I am starting on one of my April theme books Hex and the City by Shanna Swendson today and am listening to A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy #1) by Deborah Harkness on audio.

What was?

message 754: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments I agree about HON Bluemoon. I was annoyed from the start, but I didn't make it through the first 20 pages.

I am reading Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels, #4) by Ilona Andrews . LOVING it.

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Haha yes! That was hilarious!! This book has had me laughing out loud numerous times. I can't get enough of Kate and Curran.

Me either. I am glad Peep told me books 3 & 4 were the best because I was not so sure about the series after the first two books.

message 758: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Yes, they steadily got better. If it wasn't for you I may not have gone on after book one. What a mistake that would have been! So thanks! And I am really excited the next book is coming out so soon! Yay!!

I'm like … 1/3 through the fourth one, maybe?

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Just finished The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen . A very enjoyable read. All the characters were endearing and it was a really sweet story.

What to read next....

message 765: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Wasn't it just super sweet (but in the best way possible)?

message 766: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments It really was! I love that the author made it really easy to connect to all the characters. That is usually what makes or breaks a book for me. So I loved it. :)

I am reading …

City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare

AAAHHHH!!!
In fact, I should go finish it right now. It's killing me.

message 768: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments I want to read that! But I don't want to buy it :/

message 769: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
Heh, I pre-ordered it. I couldn't wait!
I have to say, it's not as good as the first three books. I think the best way to describe it is that it's like watching the second half of "Into the Woods". You're like, ooh everything ended perfectly and they all lived happily ever after!

Oh wait … Never mind. No they didn't. *sigh*

But don't get me wrong, I still love it. (It's Mortal Instruments, after all!) And I have a little less than 100 pages left, so we'll see how it goes. :P

Be warned that this series takes some getting used to. It took me the first two books to like it.

AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. WHAT KIND OF ENDING IS THAT. I actually threw the book across the room.

Nevertheless, I still loved it. >_<

Nor have I. Is it good? :)

I've returned to reading HP #4. Near the end ... very intense. *bites nails*

message 780: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) Yeah guys, its really cute! Its like for probably 3rd or 4th grade but it's really snarky and similar to a Lemony Snicket kind of thing. My friend told me to read it so I am!

Well, I finished reading HP #4 and IT WAS AWESOME.

And now, I am reading … *drumroll*

Beauty Queens by Libba Bray

AAAHHHH!!!!! I won an ARC via good ol' Goodreads! I totally forgot I'd entered and then received the mysterious package in the mail today. And TADAAAA BEAUTY QUEENS! I pretty much had a heart attack. I'm so excited. :D

Just got done with Please Ignore Vera Dietz by A.S. King which I thoroughly enjoyed and am now reading The Agony of Alice by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor . I am also listening to The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen and A Discovery of Witches A Novel by Deborah Harkness on audio. If Discovery of Witches was an actual book I may have thrown it across the room by now.

Yep, I will be reading HP #5 after I finish Beauty Queens and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. :)

I'm reading Take Me There by Susane Colasanti for the April challenge. So far, it's just OK. Hope it picks up.

I had a long drive this weekend (long to me anyway) and got The Host (The Host, #1) by Stephenie Meyer on CD from the library to listen to. I like the story but not so sure about the narrator.

DH and I are on a book buying moratorium to save money since we are going to Disneyland in September and December. I have been using the library and previously purchased books for about a month now. Do you have any idea how painful it is to not be able to read Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6) by Richelle Mead City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare The Gathering (Darkness Rising, #1) by Kelley Armstrong The Treasure Map of Boys Noel, Jackson, Finn, Hutch, Gideon—and me, Ruby Oliver (Ruby Oliver, #3) by E. Lockhart Real Live Boyfriends Yes. Boyfriends, Plural. If My Life Weren't Complicated, I Wouldn't Be Ruby Oliver (Ruby Oliver, #4) by E. Lockhart ????? It's killing me! I'm on the waiting list for Last Sacrifice and my library doesn't carry any of the other books. :(

OMG Shannen! You pick the WORST audiobooks! Please please ask me next time before you start one because I really want you to get a good one. I hated the narrator for The Host - she sounded way too old! I would be happy to mail you my copy of Bloody Jack on audio if you want it - just let me know! I know your book twin loved it.

message 790: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
I really can't believe your library doesn't offer Inter-library loan Shannen! That is crazy and just sad :(

message 791: by [deleted user] (new)

Heidi - Apparently my library only carries Stephenie Meyer audiobooks. They also had the Fever books but I have already read those at least twice. I can use Overdrive but I haven't figured it out yet and I was under a time crunch.

Bluemoon - I can't wait to read it! Really, truly, I am dying to read all the books I listed. I hate not being able to finish a series.

message 792: by [deleted user] (new)

Because we are not buying books in order to save money. I haven't bought a book in almost a month now. We'll see how long I last!

message 793: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments I wish I could limit myself. I am too weak. The Last Sacrifice was pretty good and I am reading CoFA and I really want to read The Gathering too!!

I am anxiously awaiting Magic Slays! If you haven't read the Kate Daniels series you should! Especially you book twin!!!

message 794: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Haha, Target it my weakness. There is no way I can walk past the book aisle and not take a trip down it.

Soooo I just finished City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare . I am so unsure about this book I don't know what to do. I almost wish she would have stopped after the third book. The amount of angst is almost unbearable. And don't even get me started on the cliffhanger ending! BUT, I fell in love with these characters in the first three books so of course I am going to enjoy reading more about them. I just don't know.

message 795: by [deleted user] (new)

ARGH! Don't tell me that, Kourtni! Makes me think I can wait to read it until the price comes down.

Kourtni I love Target Boutique! I have heard a lot of negative things about City of Fallen Angels from my fellow GR friends. Evidentally Jace turns into a emo baby or something like that. I don't read the series (but I am sure you know that :)

message 797: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Haha, yes Heidi, I am aware you don't read the series. ;) And Jace was most definitely the source of my aggravation.

Don't get me wrong Shannen, I liked the book. Just not as much as the first three. It was very interesting to learn all about Simon, but I missed Jace's snarkiness and Magnus and there was not as much action!

message 798: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) I am reading The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin

I agree ... I really liked it, but not quite as much as the first three. I like that she expanded on some things from the first three books, and how she brought the Clockwork Angel stuff into it a bit more. And of course, it was nice to see all the characters again.

Although the Jace/Clary drama was pretty dumb. It's like … Jeeeez, you got together and it already took you long enough so ENOUGH WITH THE ANGST. And yeah. The ending. So not fair. Although I totally knew she was going to end it that way. >_<

message 800: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Why would she want to make us angry at the end of the book Brigid!? When has she ever done that?*cough* City of Bones *cough* lol. I also liked the Clockwork Angel stuff being mentioned.
