Have to read that one some day. It's been more than 5 years since I bought it. The plastic is still intact. :-p

It looks like a bit of psychological thriller so far. I have just started.

I enjoy that series. I think I've read the first 5 books so far. Maybe I'll have to get back on track with those once I'm done with my current books.

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments What did she say was wrong Lloyd? What is the medication?

Also just because the med is old doesn't mean that's the reason they have it on special order. It probably just means what you have is rare, and needs to be treated but places often don't keep those meds in stock. I know I need to pre-order a lot of my unusual meds before I run out if I want a quick pick up.

I have a pineal cyst and have had thyroid cancer. And have other endocrine issues. So if you want to talk feel free to message me. Health issues suck.

I'm about halfway through:

Abarat (Abarat, #1) by Clive Barker

It's more middle grade than YA I think, but I am enjoying it nonetheless. It's very creative and the illustrations are fantastic.

I'm getting towards the end of:

Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell

Which is also very good ... a bit confusing, but it makes more sense as it goes along. It blows my mind how much planning must have gone into it. Yikes.

After I'm done with these I plan to re-read The Book Thief!

Lloyd and Kaylani - I'm sorry to hear about your health problems. :(

Yay for Chaos Walking. I plan to listen to Delirium - I've heard I may like it but no one is sure! I'll give it a try and see.

Why not, Heidi?
I finished it last night, and I liked it a lot. There were a few things about it that bothered me, but over all I thought it was a cool book. (And now I can finally watch the movie. Yaaay!)

I also finished Abarat. As I said earlier, it was a little too middle grade for my taste I think. Conceptually it was pretty cool and I loved the illustrations. But I felt like it went on for a bit too long, and also the main character was kind of a Mary Sue. So ... meh. Good but not great.

I also started:

Prodigy (Legend, #2) by Marie Lu

I wasn't sure whether or not I wanted to read it, but my mom has it out of the library right now so I figured I might as well give it a try.

My "tumor" is what they call a "Prolactinoma" I have these insanely high levels of prolactin being produced, so they want to medicate that to bring it down to normal. (I have like 331 when it should be less than 17 -- whatever that means).

Medication is something called Dostinex. Fun times. But...better than surgery!

Not sure if this has anything to do with my "blahs", but I guess time will tell.

Oh...as for reading. Looks like The Way of Shadows (Night Angel, #1) by Brent Weeks may have hooked me for this round. (I'm only 5%, so I'm not fully sucked in yet!)

Haha yeah it is a lot of different stories. But they are told in pretty large "chunks" so it's not too hard to keep track.

Finished:

Prodigy (Legend, #2) by Marie Lu

It was ... hmm. Good, I guess. Good but not great. I think I liked it more than the first book, but I did still have a lot of frustrations with it.

Currently re-reading:

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

Yay!

And I'm almost also done with:

The Eternity Cure (Blood of Eden, #2) by Julie Kagawa

Yay Brigid! I need to re-read that too :) I skipped Legend.

message 4528: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (wheatabix) I have two books on the go right now. One is "Death Comes to Pemberley" by PD James. It's not YA, but how can you not love a mash up of Pride and Prejudice with a murder mystery?

I'm also reading "Clockwork Princess". Just released and I had to have it.

message 4530: by Heidi (new)

Karen Before I Fall is best in audio because Jenna narrates it. It is worth the read IMO but overall I was irked by the end

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 65 comments Just started The Goddess's Choice by Jamie Marchant (the author requested a review).

Heidi your new avatar reminds me of the NBA logo.

message 4539: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Yes it is very NBA looking! I just found it one day while looking for book pimp ideas :) I have not heard of that book - is it and indie writer??

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 65 comments Yes it is. They emailed me and the first few paragraphs were fine so I thought "Why not?" I believe there is a publisher but I'm not sure how much of an actual publisher it is. I've barely started it though so I don't have an opinion yet.

message 4541: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Let me know if it is good :) I am still working on Everyday (nearly done I'm on the last part of the audio) and just getting into Etiquette and Espionage. Finished Scarlet and did not love it as much as Cinder.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 65 comments I haven't read any of those. Been in the galleys mostly lately. Wanted to get ahead because if it's ever available at the library I may endeavor Game of Thrones. Maybe.

message 4543: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
I listened to Game of Thrones on audio. The narrator was very good. I can't get myself to listen to the next one though for some reason.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 65 comments I don't drive as much as I used to so I worry about the listening time commitment. Plus new library has more playaway things than CDs which is annoying.

message 4545: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Yeah the playaways suck. I use an adapter and play them through my CD player speakers in the house. GOT is a huge time commitment on audiobook so I would read it if you aren't driving a lot!
