I love how all of you non Book Thief readers are openly confessing here so I can save some time researching who admitted not reading it!

Karen’s Library | 574 comments My turn... I'm sneakily reading Sunset Rising by S.M. McEachern instead of Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia

Hope I can read fast enough before my elibrary snatches Beautiful Creatures back. Or not... ;)

Harold Smithson | 87 comments Just finished Heroes by Robert Cormier by Robert Cormier. Pretty good book, but so utterly depressing. It's up there with The Chocolate War for most depressing book, maybe even I Am the Cheese. Yes, those are all by the same author.

I LOVE ROBERT CORMIER SO MUCH.

I really have to work myself up to read something I know will be depressing.

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments That's part of why I haven't finished The Book Thief. I'm pretty sure I will be brokenhearted for some of it. So now I just need to work up the courage to read on.

Understandable. Here: Frenchtown Summer by Robert Cormier . This is one of the extremely, extremely few not depressing Robert Cormier books. It's semi autobiographical though it is in poetry form. It's one of his lesser works, though still fairly good, in my opinion. Beautiful without being depressing is always a good thing.

I really liked BEAUTIFUL CREATURES, not so much the 2nd in the series.

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Just finished up Stonewiser The Heart of the Stone by Dora Machado . Definitely adult fantasy fiction, but the plot and all were pretty well done.

I'm currently reading Liesl & Po by Lauren Oliver which is Junior Fiction.

message 4415: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Stonewiser was one of those Goodreads Firstreads wins. I now only have 3 books to read. If someone likes adult fantasy fiction with a dark story line, it's decent. The plot moves quickly and has quite a few surprises. Characters were pretty good and it has a bad guy named Arron. (Not quite as crazy as Aaron, but still a decently wicked guy.)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 65 comments Reading In the Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters which is good so far. I'm always happy when galleys are goods because it's always such a gamble.

Peep (Pop! Pop!) People that haven't read The Book Thief yet, you must! It really is as good as everyone says it is!!! <-- See that? I broke out the triple exclamation points! I even de-lurked to write this. Read it, please (or listen to the audiobook).

message 4418: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I am sorta reading A Corner of White (The Colours of Madeleine #1) by Jaclyn Moriarty right now. I am not far into it enough to judge it yet.

Though this book The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo is more middle grade, I loved it! (It's actually one of those books that's great for all ages). My husband is reading it to the kids every night and they love it too. It is a fast read and VERY much worth the hype. Has anyone else read it?

I loved Edward Tulane! I thought it was a children's book when my grandma gave it to me, and it is, but it was so well written and very captivating.

Peep are you listening to that Edward Tulane book on audio -- it seems like you have the print copy from your post.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 65 comments It takes place in 1918 in the height of the Spanish flu. Mary Shelly Black's childhood sweetheart is away at war and his brother is a somewhat famous spiritualist photograph. Mary is a very scientific sort, doesn't really believe in that stuff. Then stuff that is spoilers happens and she starts to try to question that and try to look at it scientifically.

It's just got a lot of 1918 - spanish influenza, persecution of people who opposed the war, the war - and a heroine that's pretty spunky and intelligent thus far.

I'd just read a good book before this one and was expecting a letdown. But so far I'm enjoying it.

Ohhhhh P&P is one of my all time favorites EVER. I also loved Cinder and as I have mentioned recently I am sneaking in parts of Scarlet on audiobook here and there instead of Maze Runner.

Will do. I'm right at 50% and so far it's got me. It had to follow The Traitor in the Tunnel (The Agency, #3) by Y.S. Lee which is a series I just love. I was worried about my next read but so far so good.

Good luck again :) I plan to get the first Clue book on audio -- I have it in my Overdrive wishlist I just always get something else instead. I am currently working through Sue Grafton's A-Z series so that is normally what I get instead.

The Agency is very fun. Victorian England all female spy agency. I've been told it's not very historically feasible BUT it's fun. Don't do them on audio though I hated the narration.

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Liesl & Po by Lauren Oliver is by the author who wrote Delirium. This is the first book I've read by her and it was OK. It's got some silliness, some darkness, some happy stuff.

message 4443: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 110 comments I got side-tracked by Miles to Go (The Walk, #2) by Richard Paul Evans . Tried the first book seeking some sort of...inspiration. Read this one just because I hate leaving a storyline unfinished. Sadly, instead of being inspiring, I found them pretty predictable. Not sure I'll ever get to that 3rd book or not. Maybe, if I need some mindless fluff to read.

For now, I'm back with A Million Suns (Across the Universe, #2) by Beth Revis . It's okay. But just okay.

I want a book that will just blow my mind it's so good. Do they still exist?
