Ashley (readerandwriter) I recently finished "If I Stay". I am continuing with "Spirit Bound" by Richelle Mead and starting "Queste" by Angie Sage.

Ashley wrote: "Bluemoon wrote: "ASHLEY: hows the Red Pyramid? I ordered this book along with other ones I received today, but for some reason didn't get this one."

I finished The Red Pyramid and it was awesome..."

Yes! I agree. Great book. I love that Rick Riordan <3

So, I finished Leaving Paradise this morning. Eh. Well, I don't want to spoil anything but I didn't like the ending. As a whole it was okay.

Now I'm moving on to Radiant Shadows (Wicked Lovely #4) by Melissa Marr. :] eeep excited!

I am reading The Dark Divine (The Dark Divine, #1) by Bree Despain and listening to Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale and Undead and Unwed (Undead, #1) by MaryJanice Davidson on audio.

message 255: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I've heard good things about The Dark Divine. Ooh hope you like The Book of a Thousand Days. I'm a Shannon Hale fan.

I recently finished reading the Kate Daniels books
Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews Magic Strikes (Kate Daniels, #3) by Ilona Andrews Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels, #4) by Ilona Andrews

I love these books, still can't get them out of my head. I now have a favorite urban fantasy series. :) I'm planning to read this next:

Princess Ben by Catherine Gilbert Murdock

message 256: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) I'm going to start Crocodile Tears by Anthony Horowitz and Heir to Sevenwaters by Juliet Marillier soon :)

Crocodile Tears (Alex Rider, #8) by Anthony Horowitz Heir to Sevenwaters by Juliet Marillier

message 257: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Heir to Sevenwaters! I heard it just came out in paperback? I still have to read the other two Sevenwaters books.

message 258: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) It's been out in paperback for a while in the U.S. but Seer of Sevenwaters, which is the fifth book in the series, comes out in December! :D

Seer of Sevenwaters (Sevenwaters #5) by Juliet Marillier

But I'm actually more excited for a new YA trilogy Juliet Marillier has coming out in 2013... a long while away but I'm hoping it's really good! No synopsis yet but it's called the Shadowfell trilogy :)

Untitled by Juliet Marillier

message 259: by Chachic (new)

Chachic There's a fifth book coming out?! I'm behind! I really loved Daughter of the Forest so I'm excited to read the other books in the series.

I didn't really care for Wildwood Dancing, I mean it was okay but it wasn't as great as Daughter of the Forest. I hope her new YA series is better.

message 260: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) Hehe yeup there's going to be six books total in the Sevenwaters series. I hope her new YA will be really good as well! But I just would like to know what it's even going to be about first. Hopefully there'll be news soon :D

message 261: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Haha yeah, I want to know what is it going to be about as well.

message 262: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Still reading a book from the Sevenwaters series:

Child of the Prophecy (Sevenwaters, #3) by Juliet Marillier

Amy, how's it going with Heir to Sevenwaters? I hear it's better than Child of the Prophecy. I called our bookstore and it's available in a different branch so I had it transferred to the one near me. I hope I get it before I finish reading Child of the Prophecy.

message 263: by Amy (last edited Jul 12, 2010 09:18PM) (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) I've only just started it but it's pretty good! My favorite is still Daughter of the Forest because the writing was so nice and it had a fairy tale feel to it but Heir is going along great so far!

message 264: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I love both Daughter of the Forest and Son of the Shadows. I liked Liadan just as much as I liked Sorcha. I know, that was such a heartbreaking scene. Poor Red! :(

message 265: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Agh! Spoilers!!

message 266: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I know! I was trying to edit Amy's comment when I replied but I couldn't!

message 267: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) Eeh sorry! I deleted it but at least it's not important to the plot.

message 268: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Yes Peep, it's not important to the plot and it wasn't that surprising.

message 269: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) I just finished "Spirit Bound" by Richelle Mead finally. I am going to continue with "Queste" by Angie Sage and "Burned" by P.C. Cast. I am also going to start "The Giver" by Lois Lowry.

message 270: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Still haven't read the latest Vampire Academy novel! The Giver is one of my favorite books as a child, hope you'll like it too, Ashley.

message 271: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) The Giver was actually a book I had to read in the 6th grade. Didn't really comprehend it back then. We will see what my opinion is of it now.

message 272: by Chelly (new)

Chelly Wood (mfogelsong) | 1 comments Leven Thumps, first book. I'm on page 81 and enjoying it. I expected it to be very Harry-Potterish, but it's not.

message 273: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
As I am old, The Giver was not out when I was in school. I was not a huge fan of it as an adult. I think it is better for middle graders.

message 274: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I loved it when I read it as a kid but I haven't been able to re-read it recently so I'm not sure how I'll feel about it as an adult.

message 275: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) I finished The Giver the other night. I am continuing with Queste by Angie Sage.

message 276: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Bluemoon - Ender's Game didn't look like something I could get into so I skipped it. Like you said, it just seemed a little weird.

message 277: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) I recently finished "The Wave" by Todd Strasser. I am starting Lord of the Flies by William Golding. I am also continuing with othe books I got going.

message 278: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I'm currently reading this one, which was recommended by Sarah Rees Brennan (we even had a Twitter conversation about this book):

The Changeover A Supernatural Romance by Margaret Mahy

So far, so good!

message 279: by Amelia (new)

Amelia | 38 comments Just finished Virals by the auther of the Bones series.
Virals by Kathy Reichs
My blog review won't be coming out for a while, since the book isn't published until November. I thought it was suspenseful, but I had a little issue with the main character because for being so smart it took her a long time to figure out something that was obvious to me. That was really my only issue with the book, so I guess I can't complain too much. I'd read the second one, although it's not due out for another year.

Next on my list is The Deathday Letter and Eyes Like Stars. I'm finishing up Fever Crumb which really isn't striking my fancy but I can't figure out why.

Oh and I'm listening to The Help, which isn't young adult but is extraordinary. I'm almost a week overdue returning it to the library (the audiobook is close to 18 hours long). The hold list though is forever and I'd rather pay the fine then wait through the list again to finish it.

message 280: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Finished The Changeover and I loved it! I'm going to start this one next:

Tall Story by Candy Gourlay

Which is a book by a Filipino author. It's the first Filipino YA that I'm going to read!

message 281: by Amy (last edited Jul 24, 2010 09:01PM) (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) I finally got around to reading Heir to Sevenwaters! It's pretty good so far.

Heir to Sevenwaters (Sevenwaters, #4) by Juliet Marillier

Oh and speaking of Harry Potter, I heard that J.K. Rowling is possibly writing a new book! So maybe we can expect a new book from her in the following 3 or 4 years :D

message 282: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Amy, I loved Heir to Sevenwaters! Clodagh and Cathal are just as amazing as the characters in the first two books. I didn't really like the third one.

message 283: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) Hehe yes I'm loving Cathal right now! And really disliking Aidan... I still think Daughter of the Forest is the most amazing one yet, partially because of the fairy tale vibe it gave off. The subsequent novels sort of lost that surreal feeling! But they're still great :)

message 284: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I loved Son of the Shadows and Heir to Sevenwaters just as much as Daughter of the Forest. I really like the world that Juliet Marillier created and I feel like all of them still have a fairy tale feeling.

I haven't checked this group in a while. :P Anyway, right now I'm reading Scarlett Fever by Maureen Johnson. Woot! I love Maureen Johnson. :]

message 286: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Brigid, I've read Suite Scarlett and I really liked that one! But not enough to buy the hardcover of Scarlett Fever. I'll wait for it to come out in paperback.

I finished Tall Story and I'm ready to read this one:

Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken

message 287: by Amelia (new)

Amelia | 38 comments Finally finished The Help
The Help by Kathryn Stockett
It was brillant! You have to read this book. The description just doesn't do it justice. And if you have a chance to listen to the audio book, do it!

Here's my full review if you want to read it:

Looking at my stack of books trying to figure out what I should read next...

The Help is my favorite book of the decade.

message 289: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I gave The Help to my mom for Mother's Day and she really liked it. I haven't read it though.

message 290: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) I just finished "Queste" by Angie Sage. I am now going to continue with "Burned" by PC &Kristin Cast so I can get that done and move on to other books.

message 291: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) I'm almost finished with LIES by Michael Grant. It's addicting and very very good :)

Lies A Gone Novel by Michael Grant

message 292: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments OoOo Chachic I have been wanting to read Brightly Woven but I haven't heard a thing about it. Please let me know what you think?

message 293: by Ashley (last edited Aug 03, 2010 05:36PM) (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) I just finally finished "Burned" by PC Cast. I am now going to read Fallen (Fallen, #1) by Lauren Kate . It should be interesting. I've seen quite a few bad reviews on it and I wanna read and find out why.

message 294: by Chachic (new)

Chachic No problem, Kourtni! I'll let you know what I think of it as soon as I'm done.

message 295: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Just finished reading The Sky is Everywhere and I hope more people read it and join the discussion. :)

message 296: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (chloebooklover) | 33 comments I just started The Forest of Hands and Teeth... So far its going well, but I just finished reading The Reckoning yesterday and I loved it, so its going to be hard to beat!

message 297: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Haven't read The Forest of Hands and Teeth but I've seen mixed reviews of that one. Some people loved it while others thought it was just okay. The Summoning was our monthly read a couple of months back but I never read the sequels. I know several people in this group love the series though.

message 298: by Chachic (new)

Chachic What did you think of Catching Fire, Bluemoon? Good thing you finished reading it already! Just in time for Mockingjay.

message 299: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Yeah, a lot of people are saying that Catching Fire is too much like the Hunger Games. I still liked it though so I hope Mockingjay won't be disappointing.

message 300: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Oh I know what you mean. Hmm maybe it feels like that because it just continues where the story left off in The Hunger Games?

To get back on topic. I just finished reading this last night:

Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs

And will probably start on this one tonight:

Blood Bound (Mercedes Thompson, #2) by Patricia Briggs
