Olga K | 5 comments Thanks! I sometimes have the same problem when listening to audiobooks :) I've been debating whether or not to read it.

If you like audiobooks I would listen to it Oogieboo :) Sarah Drew rarely disappoints me.

Will do. It's the same world as Hex Hall so I'm pretty likely to like it. I did finish Game of Thrones by the way. I wrote a blog but I need to transfer it over to goodreads (has pictures so formatting will take a little effort). I liked it.

Karen’s Library | 574 comments Should finish up The Girl Who Played with Fire (Millennium, #2) by Stieg Larsson tonight. I have about 40 minutes left to listen to. Much better than I thought it'd be! Then on to a reread of The Book Thief by Markus Zusak on audio! Eek! Saumensch! It came in today!

Sun Dwellers was my favorite of the Dwellers series! I really liked the third book of the Delirium series, too! We had quite the discussion in a recent buddy read!

Vered (vered_ehsani) I'm reading Ice Country (The Country Saga, #2) by David Estes - I had to force myself to put aside my kindle last night, but could've kept going. I'll start the Dwellers series after this.

Oh! Yeah I was confused - sorry. I was wondering because I thought you didn't really like Cinder as much as I did. I will give Pandemonium a try but maybe not the last book unless others I trust start liking it.

You are going the opposite way I am! I am finishing Dwellers and then starting the Country series :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 65 comments I've heard book 3 is the worst for killing off beloved characters.

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I finished Ready Player One by Ernest Cline and almost done with In the Hand of the Goddess (Song of the Lioness, #2) by Tamora Pierce .

Next I'm on a Newbery winner kick:
The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare The Trumpeter of Krakow by Eric P. Kelly Dead End in Norvelt by Jack Gantos

Hey let me know if you love any of those Newbery books - I haven't had a lot of luck with the ones I have read in the past.

message 4715: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I've enjoyed Savvy (Savvy, #1) by Ingrid Law (Newbery honor) and The High King (The Chronicles of Prydain, #5) by Lloyd Alexander (Newbery winner). Of course, The High King is the 5th of a series. And Savvy is definitely targeted at middle school. I know you have already read Ella Enchanted and that's another favorite Newbery Honor book of mine.

message 4716: by Heidi (new)

I guess I should clarify :) There haven't been any Newbery winners I disliked but I have had a few that I only gave 3 stars. I did really like Ella and I loved the first two Chronicles of Prydain books on audio as well :)

And then hopefully on to Ready Player One after The Book Thief!! Finished The Girl Who Played with Fire! Mucho better than book 1, I thought!. :)

message 4718: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I've had mixed luck with Newbery books, too. I love the Chronicles of Prydain except for the fourth one. It's been a long time since I've read them, though.

Yes! Book two is my favorite in that series. I liked book 3 but it got really political and IMO needed more Lisbeth! hahahaha Lisbeth is one of my favorite characters ever :) I have noted in my reviews for the series I think the issue is that the author died so they didn't edit his books down like I think they should have -- if they would have had a good editor they would have been all 5 star books for me.

I totally agree, Heidi. Book 2 was my favorite as well. And I had the same feelings about Book 3 ... It had too much politics and not enough Lisbeth. XD And yeah, I think that is an unfortunate problem. The trilogy would have been a lot better if the author had been alive long enough to edit them down more. There was a lot of useless information in all the books (not just the political stuff, but like listing every single item a character bought at the grocery store or something, etc.) I still enjoyed them, but yeah ... it would have been a lot better if they had been "tighter."

Haha yes the pizzas! Also it mentioned every time the characters made coffee, which was kind of hilarious. It would be like, "They sat down to talk and made more coffee." It often made me want coffee. :D

Oh, you're right, Brigid. LOTS of coffee making.

I was wondering why there was so much insignificant details (like the lists of groceries) in these books. I get it now.

Ummm I am going a little crazy lately. Last week I bought a few Kindle books just so I could get the Audible audiobooks for a reduced price (ranging from $1.99-$3.99). Well yesterday I went full on crazy and decided to re-join Audible for a month because I have wanted The Isle of Blood The Isle of Blood (The Monstrumologist, #3) by Rick Yancey on audiobook forever and even requested my library purchase it since they have the first two books on audiobook but alas my pleas have been unanswered. Anywho... the audiobook for that is around $30 so I thought hey I'll join Audible for a month at $15 and snatch up that audiobook and that will be it. Yeah...once I joined audible I discovered they are having a HUGE sale and Isle of Blood along with MANY MANY other audiobooks I want are under $10. Soooooo of course I snatched up Isle of Blood for the sale price and saved my 1 credit BUT then I saw a notice that if you buy 4 audiobooks you get a $10 credit and since I bought 2 last week I only needed to buy one more to get $10 so of course I HAD to I mean you see my predicament. So now I have a credit to use plus $10....I am sensing a vicious cycle coming my way! My husband is going to kill me! All for the love of audio honey!
