Reading Fire Country, David's newest book that is the sister series to
series. All I can say is AMAZING! I'm devouring this book so fast. It's even better than The Dweller trilogy, if that's even possible?!! Soooo good!

That one looks fun. I wonder if it is good on audiobook.

YAAAAY I know right? Ugh, that ending. So beautiful. It just killed me.
Oh and I'm loving UnWholly so far! I wasn't sure how I would feel about it since initially I didn't think Unwind needed a sequel ... but I'm really glad Neal Shusterman wrote a second book. It's so genius.

That ending was magic, that's the only word I can use to describe it :)
So glad you're enjoying UnWholly, I was worried about the sequel slump but it just keeps getting better. Those unwinding scenes are insanely well written. Enjoy!!

I haven't gotten to any unwinding scenes yet ... *Gulp* But the one in the first book was so amazing. I read it like 5+ years ago and it's still so clear in my mind. Agh.

Lol I'm trying to remember, I think maybe there's just one in the second book as well, but it was so vivid and heart wrenching and cringeworthy, similar to the one in the first book ;)

Yes it was!
Yes it was!

I read the first two in this series and gave up. I couldn't see how he was going to drag the series out for six books. Also the author kind of snapped at one of my GR friends in her review so it turned me off to him.

Yes I remember that now! I couldn't believe he would snap at a reader like that!
Holy crap you're kidding me! That's awful!! Well I hope I like it although I'll have to try to forget what the author did to your friend because that's a huge turn off for me. I'm thinking this will be the only one I'll read in the series :)

It was Wendy F and she gave it 3 stars! It wasn't even as if she gave him 1 star!

Wow! 3 stars is not a bad rating! You can't force everybody to love your work..

Yes don't let us deter you. I just could not see investing myself into 6 books in that particular series (I think there are to be 6 books). I know a lot of people love it.

I enjoying it but that's still so incredibly shocking that he made a nasty comment on a 3 star review, is it still there, do you have a link? If it's too hard to find, no worries, I'm just so intrigued by the seemingly silly and unprofessional author, particularly one who's a billion times bigger than me lol
I try to read/rate a book by itself and ignore the personality of the author. Though I will try my best not to purchase books from an author that is known to have problems accepting criticism (or 3 star ratings).

Same. And I only read the first book before giving up ... I just couldn't imagine how it was supposed to drag out for six whole books. I was already fed up by the end of the first one. :-/ I recently read some spoilers from the most recent book and it just sounds like they keep getting more ridiculous ... And oh yeah, I remember seeing the author being rude to your friend, Heidi. Not cool.
But yeah, a lot of people still love them. (Judging by how often my negative review of the first book has been viciously trolled ... lol.)

I'm 50% in and quite enjoying it actually lol!
I actually read all of those books. I'm up to date. I gave one of his books a 3 star review and he commented on it and passively argued with my reasoning. I'm sure it's still on my review.
HAHA!! Oh wait, you were talking about me!! Yep, it was me! I didn't read up far enough, hahaha. And it was obvious I was a fan because all the others got 4 star reviews.
Lol!! It was you!! Too funny :) I still can't believe he commented on it and argued, especially when you're clearly a fan :)
Well, I just read through the thread and I thought it was pretty mundane and civil lol. It was only that one point where I think someone else thought Grant was arguing the review, but really he wasn't. It was more of an intellectual conversation than anything. Not as shocking as I expected lol although I'm still surprised he commented :) In any case, it made me feel better about the whole thing!
LMAO, that's the part that I didn't understand. It was a review for
, which is the 4th book. So obviously I liked the series, I'm not sure why he felt he needed to defend himself to me, when there are others who didn't even like the first book. The funny part is that he was arguing with me, but at the same time he was trying to act like it was just conversational.
Here's the link, since you asked for it.
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
LOl thanks :) I found the conversation to be interesting, mostly because you got to see his perspective. But both my wife and I agree that he would have been better served sending you a personal message if all he wanted to do was have a debate with you. It's always a risk when an author comments on a review. I think maybe he just enjoys debating but he just needs to choose the time and the place to do it, not on a review where it could be perceived as bullying.
I agree ... I'm generally not a fan of an author commenting on a review of their own book. (I mean, unless it's to thank the reviewer for positive comments I guess, but even that makes me feel kind of weird because I feel like the author is ... watching me or something. I don't know. XD) But yeah, conversing with the reviewer through private messages makes more sense to me.
Yeah, I was nervous when he first posted. But the more the conversation went on the more I wondered if he was just trying chat. Especially because his facebook is pretty relaxed. A PM would have been better.
Yeah I mean ... it just feels really awkward when it's out there for the world to see. Haha. I had quite an awkward situation really recently where an author commented on a really negative review I'd written of her book ... she was actually quite nice about it, but still. It just weirded me out a bit. O_o
Yeah Wendy after I typed my comment I was like "wait a minute Wendy isn't even in this group!" so I send you an invite to join us! :) I don't think Wendy is the only person that author has had "conversations" with but I can't remember the specifics anymore.
LOL that's pretty funny actually how "involved" he gets publicly with his reviewers. In any case, I'm glad it led to Wendy coming to join us!
Shannen where are you? I just read there is going to be a sequel to Beautiful Disaster! Ugh! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Thanks Heidi, you rock too! You're one of my first Goodreads friends, lol. Without you'd Id'a never have found Jellicoe Road or Chaos Walking! :)Darren, I read those. I fell off somewhere around book 10, but I loved them and want to get back to it. It's just hard to get back into a series as intricate as that one is after not reading for so long and starting it over from the beginning is daunting.

I think I heard there's going to be a movie, too. *Headsmack*
I haven't actually read it, but just reading reviews of it made me angry. I'm pretty sure it would make me want to stab out my eyeballs. I might read it anyway at some point, the next time I need to get an angry review out of my system ... XD

What?! A movie??? Nooooooooo! Well you have been warned you do read it Brigid! Shannen warned me and I read it anyway so I know how that goes! Please don't buy it. You can borrow my Kindle copy!

I'm a Heidi convert of Chaos and Jellicoe Road as well! How many of us are there out here?? Hehehehehee... ;-)
Well that is quite a time investment there Darren! I barely want to start YA series with more than 3 books! Hope they aren't all 500 pages!
My evil plan is foiled! What can I say when I love something I shout it from the roof tops! Well with my fear of heights I actually shout it from my computer desk, but same thing!
Darren and Wendy you have my utmost admiration! 600-1000 pages each!? Yowza. Must be good stuff go keep you coming back.
I read them all back to back and burnt out. Not because they weren't great, but because it was just so much so fast.

Haha, I won't buy it. And ... don't worry, I'll find a way to read it. *Shifty eyes* Heehee.

So last night I finished:
AHHHHH so good. I don't know if I loved it quite as much as the first book, but it was still amazing. Neal Shusterman never disappoints. :)
And this morning I started:
YAYYYY AT LAAAAST! I HAVE WAITED SO LONG. <3 Gotta say though, I really don't like the new covers. Bleh. Also, my mom is also reading it ... I'm reading it on my Kindle and she has a physical copy. But anyway, I was looking at her copy and noticed that like EVERY single blurb on it compared it to The Hunger Games. They were all like "ALMOST AS GOOD AS THE HUNGER GAMES." *Headdesk* I'm just getting so sick of this ... NOT EVERY DYSTOPIAN BOOK IS LIKE THE HUNGER GAMES. AAGGHHH. Well. Anyway. Whatever. Oh yeah, and also it's pretty good so far. ;)
