Ashley wrote: "ooooh Clariel -- I just finished Sabriel last month and really liked it, I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!"I love that series!! :)
Bluemoon wrote: "BECKY: YES! Heidi is totally right! The Colin Firth P&P is my favorite movie adaptation. The Elizabeth in that one is the best!"Love the Colin Firth P and P! Love him, anyway! ;)
I haven't visited in a while; I was reading a suspense thriller, not YA, that was just ok. Then I read. First Frost, by Sarah Addison Allen and loved, loved loved it!!! She is one of my very favorite authors!!! I have hear her speak twice and got my book signed! Yay! I highly recommend her for all ages! <3 magic realism that is really magical to me! This one has several charCters, but the most completing story line, to me, was the one with the teenaged girl, Bay.
Yay Dixie! Love Sarah Addison Allen too! So jealous you got your book signed and met her! I always tell people her books make me happy. Same way Hart of Dixie makes me happy.
It is YA and Beyond! Feel free to list adult books you are reading too :)

Hope you like Fangirl. It was not as good as E&P for me but still a solid read! I need to get to the new VM books ASAP!

Haha tv twins again! I am totally watching Heart of Dixie for the same reason - not because I thought it was like a SAA book but it makes me smile. Haven't read her new book yet.
HEIDI: I haven't watched the movie yet, but from the trainer I've seen the protagonist seems younger than on the book. I'll watch the movie after I'm done the book.
Listening to...
I'm enjoying it. If you can see past the holes in the story its pretty good. Its pretty much a love story with a sci-fi setting.

was fantastic!! If you guys haven't read Garth Nix's Abhorsen series, they are SO GOOD! and different, too!I just finished
and
and i think it's the first time ever that a YA trilogy actually got BETTER AND BETTER as it went!!!
Ignite me was SO GOOD and i did a total 180degree turn on a few of the characters. SUCH AMAZING CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Anne Marie I tried Sabriel a few years ago and could not get into it so quit at around 75-100 pages. It seems like everyone likes that series though so I wonder if I should try it again on audiobook? Sometimes that helps me.
Anne Marie wrote: "

Now I just need to track down the rest -- is Nix continuing past 4 books with this series or is Clariel going to be the final book?
Heidi (Yup. Still here.) wrote: "Good to know Ashley. Maybe the audio is the way to go for me if I try it again."Yeah the first time I got it from the library I was always trying to read while the tv was on (it usually doesn't bother me) but I couldn't concentrate on the book AT ALL. Second time around, I said no tv and it went much better :)
Oh yes, I remember Sabriel...That was a tough one to finish. So sad that I didn't I heard so much good things about it too.
Finished...
I enjoyed it. Nothing too fancy. Like I said, if you're willing to look past the holes in inter-dimension travelling, then you might like it. The love story was weird for me. I'll write my review later.

The sci-fi part to it is what I liked best. The relationship was weird, but I kind of like the uniqueness to it!
I'm working on reading Tear Drop by Lauren Kate. I like the writing style, and I think she purposefully makes the main character frustrating. It gives the character a bit more depth to not be the typical, lovable protagonist. 'm loving the setting, and I'm curious to see how it ends. Has anyone else felt the same way?
Glad I was not the only one who did not love Sabriel Bluemoon. Seems like I am in the minority on that one.
J.D.I have not heard of Tear Drop- I am not sure if I could get into it if I was frustrated by the protag. I looked at the book and it appears one of my other GR gave it 2 stars due to problems she had with the protagonist so you are not alone!

I like the idea of tear drop, but dont like lauren kate`s writing style at all so wount be Reading it.
With me I think,if a book is meeeh why bother. there is so many good and great books out there why focus or spend time on meeh books.

I agree Oda. I give books about 100 pages before I give up (unless I have been told they improve). Life is too short!
I'm so loyal once I start a book! It's like this inability to walk out of a movie theater if the movie is bad. I'm not saying the book is bad or horrible, but I'll probably stick with it even though it's not my favorite. Any suggestions on what to read next to cleanse the palate?
Finished reading
and overall I liked it, but it was really weird, especially that ending! Now reading
and I'm going to try to finish
JENNY: The love story is unique, weird, but different.
Just finished reading...
I enjoyed reading it. It's a different take on the whole Zombie thing. Like Edward to vampires, R is the new take on zombies. I'm not comparing the two stories, they are totally different from each other, but the whole new take on the scary "monsters" we all know.

What genres or types of books do you like or do you want to read next?? That would help me pick. From your to read pile I would pick Cinder or Veronica Mars. I don't think you can go wrong either either of those choices.

Sometimes, I dabble in fantasy. Reading these genres keeps me on my toes for my own writing.
I just finished These Broken Stars, which I enjoyed. My favorite Sci Fis are Dune, Slaughterhouse Five, and Ender's Game. I've been searching for some solid YAs that fit in that genre with a more diverse set of protagonists, and I love stories with flawed characters.
I really liked These Broken Stars. Have you read Timebound
or Ready Player One
. They are both YA science fiction that I enjoyed.

and
, and I thought this series had a Dune feel to them, especially Golden Son. I'm also a sci-fi addict and have every Dune book written including all the newer ones. I've read the originals over and over and had to replace my copy of Dune because it completely fell apart. ;)I agree with Heidi's recommendations too!
Jenny wrote: "Ready Player One is a must read for everyone IMO!"It's amazing on audio! I have a huge crush on Wil Wheaton now!! ;)
I second
. That's a good calm story to get the ball rolling. Actually all of Heidi's suggestions are good.
If you want to try
. This one is good too ^_^ I just finished it and enjoyed it.

I quit books, but never walk out of cinemas. Probably because cinemas is so expensive here in norway, books arent that expensive(and mostly buy them cheap online anyway)
And about what to read next, I agree on what been said.

Heidi, thanks! I'm so glad you like SAA too! Her new book, First Frost, is fantastic! It is a sequel to Garden Spells. I agree; her books make me happy, too. And she is sooo sweet in person! I watched Hart of Dixie once, and I liked it! l should check it out sometime.

I haven't read this book, but I LOVED the movie! And the soundtrack!!
Yay Dixie! Hart of Dixie is the most underrated show I watch (besides the now deceased Parenthood *sob*). Besides it has your name in the title! I hope you do watch it :)
p.s. Glad SAA makes you happy too!

I haven't heard of Sabriel Bluemoon. It sounds like it is not as good as the others. :(
Oops! I can't believe I thought Bluemoon was part of the title of a book! Sorry, Bluemoon! People were posting about the Abhorsen series, and it had been sounding like there was a new one I hadn't read. :D

Yes, it does have my name in the title! :) I noticed that! I will give it a try! :)
I just picked up
on audiobook from the library because they didn't have a print copy but I don't know how much listening time am going to get so it may be slow going.
