Kristina (kristinalawhead) Really? I can see that, I went to read the reviews on it and there are TON of one star ratings. Usually I don't pay much attention to that but there are so many I was like hmm. I wouldn't say that I read a ton of paranormal stuff so I don't know what I'll think of it

I didn't want to say people hated it, but it seems like several on here have! I am skipping it.

Bluemoon - I have to know what happens to Todd and Viola. The second book is from both of their points of view. I told Kourtni that I despise Mayor Prentiss more than President Snow!

P.S. If you haven't read Water for Elephants, you need to. It is SO good!

message 654: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Kristina- I decided to skip Fallen as well. I don't think I've heard one good thing about it.

Bluemoon- Water for Elephants was excellent! I highly recommend it.

message 655: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) Okay due to all the horrible reviews and after reading 60 pages of Fallen and not being interested, and reading spoilers that told me the entire book was a waste with no action, I decided to start something new! I always feel bad not finishing a book, and I don't do it very often but this was 452 pages of apparently wasted time so, oh well! Maybe someday when my to-read list isn't 250+ books long I'll pick it up again :)

I started Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn last night and am 1/3 through, I really like it! It's a really clever story and I like the writing style of the authors, and I've always wanted to visit NYC during Christmas time so I love the setting!

Kristina Dash & Lilly is a much better pick!

message 657: by Roshini (new)

Roshini Heidi I wrote: "Kristina Dash & Lilly is a much better pick!"

I agree! I loved it!

message 658: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) I loved it too! It was so cute and unique, I loved the writing style and the funny parts :)

Now I'm reading Trapped by Michael Northrop

message 659: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Kristina have you read Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins or Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson ? If you liked Dash & Lilly you would probably like either of those.
p.s. you are going from a light book to one that looks more intense!

message 660: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) Heidi, no I haven't read either of those! I've heard of Anna but couldn't decide if it was really my thing, and I've never heard of Amy & Roger but I will check them out! And yes, totally doing a 180 haha! I have a huge pile of library books here cause I can never decide what I'll be in the mood for :)

message 661: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
You must read Anna! It is most excellent :)

I am listening to Reunion (The Mediator, #3) by Meg Cabot and So Yesterday by Scott Westerfeld both on audio.

message 663: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) I finished reading "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Teacher Tales by Jack Canfield. I am almost halfway through "The Lost Hero" by Rick Riordan. I've started reading "Vanishing Acts" by Jodi Picoult.

message 664: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) Ashley - Vanishing Acts is my FAVORITE Jodi Picoult book! I loved it so much! Plain Truth is also one of my faves

Anyone have any opinions?"

I thought it was all right. Fun read but not very many good characters ... and not really memorable, considering I'm having trouble remembering what happened in it. haha. XD

Bluemoon wrote: "SHANNEN: I can't believe you jumped right in to the second one. Up until now I still can't bring myself to buy the second one because Manchee isn't in it :(

But Todd and Viola and a bunch of other awesome characters are still in it!!! And it's frikkin amazing! :D

message 667: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) Distant Waves by Suzanne Weyn I've only read like 2 pages so far but I think I'm going to like it! I gave up on Fallen, I couldn't get into the story and almost everyone hated it so I thought I'd pick it up some other time when I've whittled down my TBR list a little haha

Just finished Real Live Boyfriends Yes. Boyfriends, Plural. If My Life Weren't Complicated, I Wouldn't Be Ruby Oliver (Ruby Oliver, #4) by E. Lockhart - what a great little series. I am glad it was only 4 books and did not go on and on like some series do.

message 669: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm about halfway through The Ask and the Answer (Chaos Walking, #2) by Patrick Ness . The Spackle parts of the book are so sad. Todd seems to be getting complacent with the treatment of the Spackle. I hope that's not the case.

Going to the library at lunch to pick up The Boyfriend List 15 Guys, 11 Shrink Appointments, 4 Ceramic Frogs and Me, Ruby Oliver (Ruby Oliver, #1) by E. Lockhart . Couldn't bring myself to pay $9 for the Kindle version.

message 670: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
$9.00! I think it is under 300 pages. That is ridiculous. p.s. poor Todd.

message 671: by [deleted user] (new)

I thought it was ridiculous too. I've been wanting to read the last book in the VA series but so far, I'm refusing to pay $11 for the Kindle version.

P.S. I'm hoping Todd figures out to eat the Spackles food to quiet his Noise and get away. Will he ever learn to control his Noise?

Never fear Shannen! What would a book be without struggles? I am missing Todd and Viola. What a great set of protganists btw.

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Finished Torn (Trylle Trilogy, #2) by Amanda Hocking and Ascend (Trylle Trilogy, #3) by Amanda Hocking this weekend and started Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews last night.

I really enjoyed the Trylle series quite a bit but I had one major problem that made me drop the rating of the last book. Overall though it was really good!

Magic Burns is very entertaining so far.

The Kate Daniels series gets better by the book IMO. That Kate sure is a smart a**. I am listening to The Piper's Son by Melina Marchetta - I have a new crush people. Something about those Aussie accents just gets to me. Oh well...at least it is a guy this time!

message 680: by Roshini (new)

Roshini Finished Delirium (Delirium, #1) by Lauren Oliver . Think it was a bit better than Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver . Now it's going to be a long wait till the sequel comes out.

message 681: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
I thought Before I Fall was overrated, so you are saying Delirium was better??

message 682: by Roshini (new)

Roshini Just slightly :-) That being said, it ends with a major cliffhanger, and the next book is only out next year, I believe. So no rush to read it. There's more to the story than Before I Fall, but only time (and the sequel) will tell if there's a proper conclusion to the story.

Kristina (kristinalawhead) Currently reading Invitation to the Game by Monica Hughes It's an old book from 1990, my friend loved it when she was little and let me borrow it

message 686: by Roshini (new)

Roshini Not at all. Before I Fall is sort of a groundhog day - girl repeats the same day 7 times. Delirium is dystopian - set in the future where love is a disease and teens get cured on their 18th birthday.

:( That's awful! I think Brittany is going to be in the same boat as you soon.

I'm reading Monsters of Men (Chaos Walking, #3) by Patrick Ness and have The Boy Book A Study of Habits and Behaviors, Plus Techniques for Taming Them (Ruby Oliver, #2) by E. Lockhart waiting for me at the library. I have to say that it has been rough reading all the Chaos books back to back to back. I don't think I'll be doing that again with such a heavy series.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 148 comments Shh Shannen. For now let me be in a state of denial.

I should be finishing City of Ashes and Water for Elephants on audio both tonight. I only have about 1/2 of a disc left.

So soon I'll be starting East of Eden because I've heard it's great and Lioness Rampant to finish up the Alanna series. It's SO good.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Yippeeee ^_^

message 697: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 732 comments Brigid I have been pondering a Harry Potter re-read marathon. I might just have to do that soon!

Brittany such great books!! City of Ashes and Water for Elephants, some of my very favorites!!

Shannen I didn't read them all back to back. I think I took a big break after KoNLG because the whole Manchee thing upset me, but I did read the last two back to back. They were just so stinkin good! But yes, very heavy.

Yea! Someone else has read this book! This was one of my favorites when I was in middle school.

I'm currently reading Tunnels (Tunnels, #1) by Roderick Gordon and Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell . Doesn't the cover of Gone With the Wind make it look like a trashy romance novel? :)

message 699: by Heidi (new)

Shannen what did you think of Ruby's first book? I loved books 3 & 4 the most in that series.

Sorry Kourtni!

Julie that cover is trashy!
