What are you currently reading?
If you ever want recommendations, I spent the first half of my life reading TONS of graphic novels. There is lots of really, really good stuff out there.

Hey, this is a public zone. There could be minors reading this. Gotta be careful, soldier lady!
Lloyd wrote: "If you ever want recommendations, I spent the first half of my life reading TONS of graphic novels. I don't know what I'm reading. There's like 6 books... and I just want to go back to bed. SO. I know Tallahassee Higgins is one of them.
I also woke up when I got really pissed off in a dream because for every book you donated in this book drive... you got 10 dollars credit for book purchases at barnes and noble... and my books turned themselves invisible because they loved me ... XD I was like COME THE HELL OUT ..

I bet those are a good re-read - you would catch a lot more things now that you know what you know and of course there is always the tubthumping scene...

Hahaha I just read the tubthumping scene last night!!They are almost as good the second time around! I caught a ton of stuff in the first two books. I hadn't realized its been almost 3 years since I've read them so I've even forgotten some things, which is nice! :)

We got him Amulet & Bone. He gets a bunch of superhero ones from the library. Also some selective Doug Tennapel since some are OK and some are too old for him.

I know someone named CHARMAINE who has not read it either (The Book Thief) ;-) but the title already sounds interesting :-) I keep seeing the book in libraries and bookstores! I'm glad it's the book for March :-)

Well I know someone named CHARMAINE who someone named HEIDI is going to bother in March :) p.s. I am serious about mailing out my copy to any of the regular group members here if they are ok with mailing it back later. I would still love the revisit the Around the World thing with a book but would like the make sure whoever agrees to it is a regular participator in the group this time because the last time my book got stuck with the first reader!

Hey I hope my fellow moderators are ok with this but I went through and kind of cleaned up our threads. I deleted the newsletter info because the last post was in 2010 about that whole thing and I added some folders including GENRES and RECOMMENDATIONS. I also moved some folders around including this one :) Sorry in advance but I get kind of particular sometimes!

I'm finally reading
, hopefully as part of a buddy read in my other YA Lover's group if I can drum up enough interest!

After Lloyd mentioned the movie I looked it up and remember when the movie came out because it got great reviews. To be honest I have never really read a graphic novel. I did look through Watchmen when my hubby got it from a co-worker but that is about the extent of it. I am going out on a limb admitting this but I used to be SUPER into regular comics and often got Archie and Jughead. Don't think any less of me. I also used to love Mad Magazine but I am not sure if that makes me sound better or worse!

I worked at Dark Horse Comics for almost 6 before they broke me down and ruined the passion I once had for the medium. So...I'm certainly NEVER going to think less of someone for enjoying comics. It makes me sad that there is still a stigma about reading them, like you're a dork or less of a person because of it.

I'm actually really interested in reading that book. It's been on my TBR for so long.

I didn't work on any titles. Spent a long time beating my head against a wall trying to work my way into editorial, so I could spearhead creative teams and help publish great comics. Alas, it didn't work out. (Probably a blessing in disguise, seeing how the industry is going)

I mean, I know Disney bought Marvel, but is the industry really going that far downhill?
Probably not. But it certainly hasn't matured or grown like I once hoped it would. Instead, it grew stale and started recycling recycled ideas. (Like most everything else these days)

I skipped Matched as many of my GR peeps said I would hate it but still need to check out Delirium because I heard I many not want to poke my eye out while reading it (hahaha). p.s. I sure hope it is not as drawn out as her other book

Yeah, Matched wasn't that great. I like the Delirium books, though. It's pretty much the same premise, but handled much better in my opinion. ;)
