We have a great horned owl in the woods behind our house that calls almost every night. :)
Ooo, sooo pretty!!! Thanks for that picture, Ashley! I agree with Heidi that owls have a certain mystique! :)
Re: buddy reads - I'd also love to have them! And I'd be happy to manage a Buddy Reads folder/topic if you want, Heidi and Bluemoon. I feel like I haven't been doing enough mod stuff lately. :P
Anyway, I was reading The Sun Also Rises but I can't seem to find it, so I've been reading:
My mom has it out of the library and I figured I'd read it before she has to return it. It's okay so far but has a pretty typical "celebrity memoir" feel to it (that is, the writing isn't very good and it jumps all over the place).

I have not heard of this series. Has the second book improved??

I am still listening to Say What You Will
and find I suddenly do NOT like the direction this book is taking. Not at all. Boo!

BRIGID: A lot of people are saying that this book is really good on audiobook cause its narrated by Amy Poehler herself.
In order for me to finish my TBR faster I decided to listen to some on audio if they are available in my library.
Currently reading...
Liking it so far, I just don't understand why this series is twice as long as the Percy Series.
Listening to...
I read Legend so long ago that its taking me awhile to get into the store. I'm only on the first part of the audio tho. So hopefully my memory will kick in soon.

I am guessing it is like the Tina Fey and Mindy L. books, which were also both narrated by the authors (Amy's is too) and due to this they were more enjoyable than in print because the authors knew how they wanted the story/info to be portrayed. Surprising the best author book/audiobook I have read is the first one by Rob Lowe. I loved it.

Really?? I did not love Bitterblue. I wanted to. I really did. There was way too much talk and politics going on and not enough action!

argh! That's what making me not want to read bitterblue -_- I heard its not as good as Graceling or Fire

I could see that Jenny. It just expected something similar to the first two books and she took it a different direction I guess. Bluemoon I am not sure if you would like it. You can be pickier than me and you thought Icefall was too slow so it is a similar thing here. p.s. I am really liking Icefall now that I am at the tail end of it.
-_- maybe i can listen to it on audio. I know that I LOVED graceling on audio! For me its still one of the best audio I've listened to
Very excited! Just started Wild Rover No More: Being the Last Recorded Account of the Life & Times of Jacky Faber
on audio. Can't wait to see how one of my favorite audiobook series ends!

This one definitely had its flaws, but I enjoyed it for entertainment value. I didn't have high expectations, so that always helps I suppose!

Very true. I hated what's his name... not Morpheus, the other kid who was all gaga over Alyssa. He just seemed like a douchebag.
I skipped Splintered because I was warned I would not like it. Sounds like it was the right idea.

I was very annoyed with Jeb...talk about mixed signals! I forgave him in the end, though, after I heard his side of it. Still not the most perfect guy...I honestly didn't like Morpheus, didn't trust him at all!
But I loved all the twists on the story. Made for a fun read!
I just read
. I enjoyed it but after reading some folks reviews, I see that's it's definitely not for everyone.I started reading
due to Heidi being a fan. I'm having trouble with the dialect 'cause I typically prefer not to have to deal with bad grammar and lots of slang, but I'm getting used to it. It really does add to the character.

I couldn't stand Jeb, and I didn't trust Morpheus either but I still liked him better of the two lol. Definitely an original spin on an old classic! I need to investigate the sequels.
Becky are you listening to Bloody Jack or reading it? It is much easier to get into the dialect with the audiobook IMO. Yes, I should have warned you, Jacky is a poor orphan who becomes a sailor so she does have a potty mouth sometimes. I own the audiobook if you would like to borrow it let me know!
BECKY: You won't be disappointed with that series, especially if you're listening to it on audio! It's one of the best audiobook I listen to besides Graceling! Heidi was also the one who recommended that series to me ^_^
LOVED

I'm half way to...
I'm getting confused. How do their children know if they're from the Greek or Roman side? I'm still enjoying myself reading it, but the whole Greek and Roman thing is a bit weird. I hope Riordan explains this.

I have so many books I need to read. oh mann. I keep losing and finding the book I'm supposed to be reading for the book club I'm in.

to my audiobooks instead of print. Hahaha!!!! *off to find the audio*
wasn't too bad, I enjoyed the read. The action, adventure, and the world was interesting, and I did like the main love interest.Next is
!!
I typically don't do audio books. I typically find my mind wandering off unless I'm listening while driving. And since I'm usually only in the car for about 10 minutes at a time, that's not conducive to listening to audio books.
Hang in there Kaylani!
Yay Karen! You will not be disappointed. Graceling on audio is excellent. It is a full cast so that takes some getting used to if you are used to singular narrators but once you do I think you will love it. (I hope so at least :)

Becky I can only listen to audiobooks in certain situations. I listen in the car, while I am getting ready in the morning, and while I am cleaning or doing yard work. I can NOT listen while on the computer at all or while grocery shopping because those require more focus and my mind can't keep track of both at the same time! Luckily for me I work 36 miles away so I get a ton of listening time each week. I also listen on a sleep timer before I fall asleep (I have to make sure to bookmark before I get too sleepy though :)

I'm good if I'm doing chores too or walking. I try while I'm grocery shopping but have to stop and rewind quite a few times. ;) It takes me forever to get through a book. I did find that if I play Temple Run while listening, then I can listen to a good chunk at a time! :)
I'm still chipping away at the
audio and I've got
on hold for when that's finished. Plus I may be eyeballing the trilogy set from BWB or ThriftBooks >.>
Ok. I hope to dedicate this week's readings to this group! I am starting Winger
on audiobook since it is this months group read and I hope to finally start Reading Lolita in Tehran
so it can find it's rightful home back with Jenny from it's Around the World trip!

Struggling through Ann Aguirre's
and Kelley Armstrong
. The writing is good in both, maybe horror is not my genre after all. Starting
next week too, and hoping it's a fun light read.
KAREN: Thanks for the insight with the Red Rising ^_^ and I second Heidi's recommendation on Graceling on audio

Thanks so much, Anna, for the comments about Golden Son. I really liked Red Rising but am in the mood for something different these days. Will take a break from this series.
