Is that one released yet Ashley? I just want to make sure it is easily accessible for other readers. Thanks!

I am all over the place with my reads right now. I am listening to Written in Red Written in Red (The Others, #1) by Anne Bishop and still listening to Partials (on the fence about it) and I am reading a cozy The Goodbye Witch The Goodbye Witch (A Wishcraft Mystery, #4) by Heather Blake

message 7063: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie Finnikin of the Rock is getting really good! I may have actually forgotten how interesting this book is. Trevanion is such a cool dad.

A Storm of Swords is still epic as heck.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is one where I have yet to see major faults. So many of the reviews are either love it or hate it, which I find intriguing.

Stealing Venice need to get back to this one, haven't read it in a few days. But I enjoy it too!

Karen how is Throne of Glass on audio?? I have the Kindle and think I can get the whispersync for cheap.

I was not crazy about Throne of Glass ... I've heard the sequel gets a lot better though so I might still give that one a shot.

We need at least one more monthly read rec. for Aug. so I can set up a poll (prefer 2 more if possible). Thanks! Here is the thread https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
I am about 70% into the Partials and still not sure how I feel about it. If it has a strong ending I might be swayed so I am reserving Judgement. I am nearly done with the audio of Written in Red Written in Red (The Others, #1) by Anne Bishop and it is seriously unlike anything I have read before. So weird. Good weird so far though. I am not sure why I dislike YA paranormal books but for some reason can get into certain Adult paranormal books (Fever series, Kate Daniels, Parasol Protectorate, etc..)

Karen’s Library | 574 comments Just started listening to Time's Echo (The Chronos Files, #1.5) by Rysa Walker and it's narrated by NICK PODEHL!!! *swoon* It's Rysa's novella and it's a reread for me, but just HAD to listen 1) because I loved this novella and 2) it's NICK PODEHL!!

It's only $3.47 on whispersync. I grabbed that up!!

message 7079: by Anne Marie (new)

Anne Marie | 4 comments Just read the new Green Rider book, (To those of you who have read it i would LOVE to have a little chat with you about how POINTLESS it was)
I also read The One, the last book in the selection series (Again, can we talk about how it was kind of written like fanfiction???)
I read a book called Cruel Beauty, which i LOVED because she ended up with the person i actually wanted her to!!
Just finished Shadow and Bone and can we talk about how in love with the Darkling i am? i know its wrong but its too late. Mal can just go away!

FINALLY i am reading a book called The Forbidden, by Sarah Mcdonald, and i have to tell you its AMAZING. It's brand new, i don't think you can get it in bookstores but you can order it on Amazon. i recommend it highly!!!

message 7081: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie Ooooh yeah I need to read Shadow & Bone as well. a few months back I splurged on Amazon and just picked up the first books in a lot of newer series -- Shadow & Bone, Cinder, Graceling, Code Name Verity, the Immortal Rules, Finnikin of the Rock, etc. I've finished half of them by now and I haven't been disappointed yet :)

No hurry Ashley - I have a ton of others to read for now!

Karen - Graceling is a MUST on audiobook :)

message 7090: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Taber | 506 comments Finished Mrs. Peregrine's. Not a huge fan (other than his writing style) and definitely won't be reading the second, but I found myself wishing I had more coast-to-coast flights. I loved the uninterrupted reading. Haven't had that since pre-kid. Lovely of hubby to watch the rug rat on the plane :). Must bake him a lovely meal as a thank you (and plan another flight soon...lol).

Glad you got some reading time Kristen! Sorry you were disappointed in the book. I was too tired to read last night so hopefully this weekend I can get through most of it so I can give my opinion.

message 7094: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Taber | 506 comments I'm sure I'm in the minority with it, but I'll share my reasons after everyone has read :).

message 7095: by Bridget (new)

Bridget (bridgethw) | 52 comments Hi all! I had to share what I am currently reading with you. It’s been a bit since I read a book that pulled me in from the beginning. Admittedly I had just finished City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6) by Cassandra Clare which took a very long time for me (like 2 months) because as much as I had enjoyed the story years ago when I started it, it just took too long to conclude and the final book was lackluster for me. So I was looking for a “one and done” and there was an Audible sale, maybe the daily deal not sure, but I got this The Girl with All the Gifts by M.R. Carey for $1.99. It gripped me from the beginning, has a great narrator and a unique (to me at least) story. If I had gotten into it sooner I would have nominated it for the monthly read, maybe for the September poll…
I’m starting the July read,Mrs. Peregrine's next, been on my TBR for a long time…

Also, I agree with Heidi, Graceling is one of my favorite audiobooks. I love full cast audio.

Bridget I could not get past the first MI book - I can not believe there are 6?? I thought the series was ending at 4?? Anywho, that Girls With All the Gifts sounds good. I entered to win it here on a GR Giveaway. :)

Anyone joining that new Kindle Unlimited? I already have too many books to read on my Kindle at this time but if they add more books and audiobooks later I might try it at least for a month or two.

message 7098: by Kristen (last edited Jul 19, 2014 05:40AM) (new)

Kristen Taber | 506 comments Not on the user end. Like you, I have way too many books on my TBR pile, but as an author it might be enough to make me drop other formats and use kindle exclusively so I can join the program. Looks promising.

Karen - if you read this Audible is having a "kid sale" and I highly recommend The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom (The League of Princes, #1) by Christopher Healy - I think it is only $2.95. It is narrated by Bronson Pinchot (from Perfect Strangers for people as old as me!) and he does a great job IMO.
