I feel like there's been a recent deluge of first-pers..."
So there's two of us :D. Yay! And I think you hit the nail on the head. It's the present tense and the inundation that's probably getting to me.
Wow. I missed quite the chat! Kristen let me put it to you this way - Chaos has ruined me for almost all other Dystopian books. I have not loved any as much since and really shy away from reading them at this point. Also, as Brigid pointed out Chaos HAS to be first person. It just has to with the way the story is told. It would not make any sense as a third person book. Lastly, I also enjoyed Hunger Games and IMO Chaos kicks it's butt! Ok I am done for now :)
Yay! I will check back later. I would suggest you read at least the first two books back to back because I did not fall in love with the series until book two :)

Oh yay! I hope you like audio Kristen! You can read so many more books that way. I have listened to Looking for Alaska and Paper Towns on audio and both narrators do a good job (I think I gave both books 3 stars). Oh how I wish his book Will Grayson was in the pack because I LOVE LOVE LOVED it on audio!

Yeah, I happened to be on when the sale went live. When they did the Kindle versions last month, they sold out in something like 5 minutes.

If I manage to get into the audio books (mostly, I'm not in the car, so it depends on how well my toddler will react to them playing in the house), I'll be sure to pick up that one. I've heard some pretty amazing things about it.
I just started Catch a Falling Star
and The Hero's Guide to Storming the Castle
- both are on audio.

I just finished reading...
This was an ok book. I expected the book to be scarier! It was really different from my expectation!

Becky I only read the first book in that series and felt the same way. It was a good book but kind of creepy!

I have not heard of any of those! Are they all the same genre?

BECKY: It does get darker, but all still well written. I haven't finished reading the whole series, but you should at least read the next two books, they're just as gripping and captivating as the first. The series is similar to the HP books. It always end in a good note, but there is a bigger picture that needs to be resolved.
I have returned to my childhood and am listening to Matilda
on audiobook - only because it is narrated by the awesome Kate Winslet! To be honest I don't even think Matilda was released until I was older so I guess I am returning to someone else's childhood. hahaha

ahhhh Kate Winslet <3 I love her so much! I've actually never read Matilda, I may have to investigate this Kate Winslet audiobook...

I own the first book on audiobook but haven't gotten to it yet. I have wen t a little crazy with a lot of Audible sales this past year and have a ton of audiobooks to listen to!

I loved Timebound, Heidi. I have the audio but haven't listened yet. I was thinking of starting that one next.
But I did listen to the novella

I will let you know my thoughts on the narrator soon Karen. I just started it this morning so it will take me a day or two to get used to her.

Very good! I haven't read these series in ages -- did a reread of Alanna's quartet last year and restarted the Immortals set earlier this year -- but I love all three: these two and the Protector of the Small series. it seems like Tammy's writing gets better with every series. I need to reread the Trickster pair too, I really draw a blank when it comes to them.
Still haven't read the Beka Cooper books yet, but they're on the shelf waiting to be picked up :)

I listened to the first one on audio but could not connect with the main character. I know a lot of people love it though so I might not have been the best target audience.

I have had plans to read Becka Cooper for awhile but for some reason haven't yet. Is there a favorite series of the ones you have read you would recommend?

I'm really loving the Immortals series on the re-read, but I recall loving the Protector of the Small set as well -- Kel is the second female knight after Alanna.

I enjoyed the Protector of the Small series. The first book or two is more middle schoolish but the situations get more mature as Kel gets older. I have not read the Immortals series yet.

I read the first few chapters of the first book and actually found Artemis distasteful. Maybe he grows more likable as the series goes on but I wasn't patient enough to find out.

That sounds like Alanna - it gets more mature as she ages. I checked my library and they have the Becka Cooper series on audio so I think I am going to start there. Thanks ladies :)

Glad I am not alone in my thoughts on A. Fowl! I am so used to saying I didn't like something and others chime in on how great it was! How refreshing :)
Bluemoon what is that book about?? Are you not liking it?

dammit you're gonna be ahead of me *races*
Has anyone read The Eight Guardian
? I was looking at buying it for $3.99 and getting the whispersync audio.
