Sounds good Jenny and Becky! How about Game?

message 8202: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments OK. I put in my Inter-library loan for Game & Blood of my Blood. Since I heard that the second book ends on a cliffhanger.

I also put in for Poison Study, so hopefully my librarian isn't too annoyed with me.

message 8203: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Finished Storybound. Definitely Middle School at this point. I think the two books could have been combined into one since the first book didn't even have a subplot that got wrapped up in the first book. But then, I prefer books to be able to be stand alones with maybe an overarching story that ties the series together.

Becky I put in for ILL all the time! I don't think they get annoyed by them - I hope not at least :) I will be listening to Game on audio so it will take me a little longer. Just let me know when you get it and I will start a Buddy Read thread for it. Yay!

Mangolia looks cute. You liked it then?

Jenny you are reading machine! Jealous!

message 8207: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Thanks! I go through stages where I read like nobodies business, then I'll a week with only reading about 20 pages!

Finished The Prisoner of Cell 25 (Michael Vey, #1) by Richard Paul Evans and I really liked it! 4 stars and Love in the Time of Global Warming (Love in the Time of Global Warming, #1) by Francesca Lia Block and it was okay, 3 stars. I enjoyed the mythology aspect and the post apocalyptic setting, but the romance part was just weird.

Also rereading Eragon (The Inheritance Cycle, #1) by Christopher Paolini right now, and going to start Garden Spells (Waverley Family, #1) by Sarah Addison Allen today.

Yay! Love Sarah Addison Allen!!

message 8209: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie picking up the Hexed (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #2) by Kevin Hearne audiobook this weekend; hopefully by then I'll have finished or be close to finishing NOS4A2 by Joe Hill

started a reread of Wicked The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West (The Wicked Years #1) by Gregory Maguire last night, the humor in this book always surprises me.

still working on Cracked (Soul Eater, #1) by Eliza Crewe Bloodhound (Beka Cooper, #2) by Tamora Pierce

Yay! I highly recommend that series on audio (like I have mentioned 1,000 times already) Darcy!

HEIDI: yes, I did enjoy it. It was a cute story.

I'm re-reading...
The Body Finder (The Body Finder, #1) by Kimberly Derting

I still don't know if its a series I want to keep going on. I guess cause the book is more into the relationship of Violet rather than the actual mystery. Either way I won't make any judgement until the end.

I hope your librarian isn't annoyed with you, or mine probably hates me haha. I have 13 out now and 19 more on hold for when I go back in the next few days :)

message 8215: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Well, I've lived here for 9 years and it's only recently that I've felt more accepted by some of the librarians. But I think ILL's are pretty common since we have a lot of homeschoolers here and a smaller library.

message 8216: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I always have lots of books out. My libraries don't seem to care :)

Ashley Marie Heidi (Yup. Still here.) wrote: "How is Bloodhound Ashley??"

Very good! I love being back with these characters <3 The story's fantastic and the book itself must be a lot more dense than I first thought, because I'm not even halfway through yet but I'm really enjoying myself lol.

And I read Hounded as a paperback, so I'm excited to see what the audio of Hexed is like :)

@Becky I'm planning to read Poison Study in June. I'm really excited for it, it sounds amazing!

message 8218: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
So excited for you to listen to Hexed - I have only listened to the series on audio so couldn't imagine it any other way.

Good to know about Bloodhound. Thanks!

message 8219: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments If you had trouble with the number of characters with the first book, Heidi, you might encounter the same problem with Bloodhound. But then, I don't think that I read it straight through so that may have been my problem.

message 8220: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie Tortall is as much my happy place as Hogwarts is <3 I will happily read anything in either of those settings lol

I just finished Body Finder and I just totally don't know why I can't get into it!

Do the books get better after each one? has anyone finished the series?

message 8222: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Bluemoon I skipped Body Finder after some of my GR friends did not like it so you are not alone.

message 8223: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Well, I loved them and thought they got better with each one. It delves more into the mystery of her "ability" and there's all kinds of creepy murders and mysteries. I did really like Jay, too :) I thought the whole concept was creepy and interesting.

message 8224: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished Garden Spells (Waverley Family, #1) by Sarah Addison Allen and I really liked it! Its nice to find a new author you like, I'll be reading more of her books!

Next I'm reading Dearest (Woodcutter Sisters, #3) by Alethea Kontis

message 8225: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Yay Jenny! Welcome to the world of Sarah Addison Allen!

message 8226: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 440 comments Finished Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3) by J.K. Rowling (reread) today. Always good to go back to the book that made me love the series.

I'll probably read How to Train Your Dragon (How to Train Your Dragon, #1) by Cressida Cowell over the weekend.

message 8227: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
That is one of my favorite HP's Tommy!

message 8228: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 440 comments I finished How to Train Your Dragon (How to Train Your Dragon, #1) by Cressida Cowell this morning. A quick, fun, solid read.

I'll probably take the weekend off from reading to get some outlining done before getting to the library on Monday.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 440 comments Took an 8 mile hike to the library today(4 there, 4 back) and got me a nice batch of books, mostly books in series I need to finish.

I'll probably read The Necromancer (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #4) by Michael Scott starting tonight.

message 8237: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I started reading Raven's Gate and I do think Horowitz is a good writer. I just can't understand why so many people have to die. Pretty much, if you are an adult, you have a 90% chance of dying and if you're evil, you have a 100% chance of dying. I was reading this to see if it would be OK for my 9-yr-old, but it's a bit creepy and a lot violent, so probably not.

Wow! That is dedication! 8 mile hike! I think my husband and I walked that a few times to our adjoining town's library but it wiped me out too much for the rest of the day so we stopped!

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Finished Take Me On (Pushing the Limits, #4) by Katie McGarry and overall I liked it. I love Katie McGarry's books, but I think this one was me least favorite. Still a 4 star read though.

Next is The Originals by Cat Patrick

It was less bad than I expected. I actually decided I may do it more often. I have extremely high energy/endurance though. After getting home I had less than an hour to get ready for work, then when home from work my gf's brother wanted to play horse(the basketball game) so I did that for a while, then walked the dogs haha.

Dixie Minor | 276 comments I just finished The Rosie Project for my book club and really liked it! Next is a new Laura Lippman book, Hush, Hush. (Not the same as the YA Hush, Hush, which I liked.) I got to hear Laura Lippman talk about how she got her ideas for this book. I took my mom, who is a fan, to this event at the wonderful indie bookstore not too far from where I live. She was spellbinding! But mostl, I have been busy with a cat adoption -fun!!! :) :) My husband and I had adopted one at Christmas, and now we have another. They are so cute and sweet! But still young -and very energetic! I am glad to be able to read back on this post thread. Thank you guys for all your great ideas!

I liked Rosie Project too - very good on audiobook btw. I skipped Hush Hush due to some friends reviews but I hope you like it. My big fat cat died last month so we are looking at adopting another one right now. I hope my other cat likes him or her!
