Yeah, I agree with you about those aspects. Part of my problem with the book was that the two main characters were kind of unrealistically gifted. And like you said, their voices were too similar and over all they were just a little too similar in character; I think June even says something about thinking Day is kind of just a male version of herself? Haha. So, yeah. I didn't love the book but I did enjoy it.

No hate here. I would like to say that I did not fall in love with the series until I finished book two if that helps you understand all the love for that series here. After book one I was still kind of on the fence about the whole series. I am not huge into dystopian either unless it is really well done (which is rare).

Yeah I originally skipped Legend because several people on GR said they were under impressed with it. Hmmmm what to do? What to do?

Oh well, I really liked it and a lot of dystopians turn me off. Then again I didn't think there was "instalove" in SHATTER ME. However, it was written in a way that could be annoying to some. It took me a bit to get interested in it because of that. I have THE KNIFE OF NEVER LETTING GO and didn't realize it's written in "dialect". That annoyed me about Blood Red Road (Dust Lands, #1) by Moira Young even though I ended up liking the book.

The dialect is very similar in Chaos Walking (makes me think the author copied Patrick Ness??) -- but you get used to it. I think Chaos Walking kicks Blood Red Road's behind but like I said I didn't fall in love with Chaos until book two.

Bluemoon I've read Case of the Missing Marques and it wsa just ok for me too - a little too middle grade for an old lady like myself! If you want a Sherlock spin off for adults I recommend The Beekeeper's Apprentice The Beekeeper's Apprentice (Mary Russell, #1) by Laurie R. King

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Finished The Horn of Moran (Adventurers Wanted, #2) by M.L. Forman . The writing wasn't very good. The series has potential so I will try the next book.

Still reading The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness . Should be done in the next day or two.

Not sure what's next on my list other than The Book Thief.

You haven't read Monsters of Men OR A Monster Calls yet? Ahhhh!!! Well, you should finish Chaos Walking ... the last book is so good and so beautiful, oh goodness gracious. A Monster Calls is amazing too, but I wouldn't say either book takes away from the amazingness of the other. They're very different (besides having rather similar titles, lol).

Samantha | 1 comments I actually just finished reading this book I stumbled across on Amazon. Its called Bound part 1 by some author named Janet Smith and I liked it even though it was short and had a few errors. It was about a woman named Carly, who was struggling to keep her family farm after her compulsive gambling husband caused them to almost lose it. She was forced to, even though, she didn't want to, go along with her husband in getting a loan from the only person in town that would help them, a loan shark named Mr. Stevens, but after they get it and things start going good, he come back to collect his repayment. But, the thing is, he doesn't want money he wants them to murder two people instead and from then on things get out of control. It's a great e-book. I hope other people will check it out too.

Melodie (melodieco) Finished Prodigy (Legend, #2) by Marie Lu in the wee hours this morning when I couldn't sleep. Liked it, but not as much as LEGEND. Seems most of these dystopian trilogies suffer from 2nd book letdown. Of those that I've read, the only time that hasn't been the case was with PANDEMONIUM which I actually thought was better than DELIRIUM.

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments I am so behind on my reading goal. Are we okay talking about non-YA books we're reading?

I don't think I am currently reading any YA books but I plan on starting The Night Circus really soon, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower

I am reading a book called The Happines Trap by Russ Harris... and it is non-fic and amazing.

I've had the flu so I haven't been doing as much reading as normal. I have to catch up. I am guessing I will read 3-4 of my YA fics I have randomly lying around and need to read and decide to keep or donate :3

Kaylani hope you are feeling better. I know how you feel about not being able to read. I am always wondering how people can say they stayed home sick and ended up reading a lot because when I am sick I can't read anything! What is the Happiness Trap about?? It sounds self explanatory but thought I would check. I don't read a ton of non fiction books unless they are buy awesome ladies like Tina Fey and Mindy Kaling. The best non fiction book I have ever read was The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot . I am always reading cozy mysteries along with YA books but if I posted all of them I would bore you all to death!
