I'm really surprised about this book. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. I didn't really like the first one, but this one was a lot better. Freaked me out! O_O

Same here! TFiOS is my favorite, then Will Grayson. Looking for Alaska and Paper Towns were just okay for me. I think those are the only books of his I've read.

Heidi, thank you again so much! I gave my mom a list and she went shopping! :) She was very happy! I ordered her the brand new Rhys Bowen for a surprise. She cares for my dad (they are both88) and her time reading at night is so special to her! This was great!

I agree that the ending was a letdown. I didn't know what to think of Margot. You guys have all made some really good points about her. I thought she needed to get away from her parents, who weren't nice to her, and to be more herself, but it also thought she has serious problems. Like you all have said, I loved Q and his friends, and I guess I'm such a huge John Green fan, I still liked it. But not the ending. I like Will Grayson a lot, and TFIOS, and I LOVED An Abundance of Katherines!!! To me, it's like all the good stuff in Paper Towns without the disappointing stuff. I need to read Looking for Alaska. Loved everyone's comments.
I am reading Ecology of a Cracker Childhood One of my friends who teaches high school science said he and an English teacher are collaborating to teach this book this year. It's really good so far.

I tried and failed to finish . It just didn't hold my interest because I found it too predictable and similar to other YA reads, especially The Selection. I'm sure others will like it more than I did though!

Glad I wasn't the only one! I had really high hopes for it and it was such a letdown for me. I agree, I thought it was really predictable and had way too many clichés.

I hate when I don't like a book, especially one that a lot of other people are passionate about. I was a little afraid to mention it (similar to when I mentioned not being a fan of The 5th Wave, which I took a bit of heat for), but I've got to be honest!

And I wasn't a big fan of the 5th Wave either ;) I couldn't really put my finger on why...I didn't hate it or anything, it was just kind of boring to me, TBH. I do have the sequel, but still not sure if I'll actually ever read it. I want to but...yet I don't :P

I know what you mean. It sucks when I have high expectations for a book and it just doesn't live up to the hype for me. It's also difficult to share a negative opinion of a book when so many people like it––I've gotten some nasty comments on some of my reviews. :P That's part of why I love this group––everyone is so open to each other's opinions. :)

And I agree with you guys about The 5th Wave. I was soooo excited for it because I'm such a huge fan of the Monstrumologist books and I thought The 5th Wave would be just as innovative, and then ... it wasn't. *sigh* I feel like the marketing/packaging was also kind of misleading because I thought it would be about a badass female character (since she was the only one on the cover and mentioned in the plot description) and then she was barely even in it????? (view spoiler)[and of course her plotline was a ~forbidden~ paranormal romance ... ugggh (hide spoiler)]

I have lucked out so far and have not had any negative/angry reactions on any of my reviews but I have had several people in other groups get upset when I dissed a book they loved and I did not. I try to be diplomatic about it but sometimes when things are written it is easier to take them the wrong way. Either way I am normally in the minority about popular books and am used to it but that is why I get so excited when others love lesser known books I love too like Monstrumologist and Chaos Walking. That is also why I have loved having the monthly hidden gems theme books this past year because it is always nice to read lesser known books that people are passionate about too.

I think its stupid for people to get mad over this issue. Everyone has their own opinions and should be respected. I admit I get shocked when people say they don't like a book/series I love, but I don't get all pissed about it.

What I like about books is that they're nice, weighty and durable and can be used to hit someone who interrupts you when you're trying to enjoy it. It's just not the same with a DVD or video game. It's about the same with my guitar, though.

I think it's an older book, but it has fantastic ratings/reviews. Has a more middle-grade feel so far, but a really original concept has got my interest!

I found it kinda disappointing, TBH. I'd heard such great things about it, but ... ehh, it just wasn't my thing I guess. But it had some cool ideas in it, at least.

And I FINALLY got from the library:



It had 800+ holds on it and I had to wait like two months but it finally got here. :D I'm trying not to go into it with any expectations since I know it's not going to be like To Kill a Mockingbird, but I think it will be interesting to read it knowing that's it's kind of a first draft/different version of TKAM.

Good to know about Uprooted. I might skip it for now because the audiobook narrator is reportedly not great either and that is how I would usually "read it".

Brigid I was thinking of getting Go Set a Watchman in audio because Reese Witherspoon narrates it and I heard she does a good job. Speaking of Reese - did anyone else see her cute post for her daughter's 16th Birthday? I thought the picture was of Reese! They are identical.
