Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 440 comments I finished The Power of Six (Lorien Legacies, #2) by Pittacus Lore last night. Took longer for me to get into than the first book, but it ended up being quite intense.

Up next, Rot and Ruin (Benny Imura, #1) by Jonathan Maberry

message 9070: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
Finished:

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

Did not like it much, unfortunately.

And now I am re-reading:

The Diviners (The Diviners, #1) by Libba Bray

I'm supposed to get the sequel in the mail tomorrow. *screams* And since it's been three whole years since the first book came out, I kinda forgot everything that happened in it ... but it's all coming back to me now. :D

I am so glad to be reminded of it! Yay! I am also glad to have reminders of more Libba Bray books-I loved her other ones! Right now I am reading Looking for Alaska by John Green . I am loving it, but (view spoiler)

Oh, the chain will go on haha. Gonna push this series on a nice amount of people. Including a couple friends who aren't usually in the YA camp, but that I can sway with a few top notch reads :)

Yay!! Love it. Also, if anyone you know likes audiobooks - the series is excellent on audio. I know there are pictures in the books but I just went to the library and looked at them after I listened to the series :)

You should definitely read it, Heidi, SO GOOD.

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I'm almost done with The Diviners. It's a really good story line, very creepy. (I'm not sure who's scarier, Naughty John or Billy Dent.)

I just don't connect that well with any of the main characters, though. Evie is very annoying to me and I'm glad someone finally told her that she's too self-absorbed. I'm hoping that she gets better soon. It could also be the jumping around from one character to the other that is making me feel a bit disconnected.

Oh my gosh this month has flown by and I have not gotten to the monthly read Nevermore Nevermore (Nevermore, #1) by Kelly Creagh . Gah! I need to work on getting this today. Also, just FYI next months book choice is Everlost Everlost (Skinjacker, #1) by Neal Shusterman . Please feel feel to join in for either read :)

Aww I love the characters! But yeah there is a lot of hopping between pov's. Evie can be really annoying but I still like her––and I like that she actually has real flaws. :D

I really liked Evie as well, more so because of her flaws. She cracks me up. Most of the characters do :) And I've become a huge fan of books with lots of POVs, if it's well done, like in The Diviners. Makes the world so much richer and more interesting.

Not sure how far you are in the book, but he's an important character! He's probably my favorite. :) Hmm I don't know why she chose the 20's but I really like it! I find the 20's very fascinating and I think she did a really good job researching it and integrating history into the story. It also gives the book a unique flair; I haven't read many YA books about the time period, especially fantasy books.

I'm at (view spoiler) I like that it's in the 20's, too. Not too many YA books are set in that time period, as you said. Maybe since I'm more like Mabel than Evie, that's why I don't connect so much with Evie. I do think that Evie's and Sam's relationship is a lot of fun.

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I loved Evie too, also because of her flaws. And I agree David, she just cracked me up too! The multiple POV was hard at first, but the further I got into the read, the more it all started to come together and make sense. It reminds me of those holiday movies: Love Actually, Valentine's Day, New Year's...etc. I love how those are done, where you have all these characters, and they are all connected in some way or another, but you have all these little stories going on that converge at some point. So fun!
