mstan thanks for your update. I think I will give it a try because I loved me some Ruby! p.s. I skipped Iron King because too many people said it was boring.

Ugh, I didn't like either of them either. I felt the same way until the end ... and then I hated Elder more. But, I WILL SPOIL NOTHING. *covers mouth*

And I'm currently reading:

Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie

message 858: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments I have finished my finals, for better or worse, as of yesterday! Let the fun reading commence!

I am reading Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë and Dead Reckoning (Sookie Stackhouse, #11) by Charlaine Harris .

message 859: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments It's too quiet here!!Where is everybody?

I am whole heartedly reading Wuthering Heights now. It has evoked some serious emotions that I didn't know I could feel. What a book! It just might make my WoW shelf.

I'm here! I am listening to Bloody Jack book 7 on audio and finally almost done reading Son of the Shadows (Sevenwaters, #2) by Juliet Marillier .

message 862: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments What did you think of Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters, #1) by Juliet Marillier Heidi? I plan to read it soon.

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
I really liked it Kourtni but it took a little while to get into it. Brittany and Peep just finished it and I think both liked it a lot too. I recommend it - especially if you like fairy tales and/or fantasy books.

message 864: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Awesome! I'm sure I will like it then. I have been a little detached from the goodreads world lately and I feel like I don't have a lot of books to really look forward to like I usually do.

I just noted in our other group that you and Brittany were AWOL for awhile there (she was in Italy). Glad you are back!

Bluemoon it is way more adult than Alanna and besides the fact that they are both fantasy books with female leads they are totally different.

message 868: by Brandi (new)

Brandi I'm reading Spud The Madness Continues by John van de Ruit and The Boyfriend List 15 Guys, 11 Shrink Appointments, 4 Ceramic Frogs and Me, Ruby Oliver (Ruby Oliver, #1) by E. Lockhart .

message 869: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
I hope you like Ruby Brandi :)

message 870: by Brandi (new)

Brandi I really liked it Heidi! I finished it today and then read the 2nd one too. I'm starting The Treasure Map of Boys Noel, Jackson, Finn, Hutch, Gideon—and me, Ruby Oliver (Ruby Oliver, #3) by E. Lockhart next.

Thanks! Yes, I had to bunker down for finals. But I am back for a solid 3 months!

Wow, sounds like I need to read the Ruby books!

Just started

The Reapers Are the Angels by Alden Bell

So far ... Quite terrifying. But awesome.

message 875: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments That is a super creepy cover Brigid! And the book is terrifying? I can honestly say I've never read a book that scared me. I might have to give it a go.

message 876: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
Well, it's a zombie book. And zombies really creep me out. Typically I don't like zombie/horror books at all, really, because they're just gross ... And this book is gross too. However, it's well-written which is more than can be said for most horror stories ... very interesting style.

I shouldn't try to describe books when I'm high on caffeine. The point is, YES. I recommend it. Thus far, anyway. I'm like 50-ish pages into it. :)

message 877: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments I've never tried a zombie book either! I won't like graphic descriptions of people being torn apart by zombies or anything(picturing a zombie movie), but I will give most things a try at least once.

message 878: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
Yeah, the descriptions of those things tend to be super nasty. *shudders* And since this book is well-written as I said, the descriptions are particularly ... vivid. However, I really like the main character, and it's a good story.

I guess the only zombie books I've really read, besides this one, were the first two Forest of Hands and Teeth books ... which weren't very well-written and the characters were annoying. Haha.

But yes, if you're going to try at least one zombie book The Reapers are the Angels is worth it. :)

Loving the series!

I did not like Forest of the Hands and Teeth and will not be reading any more of that little series, no sir!

I am excited to read Unwind (Unwind, #1) by Neal Shusterman

Shannen When You Reach Me is pretty middle grade. Sometimes i find it is harder for me as an adult to get into middle grade books, but then again I am not the target audience.

Nikki and Kourtni I love Jacky!

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments I would just like to reiterate that I am reeeally enjoying The Gathering (Darkness Rising, #1) by Kelley Armstrong !!! I just wish I didn't have to wait for the next book in the series after I finish it! I have a feeling it might be cliff hangery. While I'm wishing...I also wish I could leave work and finish it. It's sitting on my desk taunting me as I type. Must. Read. More.
