I really think I'm going to love Winter, maybe more than any of the others. But I also love Cress and Cinder! (Scarlet's okay)

Just started...
Dark Inside (Dark Inside, #1) by Jeyn Roberts

I've had this book on my bookshelf for quite some time now. So I decided to finally read it. Writing is not amazing, but its pretty interesting. I haven't read The 5th Wave, but this gives me the same vibe.

Up next, Charlie Bone and the Invisible Boy (The Children of the Red King, #3) by Jenny Nimmo

Heidi, is this book set in a futuristic version of Atlanta, as in Atlanta, Georgia? That is just a few miles from me. That is kind of cool! :)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Finished Rook by Sharon Cameron 4.5 stars

LOVED this story! A very unique concept. It felt like a story from a few hundred years ago, but it was actually thousands of years in the future. The world building was incredible, as well as the plot and all the twists. And I LOVED the characters. This is one for history buffs, dystopian lovers, fantasy junkies...the works!

I tried reading...
Snow Like Ashes (Snow Like Ashes, #1) by Sara Raasch

Has anyone read this book? Is it just me or its very similar to The Avatar: The Last air Bender...

Any thoughts? should I actually continue reading it? I'm having difficulties separating the two. But then I'm just three chapters into it.

I finished:

The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti

Kinda started skimming towards the end, but it was an okay book.

Also finished:

To All the Boys I've Loved Before (To All the Boys I've Loved Before, #1) by Jenny Han

I liked it! It was cute, although it followed a lot of teen-drama/rom-com type clichés ... but ehh, I liked it anyway. ;)

Today I started:

Uprooted by Naomi Novik

I've heard really good things about it so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I like it! :)

Just finished with...
Dark Inside (Dark Inside, #1) by Jeyn Roberts

It's a pretty good read. Creepy in an interesting way. I will continue to read the next book, but the third one hasn't come out yet so I'll just wait for that to come before hitting the second book

For some weird reason I thought people were talking about this book here, but I think I might be wrong. Maybe its just my subconscious telling me to read it. So picked up...
Croak (Croak, #1) by Gina Damico

Cool, I'm interested to hear what you think of it! I'm only about 50 pages in (and it's a pretty long book, haha) and so far I'm not sure how I feel about it. Honestly it's making me a little uncomfortable for various reasons; I'm a little nervous about where it's going because I have a bad feeling it's going to be one of those abusive-relationship-passed-off-as-romance scenarios, but I'm really hoping I'm wrong. :P

I was unable to finish it. I think I made it around 20% before I gave up. Others have really liked it, but it just wasn't for me. I couldn't connect with the characters, the world, or the writing. Hope it's a better read for you!

I liked Croak well enough as a standalone read, but didn't feel compelled to read the sequels. It was a really cool, fresh idea, some of the writing was quite funny...but the "twist" was really predictable. But overall I found it to be worth the read!

message 8937: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished Mosquitoland by David Arnold and I really enjoyed this one...except the ending kind of ALMOST had this amazing twist, but the author yanked it away at the last minute..it would have been MIND BLOWING...but it was still a good book, and I enjoyed it.

Now rereading Demon Evolution (The Evolution Trilogy, #2) by David Estes and almost done! Loving it!

Yeah the ending sucked. She has not perfected an ending yet IMO. Still loved the other 99% so much. I grew up in that time period so I think it made me nostalgic and added to my love.
