Kourtni - Yay! I'm waiting for the third book while stalking the author's page on here. She actually responds to people when you write to her."

I think she is reading The Ask the Answer??

Super excited for Bitterblue :)

Oh, I think you're right, Heidi. I totally forgot.

Finished our January read The Scorpio Races (Sneak Peek) by Maggie Stiefvater which I loved and will be starting Blood Will Tell (Warriors of Ankh #1) by Samantha Young .

So do you think I would like Scorpio Races?

Rolenda (len12) | 89 comments Wow! Neal Shusterman really is the man! haha done with Everfound (Skinjacker, #3) by Neal Shusterman

Now I'm reading Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion :)

message 2156: by [deleted user] (new)

Heidi - I think you will like it. The race is only a very, very short part of the book. It's more about the two characters' lives leading up to the race. I can loan it to your Kindle if you want to PM me with your e-mail address.

Bluemoon - Happy to hear you are enjoying this book more than the first. It is a heavy series and I had to take a break between each book.

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Finished Significance (Significance, #1) by Shelly Crane yesterday. Several things I liked about it and only a few things that I didn't like so much. Overall I enjoyed it though! Well enough that I'm now reading Accordance (Significance, #2) by Shelly Crane anyways. :)

message 2158: by [deleted user] (new)

Kourtni - I think the second one is better than the first.

message 2159: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments There were so many mistakes!! Some of them were really bad mistakes too! It may sound petty, but that bothered me so much. And you know I am by NO means a picky reader.

message 2160: by [deleted user] (new)

The grammar thing bothers me too. I read one series that had the same grammatical error (used then instead of than) through three of the books and finally got it right with the fourth book. I'm sure these are independent authors who do their own editing. Hopefully, the more popularity (and money) they gain, the better the editing gets.

message 2161: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments I tried to keep the whole independent author thing in mind while reading, because I really do enjoy the story. But yeah, there had to be at least 50 errors. Words spelled wrong, usage errors, huge typos. Okay..rant over..for now. LoL

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Bluemoon- I liked Unwind quite a bit more than I liked the skinjacker series. Though I know others in here loved the series, I just didn't connect with those books as much.

Hmm, I'm not sure which I liked better... I definitely liked Unwind more than the first Skinjacker book. But then the second and third books in the series were so amazing ... gah.

I SO wish I felt like that about the skinjacker books. I enjoy nothing more than falling in love with books. Maybe something is wrong with my brain. Who knows!

I have a lot of books that are "just ok" or I "like", but very few I love love love. That just makes the ones I love even more special so it is a good thing Shannen!

It would just be horrible to read so many "just ok" books. I'm so disappointed when I read a so-so book.

message 2179: by Heidi (new)

Me too Shannen. I would say a majority of my books are in the like category since I joined GR so that is good :)

I'd say it's pretty similar with me ... I enjoy most books I read to a certain extent, but there are few books that I really, truly love.

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
Haha, I'm very picky about what books I buy. I typically only buy a book if I've already read it and loved it. (I usually get things out of the library first.) But occasionally I'll buy a book and then be disappointed in it... I used to use this site called SwapTree where you could exchange books with people, and I got some good books through that. But then the website got more complicated sooo I don't use it anymore. :/

message 2182: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Okay, I guess I don't LOVE the majority of the books I read. But I can honestly say I enjoy most of them. I'm not picky at all and I try to find the good in every book I read. I don't think I would read much if I thought most books were just okay...

message 2183: by Lloyd (last edited Jan 12, 2012 01:20PM) (new)

Lloyd | 110 comments I have little problem with books that give a genuine effort. I haven't HATED a book since the letdown of "The Road". (okay, maybe "hate" is too strong a word. Apathetic maybe? Just poorly executed - for me - on almost every level)

Now...movies and television, however, it a whole other ballgame. I rarely have seen something that has just blown me away in...wow, I can't even remember. More disappointments than not with that form of entertainment for me.

On another note...I'm still totally restless with reading. Jumping from book to book, unable to lock on to any one in particular.

Currently jumping between: Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee , Rise of the Evening Star (Fablehaven, #2) by Brandon Mull , and The Alchemyst (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #1) by Michael Scott . That doesn't mean another one won't join the list at any time!

(Sigh. I need a job or a career...)

Still hoping you find a job Lloyd! p.s. I loved the Road but I would NEVER read it again. Wow that was a soul sucker.

I know I was in the extreme minority about my opinion of The Road. But I agree with you about one thing. I'll NEVER read it again either! (That's time I'll never get back) :D

No clue. It is urban fantasy. Amanda Hocking is one of the first indie authors I read and I've read most of her books.

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Finished Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2) by Cassandra Clare last night and was quite disappointed with the ending. I should have expected that type of ending with Cassandra Clare, but I was hoping she had seen the error in her ways...LoL. Though I'm sure many will probably love it. Bah, when will I learn and stop torturing myself?

message 2193: by Dani (new)

Dani (dani_duda25) I am reading Envy (Luxe, #3) by Anna Godbersen

message 2194: by [deleted user] (new)

Kourtni - I might just wait until she is done writing the whole series before I start reading it.
