Dixie Minor | 276 comments You know what, you are right! She was very self -absorbed! I loved Q though. Did you read An Abundance of Katherines? It reminded me of this in a way, because it was quirky but a little lighter. I love his friendships and secondary characters! And humor!

Donna (BookDragonGirl) (bookdragongirl) Jenny, you're in for a treat! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! :-)

Abundance is the only book of his I have not read yet. My favorite by him is actually a split author book Will Grayson, Will Grayson Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green . Gah I loved that book. It is also one of my all time favorite audiobooks.

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I've read Looking For Alaska, loved it. There is a major twist halfway through the book, and the second half is "tougher" to read...but I've read much worse! I thought it was very good, especially since its his debut novel!

I finished Siege and Storm (The Grisha, #2) by Leigh Bardugo loved it. I forgot how much I hated Mal in it though :(

Finished The One (The Selection, #3) by Kiera Cass and it was an okay ending. I def have mixed feelings on this series.

Also finished a reread of Angel Evolution (The Evolution Trilogy, #1) by David Estes and I loved it even more the second time!

Right now reading Under Different Stars (Kricket, #1) by Amy A. Bartol Good so far!

Jenny, I really like it! It took just a little while to get used to the way it is told, but then it really takes off! Funny!!! But very much a gripping story as well. I am hoping to finish it today.

That is good to know about Looking for Alaska. I definitely want to read it now, as much as I am loving the other John Green books. Thanks, Jenny!

Yay! Success! I bought it after I read it too. So happy when others also like my favorites.

Dixie Minor | 276 comments I finished Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple and definitely recommend it! It's funny and zany and quirky but at the same time tells a really good story.

I just finished...
The Mark of Athena (The Heroes of Olympus, #3) by Rick Riordan

This is starting to be such a good series. I'm not really sure now if I like it better than the Percy Jackson series. I think its a class of its own.

I will probably buy some of Marchetta's books once my kids are older. Don't want my 10-year-old randomly picking them up. I really enjoyed Jellico Road, too, though I usually don't like books that make me want to cry.

I hope you do Becky! She is one of my all time favorites. She actually wrote a really cute middle grade book called The Gorgon in the Gully The Gorgon in the Gully by Melina Marchetta that one of my GR friends from Australia sent around for some of us to read when it was released years ago.

I'm actually really liking Scarlet more than Cinder! The Cinder character is also growing on me more than she did in her own book.

It is very interesting to me how many people either liked Cinder or Scarlet better. I think it comes down to the protagaist. It reminds me of the (Katsa) Graceling versus Fire debates. I was not a big fan of Scarlet myself because her personality is a little too abrupt for me but either way I LOVE the next book Cress the most (so far at least).

I think in many cases it was the case of which protag you liked more, but in my case I vote this order for protags 1.Cinder 2.Scarlett 3.Cress but for books, it's the opposite, 1.Cress 2. Scarlett 3.Cinder.

It makes no sense to me, but that's how it worked out haha.

Your orders are the exact same for me Tommy! I loved Cress the best as a book but Cinder is still my gal!

message 8889: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I still need to read The Lunar Chronicles since the last book is due out soon. I've read most of the first book but wasn't crazy about some of Cinder's decisions.

I'm kinda in a reading rut right now. Maybe when the kids go back to school.

Sorry I've been so absent the past week or so! I've been on vacation with my family so I haven't had much time to get online. ;) But as for reading progress, I am almost done with:

The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti

It's okay. I liked the beginning and then I got kinda bored/annoyed with it after a while. But I'm still going to power through the last 30 pages I have left. :P

Today I read most of:

To All the Boys I've Loved Before (To All the Boys I've Loved Before, #1) by Jenny Han

And I think it was just what I needed right now––something "fluffy" that I could read at the beach. :D A few minor things about it annoy me, but for the most part I think it's very cute and it has likable characters/dialogue.

I'm shocked that I wasn't alone on those orders, let alone that I got two people to agree in just a few posts haha. #GreatMinds

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 440 comments I gave up on The Zodiac Legacy Convergence (Zodiac, #1) by Stan Lee . I wanted to love it, I really did. A superhero novel series for kids that Stan Lee helped put together, sprinkled with really, really good comic style art throughout. almost 200 pages in though and I was just bored the whole time :/

I started Hold Me Closer, Necromancer (Necromancer #1) by Lish McBride and am now a bit over halfway done with it. I am loving it WAY more than anticipated. Pleasant surprise for a book I picked up based strictly on thinking the cover was cool and having an interest in necromancy from video games I've played haha.
