I do read House of Night though ... mostly because I enjoy writing angry reviews for them. O__o But really. The main character is the most whiney, selfish, hypocritical person ever––I can't stand her! Plus the writing is god-awful, the plot wanders all over the place, and the authors use pop culture references like you wouldn't believe. Like, they reference "Glee" all the time, which I find really strange...
Of course, the main character in Mortal Instruments is also really annoying. However, I adore the other characters so much that I don't really care. :P

Lol. I wholeheartedly agree. Zoey comes across as a petulant ten year old. The ridiculous thing is Kristin Cast doesn't do anything but go back through and make sure it reads like a teenager would act/talk. That's her sole job.
Wow, really? That's terrible. And she utterly fails at her job, if that's the case. There's so much pop culture and "text speech" in it; it's cringe-worthy how forced it is. Like, "LOOK AT ME! I'M TALKING LIKE THE COOL KIDS, RIGHT?"
... Ugh.
... Ugh.

I finally finished
. It was just OK for me. I liked the premise but it was WAY too predictable, to the point where I was screaming at my Kindle, and I'm not one to think ahead with books. I like to enjoy them in the moment but this book was just too obvious.
Now I'm starting
. Yay!

Good idea! ;) Usually if a book is predictable it doesn't bother me but all these things were slapping the MC in the face and she was oblivious. It was very frustrating. I almost quit reading it.

Double yay!!
If you liked it, Kourtni, then I'll add it to my list. :)

I loved that book. I couldn't put it down!

Cheryl- It's really good I just finished it last night! :D

Oh my god, that drives me CRAZY. She claims to be too pure to swear, yet she goes and sleeps with like five guys at once. Argh. *grinds teeth together* And even if she wasn't a total slut ... Bullpoopie? Really?!

As the series continues it gets more mature - excellent series!

As always, Clary and Jace are keeping us all on our toes not to mention Simon seems to be struggling to find his place as a Daylighter.
I am 275 pages in and not at all disappointed in this latest installment.
Up next might be Peony In Love by Lisa See or Major Pettigrew's Last Stand By Helen Simonson or Linger by Maggie Stiefvater or Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare or the final novel in the Immortal's Series, Everlasting by Alyson Noel (that one I have to get at the bookstore, the others I already have in my possession!)
Ah, looks like my summer reading is shaping up nicely!
I just can't make up my mind!

You must be talking about Awakened or another House of Night book, bullpoopie is the dumbest thing, everytime she says it I loose more and more respect for her. Also in the early books when she made a big stink about her 'brown pop' it annoyed me.
Brigid - I saw where you replied to this, yeah it makes her look like a little kid, couldn't she at least say bullcrap? or B.S.? and yeah all her grinding on one guy, making out with another, having sex with another, while flirting with someone else is she naive, dumb or a big ho?

Lisa Anne - I love that your profile picture is of The Accolade! It's my favourite Blair Leighton painting :)
Also, yay for all the Alanna love. Such a great series!

I don't remember which one that she said that. It was probably multiple books that she said bullpoopie. I don't like it because it sounds stupid. But like you said, it's also annoying that she tries to be proper and well-behaved on that, which is really a small thing compared to some of her other behavior.
I'm currently reading The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner's Dilemma and Gulliver's Travels. Thankfully, both of those are better than the House of Night books.

Lisa Anne - CoFA'S really great! I can't wait for City of lost souls!! :P My vacation's almost over so Happy reading to you!

I've almost finished it..... she really should have stopped after the second book or even the first one.

Loved the book. The ending was odd though. Not odd enough for me to not still love it though :)

Yes. I DID like Catching Fire, but it wasn't worth it to make a third.

I have, Emi. It was really slow for about the first 50% of the book, then it picks up. Her take on faeries is really interesting and I love Tamani.

Yes, I liked Wings.
I didn't like the sequel very much, unfortunately. I don't think I'll be reading the third one.
