I have had this book forever. Let meknow what you think of it. Have you read her other series?

I haven't read her other series, just haven't gotten around to it yet. I will say that this one is a quick read, the font is huge, margins big, and line spacing big too. I whipped through 175 pages in 45 minutes. So far it is pretty good.

message 553: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 109 comments I haven't read it either. Maybe if I like it I will read the other series as well.

I hate when books do that. I don't mind fast reads, but I don't like it when it's deceiving. Oh well, maybe I'll use it in a challenge.

message 554: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finished Carpe Jugulum and liked it. I didn't really want to read about vampires in a book with Granny, Nanny, Magrat, and Agnes in it. I knew there would be some harm done before the book was over. I love those witches! I have started Maskerade.

Dija Carrie (Care) wrote: "the series gets a lot better as it goes. The third book was awesome, IMO. It reminds me of Kate Daniels in the way the books just get better and better (same can be said for The Mortal Instruments series)."

That's not the way it's been for me, because I liked CV #1 and hated CV #2. Haven't read the 3rd one yet simply because I don't really feel like it right now. I've had my fill of cliches for a while now.

message 556: by Becca (new)

Becca (goblinfan) | 215 comments Started Cold Copper Tears, and rereading Bloody Bones. Bloody Bones is turning out to be better than I remember it.

message 557: by Dija (new)

Dija Just started Almost to Die For (A Vampire Princess of St. Paul, #1) by Tate Hallaway

Really, wow. What did you hate about it if you don't mind me asking?

I loved the third one. It had a lot more action and a more interesting plot (IMO anyway).

I ended up liking this one. I have not read her other series, but now am intrigued by what I saw in this one.

Like I said, I don't like how cliched it's getting. The love triangle is the same as the one in VA, Shifters, and so many other series. It's irritating and I hate how Merit's been acting recently towards Morgan and her ex-roommate (forgot her name ///). And most of all, I hate how Merit's been lusting after Ethan and that makes her come across as really weak imo. It's one thing to lust after a character and completely another to actually act on that lust and Ethan is so annoying with his messed-up sense of duty and courtesy. Basically, I can't stand the main characters, and that's what makes me dislike this series.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 822 comments Next up for me will be Demon Hunts by C. Murphy Linger (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater Hourglass (Evernight, #3) by Claudia Gray Bonds of Justice (Psy-Changeling, #8) by Nalini Singh

message 563: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 109 comments Oh good Darcy, I am glad you liked it.

Lazuline, that is funny because the reasons you say you don't like Merit are the same reasons I can't stand Georgina in the succubus series, lol. That's what makes the world go around. I think it's interesting to see everyones different opinions.

I started Sisters Red (Sisters Red, #1) by Jackson Pearce and Insatiable by Meg Cabot . Only about 100 pages into sisters red, but I really like it so far.

message 564: by TheThirdLie (new)

TheThirdLie Finished up Bleak History which was an interesting book, but need more development. I'm starting Night Watch by Terry Pratchett now.

Dija Carrie (Care) wrote: "Lazuline, that is funny because the reasons you say you don't like Merit are the same reasons I can't stand Georgina in the succubus series, lol. That's wha..."

I've noticed lots of people hate Georgina, and I don't really love her either. But the plot itself is captivating and mostly I'm just curious as to where Mead's taking this series. Other than that, though, I have a love-hate relationship with every character in the series, but that's what makes the series interesting imo.

Mis_Reading (tenoko1) Just started reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman .

It sounds interesting though he's a British writer, and for whatever reason, I have a hard time getting into their writing style.

I haven't read any of the Pride & Prejudice & Zombies or Sense & Sensibility & Sea Monsters or the book where Abraham Lincoln is a Vampire Slayer. It's fun, so far.

message 589: by Ladiibbug (new)

Ladiibbug Hi Everyone ~

I just joined yesterday, so this is my first post.

I'm reading Four And Twenty Blackbirds by Cherie Priest and enjoying it.

A few of my favorite UF authors are Adrian Phoenix (A Rush of Wings and that series); Simon R. Green's Nightside series; and J.F. Lewis's series that begins with Staked.

I read just about any genre and like to mix it up. After reading tons of PNR the last few years, I've kinda hit the wall and am looking for non-romance reads for awhile.

I look forward to getting to know everyone and sharing our 2 cents on books and authors :-)

I'm currently readingIllyriaby Elizabeth Hand, a YA novel that won the World Fantasy Award.

You should read Naked in Death. Im not sure if that's the first in the series but Eve is great, so is Roarke. Then youve got Ian and Peabody ~ at first they are at each others throats then later...
I love that series! :)

message 600: by MsBeaglely (new)

MsBeaglely | 114 comments Finished Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep over the weekend. It was a little slow, but it caught my attention enough to want to read the next book in the series.

Started reading Firestorm (Weather Warden, #5) by Rachel Caine . I love the Weather Warden series, but I really hate the long chapters. I know it's mind over matter, but it's nicer to read on the Kindle.
