An author exchange is when two authors agree to buy each other's latest publication, review it and post the review to help the other author boost sales.

I'm curious as to what you think of that one. I pretty sure I have it on my TBR list.

I'll keep you updated Shannen. I'm only about 75 pages into it so far.

message 1061: by Seth (new)

Seth (ninjaaaaaofwritingbooks) | 240 comments I did NOT fly through MockingJay. It took me like six months a read because I only read 25 pages per day cuz I wanted to let my happiness last. Yeah. Hated that book.

Shannen, what's your email?

Heidi. I kinda like Hate List. I think I cried when I read it. But it was just . . . depressing, you know?

Leaving Paradise kind of drove me crazy. There was a horrible grammar error in the dedication ... lol. I enjoyed the book somewhat although I wasn't sure I could believe the premise.

Either I am totally behind, or this group has become WAY more active. Maybe a combination of the two. lol. :P

Anyway, ummm. Well, the other day I finished The Tiger's Wife which was an alright book.

Now I should probably read the 6th Harry Potter book since I've put it off for about a month now. Ooops.

Leaving Paradise was not AT ALL realistic. I work in the criminal justice field and it is noted several times in my review how this stuff just does not happen!

Ooh, I should read your review of it.
I know next to nothing about law, and even I could tell it wasn't accurate ... A lot of it just seemed like, "Wait, that's allowed to happen? He's allowed to just ... live next door to her and all?" O_o

That's the series i just finished - well not totally finished since the last 2 books were not yet released- before I read Divergent! It's a good series. I kept thinking of so many "what ifs?" when i'm reading it. (What if it happens here in our place?) haha thoughts like that. You'll enjoy it!

message 1070: by Lyza (new)

Lyza James | 5 comments I just finished Breathe by Abbi Glines ( loved it! Great beach read) and I am going to start on the book of the month. But I've been wondering about Gone (Gone, #1) by Michael Grant I haven't picked it up yet but after reading your comments I think I may add that to my list.

Its the same with Cat Among the Pigeons. Poirot is at the very end.

message 1075: by Suzy (new)

Suzy Turner (suzyturner) | 3 comments I'm reading a book written by a new friend of mine (and fellow indie author). I was a bit worried that I wasn't going to like it but I'm a few chapters in and I'm relieved to say that it really is a lovely story! Although I have spotted a couple of spelling errors (I can't help it... I seem to find them in almost everything I read... I guess it's the editor in me rearing its head again!), I would recommend it. It's Sometimes It Happens by Pauline Barclay.

message 1076: by Seth (new)

Seth (ninjaaaaaofwritingbooks) | 240 comments Just finished Gone (Gone, #1) by Michael Grant !! I really liked it. A lot better than the second one! But at the same time, I can see why some people hate it so much. It's much too long, all over the place, and confusing and the whole time all you can think is "Uh . . . why?" but at the same time it was a fun and enjoyable read!

But now I'm reading Everfound (Skinjacker, #3) by Neal Shusterman , and I'm confident that this will be AMAZING. I have complete faith in Neal Shusterman!

I am starting My Most Excellent Year A Novel of Love, Mary Poppins, and Fenway Park by Steve Kluger tonight.

Finished Hate List by Jennifer Brown which was very good.

message 1079: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 110 comments Just finished up Young Samurai The Way of the Dragon (Young Samurai, #3) by Chris Bradford . This series gets better with each book. The last quarter of the book was pretty intense! I almost want to jump right into the next book, but need to take a little break.

I SHOULD work on finishing up The Throne of Fire (Kane Chronicles, #2) by Rick Riordan , but I'm not sure if I'm in the mood for it right now. (Though I always love his books)

Not sure what's next right now.

From what I have gathered from watching people's reactions to this book - you either love it, or you don't.

message 1082: by [deleted user] (new)

Just started Branded by Keary Taylor . I've had it on my Kindle for a while now but kept putting it on the back burner.

Tori - I think Lloyd is right. Not a lot of people on the fence about it. I loved Shiver though.

Mods - It's June 1st and our monthly book read needs to be changed out. :)

message 1083: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 110 comments Okay, all the glowing reviews and recent talk are making me want to start Feed (Newsflesh, #1) by Mira Grant . I grabbed it while it was on sale for $2.99 and now went and bought Deadline (Newsflesh, #2) by Mira Grant and Apocalypse Scenario #683 The Box by Mira Grant figuring I'll want to read those too. (The curse/blessing of the Kindle one-click instant gratification purchasing.)

Shiver has little to no action. It is more of a romance so if you are not into those it might not be your thing.

Yeah, not a lot happens in Shiver (except toward the end) but I agree with Seth––I adore Maggie Stiefvater's writing. (Also, she's a really cool person. I kind of stalk her...) And I love her characters as well. :)

message 1091: by [deleted user] (new)

Heidi - Not trying to nag. Just excited to read the new book!

I love Maggie Stiefvater too. Is she writing anything new?

message 1092: by Tori (new)

Tori (rockerchick1234) | 60 comments i like the characters. and the more i read it the more i like it i just wish something would happen because as of right now the plots a little flat. i guess im just used to books with more action.

Yes! She has a book called The Scorpio Races coming out ... I'm not quite sure what it's about but IT'S MAGGIE STIEFVATER. So I'm sure it'll be awesome. :)
