Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Long while since I've updated!

Finished In The Afterlight (The Darkest Minds, #3) by Alexandra Bracken and I really enjoyed the conclusion to the trilogy!

Read the first two parts to Behind the Stars by Leigh Talbert Moore good so far!

Fractured (Guards of the Shadowlands, #2) by Sarah Fine and After the End (After the End #1) by Amy Plum were just okay for me, although I will finish the Sanctum trilogy.

Four A Divergent Story Collection (Divergent, #0.1 - 0.4) by Veronica Roth was pretty good, I loved seeing the backstory!

Now reading My True Love Gave to Me Twelve Holiday Stories by Stephanie Perkins which I am LOVING! Rainbow Rowell's story was so cute!

Ashley Marie Jenny, I'm dying to pick up at least the first book in the Darkest Minds trilogy. good to know the final book was a good way to end it!

Ashley Marie Horns by Joe Hill was fantastic, renting the movie tonight! so excited!

Amber House (Amber House, #1) by Kelly Moore was pretty good but I'm iffy about the sequel -- I see a lot of people have blacklisted it.

The Silkworm (Cormoran Strike, #2) by Robert Galbraith was amaaaaaazing. s2g Jo gets better with every book. This one just came out in June and I'm already dying for the next installment!

currently reading The Color Purple by Alice Walker

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I'm working on Rebel Belle (Rebel Belle, #1) by Rachel Hawkins and The Blood of Olympus (The Heroes of Olympus, #5) by Rick Riordan . Since they are both due back by mid-December, I guess I better ignore my Christmas shopping and get reading. I'm hoping to get more free time after the holidays and check out some of these other books folks are reading.

I have been totally slacking on my reading Becky. It is taking me 1-2 weeks to read a book when it used to take me 2-3 days. Oh well!

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I read This Night So Dark (Starbound, #1.5) by Amie Kaufman which I LOVED, wonderful short story!

Also finished Sapphire Blue (Precious Stone Trilogy, #2) by Kerstin Gier which was a really fun read!

Still reading My True Love Gave to Me Twelve Holiday Stories by Stephanie Perkins Stephanie Perkins story is my fave so far! Almost done, only 3 stories left. These are so cute for the holidays, I really recommend this read!

Started reading The Museum of Intangible Things by Wendy Wunder and Lips Touch Three Times by Laini Taylor

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished reading My True Love Gave to Me Twelve Holiday Stories by Stephanie Perkins and really loved it! 6 stories were 5 stars, 4 were 4 stars, and 4 were 3 stars. The ones by Kelly Link and David Levithan I just didn't connect with. But overall, this was a fun anthology!

Also finished Jackaby by William Ritter and I LOVED this story! Its described as a cross between Dr. Who and Sherlock Holmes, and I think that's a good description! It has a nice blend of kooky adventure with chilling mystery, and AMAZING characters! And lots of fun LOL moments too! Its one of my fave this year!

Next going to start Of Monsters and Madness (Of Monsters and Madness, #1) by Jessica Verday

I read Jackaby over the summer! I liked it but didn't love it. I think I expected it to be really scary like The Monstrumologist (since they have a pretty similar premise) so I kept comparing them. But I did like Jackaby (the character); he really reminded me of the BBC version of Sherlock. :D

I agree it was more eccentric and kooky than creepy, but I loved it anyway! Definitely entertained me!

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished The Museum of Intangible Things by Wendy Wunder and it was just okay for me. Wasn't thrilled with the ending.

Also finished Lips Touch Three Times by Laini Taylor and I loved this one!

Also finished Of Monsters and Madness (Of Monsters and Madness, #1) by Jessica Verday and another one that was kinda meh.

Also read Zac and Mia by A.J. Betts and I did like this one. This is kind of a cross between Fault in Our Stars and Elenor & Park. It wasn't as good, but I still enjoyed the read!

Now reading The Winner's Curse (The Winner's Trilogy, #1) by Marie Rutkoski and Let's Get Lost by Adi Alsaid both good so far!

I've heard good things about Lips Touch: Three Times, but I'm a bit skeptical because I didn't like Daughter of Smoke & Bone that much ... do you think it's better?

I got a signed copy of Let's Get Lost (and met the author) at BEA this past summer, but unfortunately I found it disappointing. I'm not a big fan of the whole "Manic Pixie Dream Girl" type of plot. :P But hopefully you like that one more than I did! I'm interested to hear your thoughts on it.

I was thinking the same thing Brigid because I was not in love with DOS&B either.

message 7684: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I think DoS&B is better, so if you didn't like that, I wouldn't recommend this one. I just love Laini Taylor's writing! The last book in that series was EPIC!

I am plowing through Isla & The Happily Ever After. This is the fastest I have read a book in months. I think I have less than 30 pages left so hope to wrap it up tonight. I will add that this is the heaviest library book I have read in awhile and it keeps making my wrists numb holding the book up! How did I ever read all those Harry Potter hard backs??!!

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I finally gave up on my two reads Rebel Belle (Rebel Belle, #1) by Rachel Hawkins and The Blood of Olympus (The Heroes of Olympus, #5) by Rick Riordan cause they were due back. I never really got attached to Rebel Belle's characters and for The Blood of Olympus, I think I'm better off reading the series straight through. There's just too much stuff that I've forgotten.

I did pick up The Thief (The Queen's Thief, #1) by Megan Whalen Turner and am enjoying it. It's similar to The False Prince which I loved. And I hear the next two Queen Thief books are even better.

message 7696: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
No worries on Rebel Belle Becky. I don't think anyone absolutely loved it here. I enjoyed The Thief - it actually predates the False Price so I read it first.

message 7697: by Ashley Marie (last edited Dec 17, 2014 12:29PM) (new)

Ashley Marie currently reading~

Croak (Croak, #1) by Gina Damico and loving it. added the other two books in the series to my Amazon cart :)

Sabriel (Abhorsen, #1) by Garth Nix I started this one last month and couldn't get into it for the life of me before it was due back to the library. Restarted it last night as part of a buddy read and I really like it so far.

Froi of the Exiles (Lumatere Chronicles, #2) by Melina Marchetta started last night as part of another buddy read and I'm waiting for things to really get going, I'm probably only 5% in though. It's nice to be back in Lumatere, since I last read Finnikin over the summer.
