Hahaha! The love is coming through loud and clear Heidi! I didn't make it very far into The Piper's Son before I fell asleep last night, but so far Tom is just pissing me off. I shall read more tonight with hopes that I enjoy it more than I did last night.

Did you see that I said Tom was wonderfully flawed?! Seriously poor Tom. You will understand him more later. Trust me.

Her books tend to be confusing like that... but, somewhere in the middle they start to make sense. Haha. :) Also, I love her writing style!

Oh yeah, I finally finished The Scorpio Races! It was pretty good, although it took a while for it to get exciting. Overall I liked it, though. And now I've just started Daughter of the Forest which I know Heidi loves, so I'm looking forward to it. ^_^ Aaand I'm also reading Treasure Island on my iPod, but I'm really only reading that when I'm stuck anywhere without a book. lol.

message 2306: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Yes I saw that Heidi! I have faith in Melina. I trust that I will eventually love this book as much as her others.

Brigid I love her writing style as well. I believe Jellicoe Road was pretty confusing at first too if I'm remembering correctly. And I LURVED Jellicoe Road!

Yeah, Jellicoe Road was very confusing. But everything fit together at the end. :)

You'll love Tom soon enough, Kourtni! Wonderfully flawed is a perfect way to describe him. :)

Oh my! Remember when I said earlier that I was ready for the pain in The Fault in Our Stars by John Green ? Ok....soooo...I was LYING! I haven't put it down for like 2 hours and I have 40 pages left and I. Just. Can't. Do. It. I am already worked up and haven't even reached the end. I love these two protagonists too much! I need to finish it, but I can't!

message 2310: by [deleted user] (new)

Sounds like I need to read that one, Heidi!

Ok....so I pulled the band aid off and just finished it. Is it March yet so I can share in my joy and pain with others?? Lloyd where are you? I know you read it. I hope this is one that most of our group reads because I think it is worth it!

Currently reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

I need to read both of those but they are so expensive. I know, I know...you'll say they are worth it but $9.99 is my limit for Kindle books. I wouldn't even buy the last Vampire Academy book because it was over that amount.

I got both from the library - I know you have a card now!

message 2322: by [deleted user] (new)

Yep but my library didn't have either of them the last time I looked. :(

Still reading The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa . The writing is good but it is VERY fantasy. I'm going to keep reading just to see where it goes. Hopefully it will get more back to the urban part of urban fantasy.

They have it with the other library in our county which is smaller. My library really sucks when it comes to YA. They are getting better but I really want to have a sit down with the person who orders the YA books.

Finished The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa and liked it so much that I requested the next book from my library. It is much more fantasy than urban fantasy which isn't really my thing but I ended up really liking it.

Just started Ethereal (Celestra, #1) by Addison Moore .

message 2334: by Rolenda (last edited Feb 20, 2012 12:16AM) (new)

Rolenda (len12) | 89 comments Yay! Iron Fey series is really good!

This week I finished reading
Article 5 (Article 5, #1) by Kristen Simmons and was a bit disappointed. I thought it was more like of Legend by Marie Lu, but maybe I just expected too much.

Rot & Ruin (Benny Imura, #1) by Jonathan Maberry I was surprised that I'll love (really love) a zombie story! haha

Now I'm reading Dust & Decay (Benny Imura, #2) by Jonathan Maberry :)

I started The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern on audiobook Kourtni.

message 2337: by Mandy (new)

Mandy | 1 comments I just finished the book Hold Me Closer, Necromancer and I am totally in love and anticipating the next book!!! When I originally saw the cover and read the description I was honestly very skeptical. Another paranormal fantasy book with werewolves? I was think just switch the vampire with someone who can raise the dead instead, but I'm dead wrong (no pun intended). The book was so awesome I put off my homework (again) to finish it all in a day! I couldn't keep my hands off it! I was so engrossed! I just can't wait until the next book!!!!!

I'll have to put it on my tbr if you liked it so much! I really like fantasy so maybe I will like it that much more?

message 2340: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Okay one more post! It's been a long weeked of reading!

I finished The Piper's Son by Melina Marchetta over the weekend and I reeeeally liked it. I won't go as far as love but I feel justified in adding a reeeeeally to my like. I never fail to fall in love with Melina's characters. *Sigh*

I started The Name of the Wind by recommendation and I was a little nervous I wouldn't like it based on some of the other books this person likes. BUT I am really loving it! The world building is amazing and the main character is so intriguing. Alright I think I'm done yapping for a while. :)

I thought it almost had an Alice in Wonderland feel to it which I wasn't sure of in the beginning but throw a little romance in there and it makes it all better. Haha!

Yay! I love Tom. I think if you would have listened to the audiobook you would have turned from reeeeally liked to loved. I am fairly certain that is what put me over the edge. I can listen to those Aussie narrators all day long (remember my girl crush on the Jellicoe Road narrator? *sigh* memories *sigh*.

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Heidi I'm thinking I would have liked it more on audio. I kept trying to read it with an Aussie accent in my head and it just wasn't quite working for me! LoL

And The Night Circus only gets stranger, but that is part of why I liked it. :)

The audiobook is my preferred method. you must check them out. The reader is awesome and once you get used to the accents it’s more enjoyable than reading it. I shared the audio with my kids and for them it’s much easier to understand and to get the humor of the books. Humor, sadly too often, is wasted on my kids while they read.

I really enjoyed that book too. Maybe because Kvothe was more of a scholar and I enjoyed his intelligence...except for his choice of women. But...intellect has little to do with matters of the heart. Like I mentioned on your original post, I'll eventually continue on into "day two". I'm intrigued about what the overall story will actually BE about. It's amazing how there were about 700 pages FILLED with so much...yet barely scratching the story! :P

message 2348: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Lloyd: Kvothe's intelligence has a lot to do with it for me as well. And he's mysterious and dangerous and there is just so much I want to learn about him! I've read until 2:00 in the morning three nights in a row and I am just over halfway done!!! I need more reading time!

I have been thinking the same thing, Kourtni! Come on, people!

I finished reading Ethereal (Celestra, #1) by Addison Moore but don't know that I will read the rest of the series. It was OK but I am a more than a little interested in what happens to the MC.

Just started Existence (Existence Trilogy, #1) by Abbi Glines . There was no lead-up in this book. It starts right off which is kind of weird.
