Gave up on The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern because it was making reading a chore. Started Blood Solstice (The Tale of Lunarmorte, #3) by Samantha Young .

Wow we are a quiet bunch this week! I am reading all cozies right now but plan to start our Nov read Death Cloud on audiobook tonight. I could use some assistance with the Dec group read -- I have two books I can't decide between - so feel free to help me out on that thread if you have time :)

I did love the first book, but this one is good too. Not sure how you will fare though Heidi as I'd say the first one was much better. Although I'm only at 60% and for me the first 30% wasn't that impressive, but the last 30% has been making up for it, and I'm hoping the last 40% will be even better!

Yup when I emailed him (Jonathan) to tell him his book was our monthly read he told me he was on a book tour and just sold the rights to the movie *squee*

Can't wait to see how Flesh & Bone is -- come back and update when you are done!! I like first two books A LOT!

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I haven't read the Benny books (though I do remember starting the first one), but I have read his Joe Ledger books (not the latest one yet). Well, read, but mainly listened to them. I LOVED, loved, loved them. Joe Ledger is a beast! The audiobooks are very good. They aren't YA though.

message 3380: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 110 comments At this point, I'm wondering what I'm NOT reading. I can't seem to hook myself into any one book right now. I hate this reading restlessness! Plus, I don't have much time to read these days. And when I do, it's only in small little doses before bed at night. Where exhaustion inevitably wins every time. (Much too quickly these days.)

But I'll keep on trying! This current one A Thousand Suns by Alex Scarrow is going good. Different from the types of books I've been reading of late. Maybe it's the one! :)

Umm did you say 6-8 weeks??? Get yourself to a doctor Lloyd! I had a cold for less than 2 weeks and I was nearly headed to the doctor myself! I am sorry to hear you are so stressed. I just spent a week with my 6 year old neice and man that wore me out! I can see why you are sick. I don't know you you parents do it. I think I would have a kid if they were already trained and could sit in their room and be quiet for more than 5 minutes-- say around 8 years old. Yeah that is it -- if they were 8 and fully trained I might consider it! Is your newer job more stressful than your previous one??

I wouldn't trade the time with my son for anything in the universe. He's everything to me, even if he does wear me out a LOT.

Is my new job stressful? Meh. It's a job. The part that bothers me is the overall non-existent morale there and the office politics and usual bs. I REALLY need to find a way to make a better living.

As for the doctor. I'll be returning to one soon. I'm still dealing with the repercussions of what I thought was an ear infection which later turns out I suffered some kind of permanent hearing loss/nerve damage. Which turned into a semi-scare of a possible tumor and an expensive MRI. So I've now fallen in debt almost $800 (that's WITH insurance!) to find out that there isn't a tumor (thank God), yet there is a benign growth on my pituitary gland. I'm pointed from one _____-ologist to another. Ultimately, they tell me there isn't anything to worry about. But I'm exactly where I was before I went to the doctor. Partially deaf. One more -ologist to go later in December. (Endocrinologist - just to make sure nothing is funky because of the growth).

Yeah. Quite a year. Of course, I eventually have to have another MRI to make sure the growth isn't growing. But I have to pay the first one off first.

Blah, blah, blah. Now I've rambled on too long. :P

Wow Lloyd! That all sounds horrible! I would freak out if I lost my hearing. My sinus issues caused a similar problem for me where I could not hear in my left ear for a week and I freaked and went to the doctor. Luckily for me it cleared up. Sorry yours is ongoing! Also I think a lot of work places have terrible leadership and morale. I struggle daily to remind myself that I can only control my own actions and reactions at work.

You can adopt an 8 year old! LOL. I always joked with my husband that we should adopt an 18 year old, then send them off to college. All our work would already be done (besides laundry on the weekend). It's funnier when I'm actually saying this with facial expressions and hand gestures. Reading it makes me seem mean, haha. In all seriousness, I've always wanted to adopt an older child.

Lloyd I hope they find out what's wrong. Not knowing is the worst (especially with deductibles adding up!) Have you tried calling the different places and making payment arrangements? They are usually very good about it. Once, my son had to see a few doctors because his nostrils hate him (true story) and the bills (with insurance) almost made me cry. One place said I could pay $15 a month. It surprised me, but I thought it was nice of them.
