Vered (vered_ehsani) Oh yeah! Heidi - you now HAVE to read it. Whatever it is.

I finally got over my "I just finished Chaos Walking series and don't want to read anything else" funk and started Fire Country last night. Great beginning!

Aww wow, thank you so much Vered! Although, gosh, I hate to follow Chaos Walking, eek!! Hope you enjoy it ;)

Vered (vered_ehsani) DAVID - well, I did wait a couple days before I ventured into a new book. It took me that long to recover. Seriously. But no worries, Fire Country is definitely not disappointing me!

BLUEMOON - I haven't had this problem in a while, but Chaos Walking really threw me. Fortunately, David's helping me recover...!

Vered I am so glad you loved Chaos! I love books that touch me that deeply. They are rare which makes me love even more. :)

It is not YA but I started the audiobook for Gone Girl which I have heard very mixed things about! Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

I liked Gone Girl. I listened to it too.

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I'm reading: The Giver (The Giver, #1) by Lois Lowry Lady Knight (Protector of the Small, #4) by Tamora Pierce

I've also started The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

I've heard it is excellent on audio so that is the only reason I am reading it. So far so good.

Yay Becky! Book Thief! Is Lady Knight like Alanna??? Let me know your thoughts on the Giver too!

message 4261: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Well, I didn't realize the order of these Tortall books so I have not read Alanna yet. I just put it on hold at my library. These are about Keladry but Alanna does show up a few times in them. The Protector of the Small books are the first set of books that I have read by Tamora Pierce. Since I am reading all four of them, that's a good indication that I think they're a nice read. Not as deep or heavy as Chaos Walking or The Book Thief so it's a nice change of pace.

message 4262: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Yes Alanna was a nice series - not too heavy. Great female role.

A lot of my friends on my mystery/thriller board loved GONE GIRL.

Good to know Melodie. I think people hated the protagnosists and that is why they hated the book. I loved Casual Vacancy and there were no redeeming characters in that book so I think I will be ok.

You can do it on your own if you can raise one eyebrow, roll your tongue and snap your fingers. No heel clicking here, this ain't Oz ;)

I am fairly uncoordinated so I guess I am going to have to continue to live without the peanut buster parfait!

I had to put the book down for a few hours Vered because I wanted to draw out the experience. :-). I was reading way too fast! I didn't want it to end. Have you met Perry, yet! He's my favorite!

You know that tongue roll thing is genetic - you either got the genes that let you do it, or you don't and therefore can't, no matter how much you practise. And yes, for those who can't, we know you really want to...
