Thanks Dixie :) My cat was a male (Milo) and he was one of a kind (would knock things over and slam cupboards for attention and slept on a pillow in between my hubby and I each night). He was always in my business so it is weird without him. We picked out a kitten earlier this week that we loved but unfortunately there is some "new to us" deal where you put your name on a list and they go down the list day by day and if you pick the cat up on your day you get it. That process is too stressful for me. I would rather look at a group of kittens and pick one (or as you say pick us :) That particular kitten was adopted by the person above us on the list. We have a line on a group of kittens being fostered right now and were told we could pick one out so that seems like our best bet. How people can "claim" a kitten by just seeing a picture is strange to me. I want to meet them first and see their personality. Thanks again for your sympathy :)
HEIDI: Sorry to hear about your cat! I know what you mean about needing to see your soon-to-be-pet before taking them. It's the personality that you really fall in love with, rather than their appearance!
Just finished...
I'm not sure what to say. Everyone seems to love it, but I didn't really think its that great. I guess with all the hype I was expecting more. I'm glad that Cath started to get less whiny and annoying, but she still aggravated me from time to time. The ending was uneventful. It wasn't boring, but just no climactic event. I don't know, I guess it just wan't for me. I enjoyed the Carry On tidbit, but not enough that I would actually want to read Rowell's full version of it. For me, it sounds too much like Harry Potter (fanfic version).
I really did enjoy Levi tho. I think he was the saving grace in the book, him and Reagan. Anyways, I gave it a three star. I feel that if I make a review of the book it will be more of a rant than an actual review. I feel so blah tho, cause I really thought I would enjoy it and I'm so disappointed.

I know, I definitely think you need to see them in person and even interact with thm. There is something that happens-where you just know they are choosing you! And it is so much fun to bring them home and have those first few days when it feels like Christmas!
Thanks gals! We are all set to go look at some kittens today. Can't wait!
Bluemoon - I often say Rainbow R. has yet to "nail" an ending. I am never quite satisfied with any of her endings. I love E & P and thought Fangirl was a decent read but was not in love with it like E & P. Levi saved Fangirl for me. I loved him so it made me more into the book.

Aw I'm sorry about your cat, Heidi. :( That's exciting about the kittens, though! :D
Bluemoon - I didn't quite get the hype about Fangirl, either. It was cute and addicting and I liked it, but it went on for far too long IMO. And I had a lot of believability issues with it. (Like, as a very socially anxious college student who spends most time alone in my room writing ... hot guys don't just magically appear and fall in love with you, unfortunately. :P) I believe Simon Snow was supposed to be a very obvious parody of Harry Potter––but the problem is that the book actually references HP which raises the question of like, why does no one mention that Simon Snow is such a rip-off? lol. But yeah, I did like Levi and Reagan and most of the other characters.

Update! We picked out a kitten today. I have to wait 3 weeks for it to wean off his mother (he is only 5 weeks old). That poor mommy kitty was left on the side of the road pregnant with 6 kittens!
I hate seeing animals just being abandoned its pretty sad. Post pictures once you get her/him.
BRIGID: yes, I totally thought that Simon Snow was suppose to be the HP of the Fangirl setting. Which I accepted it until they mentioned HP.

Up next I'll really get started on

Okay, ramble over.
Right now reading

I am not sure about All the Bright Places Jenny. I can only handle around one depressing book per year! My work can be quite stressful so I normally veer towards lighter fare (hence all the cozy mysteries I read!)
I just borrowed Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone on audio. A lot of people, Heidi being one of them, have said that the audio is really good and I want to find out for myself. I'm just not sure when I'll get around to it.
I didn't even know the audiobook had different version. I had to quickly check my library. Yes, its the Jim Dale version. I had to wait a month for my copy!
I'm actually in a reading slump so I decided to just go ahead and listen to this one. I'm going to start it while going to work. Hopefully it will kick me out of my slump

It has its ups and downs for me, but I'm liking it. All the main characters are either real people from history or characters from old myths. Worth checking out book one, for sure.

I read those books as well, they are good but the end of the series ends on a read mind f... er.
So be prepared. But not too bad.

Heidi, yay! I am so happy for you! That will be sooo much fun, to have him when he is a little kitten. They are so adorable!

I still have't quite gotten over Allegiant's ending! :(

Nice! I love kittens .... not a huge fan of cats but to be fair I'm allergic to their adult dander. Never knew it until I moved into a house with cats in college and couldn't stop scratching.
Aww Jamie. If you ever want to consider a cat (since I know kids love pets) you should look into hypoallergenic breeds like Balinese or Siberian cats :)

Hahaha! I am not a fan of the Sphynx either! I would love to have a Siberian cat. They are beautiful and act like dogs. Very smart.
oooo...I love the skinless cats! I can pretend to be an evil villain and saying *mwuahhahahahaha..." all day while I stroke the cat!
oooo...and I'll name it the cutest name I can think of. Like Fluffy or sunshine. Something like that!

I'm listening to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and I'm enjoying it, but it's a hit and miss with me for the voices. I love Hagrid's voice. It sounds like actor in the movies, but I hate Mr. Durseley's voice. Its like a cross between Marvin the Martian and Mr. Bean. Every time he does the voice, it cracks me up!

I need to read Fairest Jenny. I could not get into Eragon. I have not read/heard of any of the recent books you all have posted! I feel behind the times :)
JENNY: oooo...same here! I just couldn't read Eragon. I tried several times to start it, but could never go past the first few chapters. I want to maybe try Eragon, maybe that would get me into it more, but it's really not on top of my tbr
TOMMY: i tried reading the first book on Nicholas Flammel series, but had such high expectation for it and I was a bit disappointed. I want to continue with it cause its such a fascinating story, but I don't know if its worth continuing. Thoughts? Is the second better than the first?

IMO the first Flamel book was the worst so far(I've read 4 of the 6). Book 2 is a bit better than book 1, book 3 a bit more than 2, and book 4 was tons better than the first 3.
So yeah, I think it's worth checking out, but the first 3 books did lag a bit.

Yeah...long winded books and me are like oil and water!
Yeah...long winded books and me are like oil and water!

The strongest part of the series, IMO, is the real life history mixed into the story. Book one felt like it was really trying to go "LOOK, LOOK AT THIS FACT!" M. Scott cooled it and let all his research fade into the background to support his story and it made it much more enjoyable.

YAY! I can start it next week sometime!

That's the thing I like best, too, Tommy!
