I almost forgot I read a cute book over Christmas, Top Ten Clues You're Clueless
It was a light-hearted fun book that I think would be geared toward younger teens. Mostly a fun adventure; also deals with a MC who doesn't want a medical condition to define her.

BRIGID: I know what you mean. I wasn't a fan of the characters as well. But I think the book's intention was just to scare you right out cause there really wasn't any character developments.

Yes, I think you're right. :) (view spoiler)

I skipped that one because Brigid was not in love with it and we are pretty similar in taste. Keep me updated please :)

I am about 1/2 way through the audio of Stand-Off
and am enjoying it very much :) It is different than the first book somewhat but a very solid read so far.

I'll let you know. For now it just seems rather vague and there are so many unanswered questions and I'm getting antsy lol.

Heidi, I DNF'd Uprooted at the 20% mark. It just wasn't working for me. The romantic relationship bordered on abusive and I'm not down for that. On the other hand, the prose was getting overly wordy and dragging and I was bored. The Wood seemed like a really interesting "villain", but she definitely could've edited the story down a bit.
I agree, Ashley. The relationship in Uprooted bothered me so much. I liked the Wood as the villain, but the plot was pretty slow and I was not a fan of the characters/romance.
Heidi, I'm glad you're enjoying Stand-Off! :)

I think I'll skip Uprooted as well. Booo...i was actually looking forward to it. But with all the bad reviews, no thanks.
Just finished I Have a Bad Feeling about This
, which was really funny in a crazy way. Kind of like Ghostbusters for teens , with a little Big Bang Theory thrown in. And a little like
, only funny. Well, except it did get a little darker than you would have thought, with the tone of the rest of the book.

Finished:
Mixed feelings over all. There were some really cool aspects of it (including the crazy format!) but I wasn't as invested in it as I had hoped to be.

@Brigid: I thought Illuminae was amazing :D I loved both the format and the story!I'm currently rereading the Delirium series by Lauren Oliver. Already halfway through Requiem.

I liked book one a lot more than I expected but quit there because I head a lot of complaints about the follow up books. I was fine making up my own ending in my head :)

I've just started the audio of
, really enjoying it. I think Brigid would definitely like it, since you liked CNV and Wolf by Wolf.
I finished
and it was a good finale to the series! I started reading this series years ago, so I got a bit nostalgic at the end, especially when Puck and Ash were fighting together again!Right now I'm listening to
on audio and its good so far. Still reading
, which is very good, and going to be starting
soon.Also reading
in ebook.

Been a while, probably will be another while before I come back. Haven't read too much since I was last on.Finished
, which I wanted to love but ended up feeling very meh about. Also finished
, which I wanted to love and really did end up loving. Great stuff. Familiar enough to recommend to certain readers, but new enough to feel fresh.Up next, I'll probably end up reading
TOMMY: The first time I read Blue is for Mignight I enjoyed it. That was when I was in high school. I read it again last year wasn't blown by it.

I tried it when it was one of our hidden gem reads but didn't finish it.

I really liked the first few books in the series but the last few have left a bad taste in my mouth. I am going to try the newest book and decide if I want to continue. I might try it on audio if you like the narration.

She starts some dreaded love triangle and a few of the mysteries themselves are not my favorites. Still love her as a an author though so I have faith she will turn things around. She is writing like 4 or 5t series at a time because she also writes a series under the name Josie Bell so I think she needs to focus on one or two for now instead.

I finished
3.5 starsI didn't get into this one as much as Maguire's other books, which was a shame, because I'm a big fan of his writing! It felt a bit disjointed. I really enjoyed the Wonderland parts, and the concept was great, I just felt taken out of the story at about every chapter break.
I'm still trying to finish...
It's not that its bad, its just so much more easier to listen to audiobooks than read while on the road

I'm currently reading
. I don't really like it so far - but I've just started. Hopefully it gets better!
Loved Prisoner of Night & Fog and excited to snag book 2 on audio once I finish One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Still enjoying every second of The Lies of Locke Lamora and pushing my way through a reread of Lolita.
Finished:
Kinda mixed feelings about it ... I liked it in the beginning but the second half was a bit slow for me. I guess I can post all my thoughts in the thread about it! :D
And now I'm finally starting:

I'm finally getting to read again. Woohoo! I'm about 1/3 of the way theough Ready Player One. I'm enjoying it and love the premise, but I'm finding it a little bogged down in detail at times. Did anyone else feel that way?

Yay! Yes. RP One was very detail orientated and at times I spaced out during the narration. I think it helped listening to the audiobook for some of the technical parts.

I wonder, too, if some of my annoyance is knowing a lot of this stuff already from my childhood (I used to play text adventure games on a tandy, for instance) and maybe if I didnt know this stuff, it wouldn't be so boring to me.
Just finished
and really liked it--a nice, easy read with lots of action. I'll be starting the sequel soon.

Yeah, I remember there being a lot of info-dumps in that book. I definitely skimmed here and there. :P But I liked it over all, and I'm glad you're also enjoying it!
