Rachel Vincent and the ending was highly satisfying, but I'm still very sad that there won't be any more books. I still need more of Marc and Faythe!

message 680: by Jency (new)

Jency | 26 comments I just finished Bitten and Stolen by Kelley Armsrtong. So far I like her YA (the Darkest Powers triology) and Adult UF. I would definitely recommend her books. I recently got Fallen (Fallen, #1) by Lauren Kate and Torment. So I will be reading those next.

message 681: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin (beniowa79) I just finished Just Another Judgement Day by Simon R. Green. It's the ninth book in the Nightside series and it was a bit better than the last couple of books.

Thanks for sharing. It's crazy they don't put the authors name.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 204 comments ~♡Katie♡~ wrote: "i am reading both Torment (Fallen, #2) by Lauren Kate and Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs"

Hope you enjoy Moon Called, it's one of the best! I really need to read Fallen, I bought when it first came out and it's just sitting there.

message 686: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin (beniowa79) I was in the Nightside once again in the tenth book in the series, The Good, the Bad, and the Uncanny by Simon R. Green. It was a little rambling, but it did have some interesting plot and character development.

I'm a little iffy about reading this one. I didn't like her Demon Angel books at all.

The Iron Duke was a very good read. I haven't read any of her other books so don't have anything to compare it to. I found the steampunk aspect very refreshing.

Isamlq just finished Destined for an Early Grave (Night Huntress, #4) by Jeaniene Frost ...

what's KILLBOX about?

message 696: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) Killbox is the 4th book in the Sirantha Jax series. Jax is able to jump through grimspace which allows a spaceship to travel extremely fast. In Killbox, Jax and her crew are off to fight the flesh eating aliens who threaten the existence of all humans (and possibly other aliens) except as a food source. I'm only on page ten, so except for a gun battle there's not much going on.
