W.J. - you nailed my thoughts too! I am vehemently against Insta-love in books and much prefer love stories that are built on time and mutual respect. That could be why DOS&B lost me in the second half because in the first part she was all on her own.

I need to get moving on the Dresden files Ashley. I own the first 3 Kindle books but for some reason have yet to start it.

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Finished Boil, David's sequel to Brew that comes out on Oct 1st, and LOVED it!!! Wonderful sequel!

Also finished The Naturals (The Naturals, #1) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes and really enjoyed it!

Starting Raging Star (Dust Lands, #3) by Moira Young

Kristen Taber | 506 comments lol. well I figured as much, but Jenny commented in between and I wanted to make sure it wasn't read as a comment on her comment. I'm totally a flake today!

No arguments from me Ashley, her writing flows over the pages like melted chocolate.

Ashley Marie @WJ yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasss

@Heidi Dresden is great! I think I've got the first 6 or 7 upstairs, it feels like a series I'm gonna rip through if I stick with it :) and there's no reason not to, he's a hilarious character

The first book is the best book out of the trilogy so far, so I'd say its a good thing you didn't keep reading! the second book really disappointed me. The third book is good so far, better than the second, not quite as good as the first.

message 7412: by Danniella (new)

Danniella Duff (danniellathepaganwitch) just finished Witch Finder (Witch Finder, #1) by Ruth Warburton Witch Finder (Witch Finder, #1) by Ruth Warburton now. Can't wait to find out what happens in the next book. I don't know which book to read now. I have 6 books unread and more on my kindle and Kobo. Hmmm choices, choices

Ashley Marie picked up Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #2) by Laini Taylor once I finished Dresden #2 earlier. somehow I wound up bored with this book when I picked it up a few months ago, hopefully it was just the mindset I was in at the time.

I am nearly done with We Were Liars and am really getting the Gone Girl vibe from it where I do not like or relate to any or the protagonists.

message 7422: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I just picked up Terrier yesterday for the Oct. read and found out that my inter-library loan came in today for The Naturals. So I guess they are my next two reads.

I have not heard of that one Oda. How is it?

Heidi *Listen. I'll just keep talking anyway. * wrote: "I have not heard of that one Oda. How is it?"

just 3 chapters into it but its good so far.
its been compared to buffy and in the early works to be a tv series.

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Started Terrier (Beka Cooper, #1) by Tamora Pierce . The story and the writing are fine. It's a bit darker than I expected, though.

I just finished The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business The Power of Habit Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business by Charles Duhigg and thought it was a really good non fiction read. I am nearing the end of Landline Landline by Rainbow Rowell and it is growing on me.

I skipped that series Darcy because I was warned I would not like it. I normally dislike YA paranormal books so whoever warned me was probably correct :)

I am starting Rebel Belle Rebel Belle (Rebel Belle, #1) by Rachel Hawkins on audio

Haha to be honest House of Night is one of my least favorite series I've ever read. Heidi, I think I can guarantee you would really dislike them. :P For a while I actually just read them to laugh at them, but at some point I couldn't take it anymore. There are all these cringe-worthy pop culture references in them ... oh and a ton of slut-shaming. :-/

Ashley Marie I second everything Brigid said. I loved HoN in high school mostly because it felt more edgy than Twilight, with the tattoos and everything, but there is way too much slut-shaming and the pop culture references make me roll my eyes now lol.
