Hey Brigid - I think you were right to steer me away from The Testing. I am on disk 5 out of 11 and just don't care about it. I am enjoying Pushing the Limits so far though.

message 6257: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Heidi, The Testing got better at the end and set things up nicely for the sequel. I haven't read the sequel, yet though. It comes out in January I think. So happy you like Pushing the Limits!

WTG for Fire Country!

I will give it a little more time then but I just really don't care about the protag at all so far and it seems like a rip off of all the other dystopian books I have read. I wonder if I am just not into dystopian that much anymore. Damn you Chaos Walking! You spoiled everything.

message 6259: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
Yeah, I felt the same way about it––that it was mostly just taking elements from a bunch of other dystopian books and mixing them together. Haha and yeah, I still haven't been able to find a dystopian book/series that impressed me as much as Chaos Walking did!

Thanks all!!! The Moon Dwellers hit 30,000 but Fire Country will fall just short. But it's still a huge success!! Thanks to everyone for helping to get the word out, especially my Street Team (you know who you are!)

Thanks Seth! I really want to make it free everywhere, but unfortunately a Kindle is the only one that makes it easy to do that on a specific date at a specific time. Nook needs to come up with a way to do this and I'll definitely make it free!

Amreen | 33 comments I just finished The Luxe (Luxe, #1) by Anna Godbersen

I'm unsure about what I should read next... I completley abandoned Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine, #1) by Ransom Riggs and My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult halfway through but now I'm wondering if I should go back to them?

message 6268: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Miss Peregrine was so good, definitely finish it!!

message 6269: by Kaylani (new)

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments Started and finished The Reptile Room The Reptile Room (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #2) by Lemony Snicket

Started The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe and am almost done.

Almost done with The Time Machine by H.G. Wells.

Definitely go back to Miss Peregrine's!!!

Will probably go to Harry Potter #4 after I'm done with the lion, witch, wardrobe and H.G. Wells. Unless I decide to do #3 of the Unfortunate Events series.

message 6270: by Kaylani (new)

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments Finished time machine and lion, witch, wardrobe.

Think I'm going to read Stargirl and Ender's Game

and then go to Harry Potter #4

I gave up on The Testing. Sorry! It went from a rip off of Divergent/Delirium and then all of sudden it was the Hunger Games. Not for me. I am very picky though so could see why others would like it.

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I'm halfway through Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer and finally got The House of Hades (The Heroes of Olympus, #4) by Rick Riordan from the library. Apparently I'll have to inter-library loan Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2) by Marissa Meyer sometime. I think I'll wait until I get the Lumatere books, though. (They haven't come in yet but should be in soon.)

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments Grace and the Drawl by Dale Cusack .. found it randomly on my nook for free and it is really good so far. I was surprised.

message 6277: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Also finished Far Far Away by Tom McNeal and IT WAS AMAZING....unlike anything I've read. Felt like a gold old fashioned dark fairy tale, but also modern. I teared up at the end..the characters actually reminded me of Leisel and Rudy from The Book Thief. Beautiful, fun 5 star read!

Also finished a reread of Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer love it!

Next up is my reread of Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2) by Marissa Meyer

Amreen | 33 comments I finished Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine, #1) by Ransom Riggs and I liked it better than I expected. I had thought it was a stand-alone and when there was only about 20 pages left I was like, "How is this going to resolve? ! There's not enough pages!" Then I found out there's a sequel haha oops.

Now I'm re-reading Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins before I go to the movie premiere this week! SO EXCITED!

I also picked up Unwind (Unwind, #1) by Neal Shusterman which I will re-read because I want to finish the rest of the series.

Along with that I got Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna, #1) by Kendare Blake which I read the first few pages of it when they're traveling to Thunder Bay, Ontario (yay, Canada!) and it seems really good so I'll have to get around to that aswell.

Anyone want to buddy-read World After (the sequel to Angelfall) with me?! It came out yesterday! I probably won't get to it for at least a few days ... but I figured some people in this group might be reading it and I will most likely need someone to freak out with me. XD

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I think I'm having a hard time focusing & finishing on books right now. I have Cinder, The House of Hades and just got Froi of the Exiles. I'm halfway through Cinder, 1/3 through House of Hades and a chapter into Froi. I did just do a quick skim of Finnikin and remembered how much I really enjoyed it so I'll probably focus on Froi for now. I'm usually not so scattered when it comes to reading.
