Great advice! I sometimes get caught in that trap too but I'm getting better at remembering to read for enjoyment and not get stressed about how long it takes to finish each one :)

Yup my hubby can be smart every once in awhile. I mean he married me! hahahaha! In all seriousness I also have to do that too David (remember I am reading because I love it - which I do! :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 65 comments Reading Sean Griswold's Head by Lindsey Leavitt and listening to Guardian of the Dead by Karen Healey (and loving the accent).

I have looked at Sean Griswold a few times Cassi - let me know if you end up liking it please :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 65 comments So far I do! Heavier than Princess to Hire but still has cute and funny moments.

Just started A Corner of White A Corner of White by Jaclyn Moriarty - I wish they had it on audiobook because I always enjoy Aussie narration.

Katie (katie421) Just finished up The Assassin's Curse (The Assassin's Curse, #1) by Cassandra Rose Clarke and now on to Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green

Katie how was Assassin's Curse?? Are you reading Will Grayson or listening to it??

Katie (katie421) Heidi (trust me) wrote: "Katie how was Assassin's Curse?? Are you reading Will Grayson or listening to it??"

I really liked Assassin's Curse! It's very adventurous an it was really different having the story focused on a pirate and an assassin, but it worked really well! I'm looking forward to the next book! And I'm reading Will Grayson on my nook! :)

Thanks for the update on the book Katie. I listened to the audiobook sample and like the narrator so I may give it a listen. I loved Will Grayson on audio but I am sure it is just as good in print - enjoy!

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments I am in a downward reading spiral. I just can't seem to do it right now. I am pissed because I need to do it. I need to get through more of the books i am not sure if I will keep because I will have to move in a few months.

I Conquer Britain <-- this one is going so slow. ugh.

Yin Fire <--- this one is really good but isn't a book you can just sit down and read 50 pages at once. You need time to digest

give me advice.. what should i start from this pile:
Good Grief by Lolly Winston The Prince of West End Avenue by Alan Isler The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes by Diane Chamberlain Utterly Monkey by Nick Laird A Desert of Pure Feeling A novel by Judith Freeman A Thousand Acres by Jane Smiley Woman of the Inner Sea by Thomas Keneally Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier The Old Ballerina Novel by Ellen Cooney The Da Vinci Code (Robert Langdon, #2) by Dan Brown The Woman Who Walked on Water by Lily Tuck Show of Hands A Novel by Anthony McCarten The Post-Birthday World by Lionel Shriver The House Beautiful by Allison Burnett Toward Amnesia by Sarah Van Arsdale My Maggie by Richard King What's Left Us by Aislinn Hunter Social Disease by Paul Rudnick All is Vanity by Christina Schwarz The Good Wife Strikes Back by Elizabeth Buchan

Kaylani did you not read my earlier post! Reading is not a chore - it is something you should want to do :) Did you finish Book Thief?? The only book I have read in that pile of yours is the DaVinci Code which is not well written at all but I was entertained by it.

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments I know reading isn't a chore. My problem is if I don't make myself pick up a book I just don't and then I get pissed at myself. I like it while I am doing it. I just have to kick my ass to pick up the book and start turning the pages. Once that is done I'm good ;)

Depends on where I am at in the book - in the last half I normally don't want to stop but the first 50-100 pages of any book are always a challenge for me to get into the flow of things.

message 4821: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 110 comments Just finished up my 2nd read of A Storm of Swords (A Song of Ice and Fire, #3) by George R.R. Martin . What a book! No wonder I had to start this series over after new books finally started coming out. I must have been SO pissed waiting the five years it took!

Now...I'm trapped in the dilemma of: do I just jump right into A Feast for Crows (A Song of Ice and Fire, #4) by George R.R. Martin or take a welcome break with something else? (Hmm...I think I just answered my own question - though a lack of ANY idea what I'm in the mood for might just force me to start A Feast of Crows first anyway)

Except for the MUCH added sexual content I thought season one of the show followed book one pretty well.

I am nearly done with Code Name Verity and think I need to re-read it because I was lost for the first half and now that I know what I know I wish I knew it earlier (if that makes sense!)

Haha yeah Heidi, that definitely makes sense. The first part of it is really confusing.

Anyway, I finished:

The Bane (The Eden Trilogy, #1) by Keary Taylor

It was ... meh. Decent but not that great.

Now I'm going to focus on:

The 5th Wave (The Fifth Wave, #1) by Rick Yancey

So psyched!

message 4833: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
ummm not middle grade David! it scared the bejeezus out of me!

message 4834: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
Haha seriously, I would possibly consider it more adult than middle grade or YA. The main character is 12 in the first book I think, but the subject matter is very dark and it's EXTREMELY graphic and twisted a lot of the time. Like, I actually gagged occasionally at how disgusting it was. It's one of the most disturbing things I've read.

... That said, it's one of my favorite series. :P The writing and the characters are so fantastic.

Ahh I love The Outsiders! "Morbid" isn't really the first word that comes to mind ... I guess I think of it as being more "gritty" or "edgy" or whatever. :P Anyway, yeah. Cool book.

It's been a long time since I read The Outsiders, but I thought it was more about having to deal with a rough set of circumstances and the good/bad choices these kids make. I agree with Brigid, more edgy than morbid.

Hello! You haven't misssed anything. Loved the Outsiders when I read it in HS - no idea if it holds up but you have to give the author props for her young age when she wrote it!

I love his Oberon voice!

message 4848: by Vered (new)

Vered (vered_ehsani) I wasn't crazy about the first book in that series, Heidi - I think I mentioned that before. Way too much hype that raised my expectations to unrealistic levels. And for a 2,000 year old Druid, the guy could be pretty stupid. Made me wonder how the hell he survived so long!

But one book that has met all expectations and more is... The Book Thief! OMG - gorgeous writing. I mean, stunning literary prose, poetic, original - and that's just the writing style. The story itself is also beautiful. Those in this group who have read it know what I mean. Those who haven't... seriously?!

message 4849: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Yay Vered! The Book Thief rocks! The Druid series is just really light and fluffy so I don't take it too seriously -- I also think it is better on audiobook than it is in print.
