Oh and I started reading:

Persepolis The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi

It's for a class, but I've been meaning to read it for a long time. Amazing so far! It makes me want to try more graphic novels ...

Lloyd | 110 comments If you ever want recommendations, I spent the first half of my life reading TONS of graphic novels. There is lots of really, really good stuff out there.

Hey, this is a public zone. There could be minors reading this. Gotta be careful, soldier lady!

Do you know of ones that are acceptable for the under 10 crowd? My son loves graphic novels but I'm not very familiar with the genre.

message 3956: by Kaylani (new)

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments I don't know what I'm reading. There's like 6 books... and I just want to go back to bed.

SO. I know Tallahassee Higgins is one of them.

I also woke up when I got really pissed off in a dream because for every book you donated in this book drive... you got 10 dollars credit for book purchases at barnes and noble... and my books turned themselves invisible because they loved me ... XD I was like COME THE HELL OUT ..

Well I know someone named CHARMAINE who someone named HEIDI is going to bother in March :) p.s. I am serious about mailing out my copy to any of the regular group members here if they are ok with mailing it back later. I would still love the revisit the Around the World thing with a book but would like the make sure whoever agrees to it is a regular participator in the group this time because the last time my book got stuck with the first reader!

Nice of you to offer your book :-) I already have access to getting the Book Thief so that's okay. :-) I would like to participate in the next Around the World thing - I would definitely mail the book back because I'm a stickler with those kinds of things :-) And no problem, nice of you to clean up here!

After Lloyd mentioned the movie I looked it up and remember when the movie came out because it got great reviews. To be honest I have never really read a graphic novel. I did look through Watchmen when my hubby got it from a co-worker but that is about the extent of it. I am going out on a limb admitting this but I used to be SUPER into regular comics and often got Archie and Jughead. Don't think any less of me. I also used to love Mad Magazine but I am not sure if that makes me sound better or worse!

I haven't really had much experience with graphic novels either, but I really enjoyed it. Very powerful, but it also has a lot of humor. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. :)

Um...I collected, read and devoured comics for over 30 years. I worked at Dark Horse Comics for almost 6 before they broke me down and ruined the passion I once had for the medium. So...I'm certainly NEVER going to think less of someone for enjoying comics. It makes me sad that there is still a stigma about reading them, like you're a dork or less of a person because of it.

I'm curious, and I'm sorry about bugging you, but what exactly is going on in the comics industry? I mean, I know Disney bought Marvel, but is the industry really going that far downhill?
