What are you currently reading?
Ha Heidi! Bitterblue will definitely cause significant wrist pain! I was planning on reading Froi next but now I'm thinking it'll have to wait.
Anna is good so far. Really loving Cas.
I need to read Froi but the size of it scares me. It might have to wait until fall/winter.

.I don't like it at all... This is the first Sarah Dessen book I've read and I think I might give up on it.
I'm also reading
.
Heidi: Thanks for the info about those free audiobooks over the summer :-D I'm trying to listen to audiobooks more often since they will help me achieve my reading goal, especially for car trips :-)Meagan: 13 Little Blue Envelopes wasn't bad - I liked the travel aspects of it. The sequel was more enjoyable for me. :-)

it's really interesting so far. It's annoying that I'm behind my reading goal because of school, but this summer I will do my best to catch up on reading :-)
Bluemoon wrote: "KOURTNI: How are you liking bitterblue?"Its okay Bluemoon, pretty slow paced. Definitely not as good as Graceling or Fire. But I want to know the answers to all the questions brought up in the first two books so I keep reading on!

Kourtni gave it 4 stars so I think she must have liked it overall. I have to start it soon myself :)

Maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind for that particular book. I almost gave it 3 stars, but the writing is just so darn good. Its the story that was a bit of a let down. Also some of my favorite characters let me down as well.

I have really liked her books and am waiting for the next book in that series to come out.

I've been reading it a while . . . like on page 400 or something! I like it, but not as much as I like the tv show . . . Though they're actually very, very similar.

I liked quite a bit it but didn't LOVE it.

Finished reading The Monstrumologist today, and I got the next two out of the library. Woohoo! ^_^ Now I'm reading:
I'm already like halfway through it. Really good so far!

It was similar to the second one. Pretty much, they have about 3 days to save the world and they jump from one danger to another. I thought quite a bit was predictable but the humorous side comments were fun. I found Sadie a little annoying at times, but maybe that's because I'm more of a nerd like Carter.

Started
and also
on audiobook. Having a tough time with the audiobook though. It's my first one ever and not quite sure where or how to listen to it and keep my attention. I work from home so I don't really spend time driving. And I live in Arizona so taking a walk is out. I've tried just sitting and listening but almost fall asleep and have to keep rewinding. What does everyone else do? I feel like I'm really impatient and have no control. I like to read fast, especially during action scenes. I like the book and want to hear the rest! Suggestions?

I listen while I drive, get ready in the morning, clean, walk, cook, etc... It is not for everyone but sometimes it is the narrator (i.e. they are not very good). I always tell people to try a really excellent audiobook and if you still don't like them then it is not for you. I would also say that I never hear 100% of an audiobook. My mind tends to wander sometimes but I always get the jist of what is going on so it is ok. I don't expect to hear every single word.

That's what always happens to me with audiobooks ... except sometimes my mind wanders so much that I don't even remember what's happening. lol. But lately I've been trying to get more into audiobooks. Recently I've been listening to a chapter of Emma every night before I fall asleep ...

I think you ladies need to listen to a really good audiobook and get back to me! I only listen to audiobooks at night that I have read already because I don't remember anything after the first 10 minutes.
My mind tends to wander with audiobooks and I just get the gist of what is being said, like what Heidi mentioned, but it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who experiences that. :-DCinder is good so far - still reading that one.
Ohhhh.. I thought it was just me! I tried listening while getting ready this morning and found myself thinking about my work day and had to keep rewinding! :-) Ok... with what you ladies said, I will listen a little each day for as long as my attention span can handle it. I have a week of beach time and road trip coming up so maybe I'll save it for the car ride!

Bluemoon wrote: "BRIGID: so the monstrumology series is good? I have the first one but haven't gotten to reading it yet"
I'm loving them. Although to warn you, they're quite ... gruesome. I'm not typically into horror, but I find the writing and characters so likable that I don't mind the gore so much. It's sort of like a gothic-fantasy-horror version of Sherlock Holmes or something. ;)

Bluemoon wrote: "BRIGID: Why didn't you like it?"I'm reading it, too, Bluemoon - just started it today. And it's pretty weird - I don't understand everything about their world. One of the main characters can smell people's feelings. They use a lot of slang words like "zap" that are popular in their world. It's kinda hard for me to get into.
I agree with what Charmaine said. There are so many weird slang words that the dialogue feels pretty ridiculous at times. The author doesn't do a very good job establishing the world, so it takes a while to even understand what's going on. And the love interest is a creep who smells people's feelings, beheads people, threatens to kill the protagonist, and thinks her period smells like "violets." But he's supposed to be sexy, I guess? It's ... strange. And it's just another abusive relationship being passed off as romantic ...
Hi, I'm Helen. (: I'm new to the group and I guess I should have introduced myself in the introductions section, but I guess it's too late now. :P Hope you don't mind. Anyways, I'm reading
and it's definitely a pageturner. Love the names in this book. Try saying 'Finnikin' and tell me it's not catchy. Haha, yeah so the book's good, that's pretty much all I have to say.

Did the author think that women want men to find us especially desirable during our periods? Gag. I won't be reading that one.
Bluemoon - You called it "Finnikin on the Rocks" instead of Finnikin OF the Rock! It's 5:00 somewhere, right? I'll have a drink of that tall, dark and handsome! LOL!
