David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 836 comments Reading And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini Loved the first two books by this author so hoping I like this one too!

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I'm rereading The False Prince (The Ascendance Trilogy, #1) by Jennifer A. Nielsen :) Couldn't help it, I really wanted to disappear back in that world after all this talk with Jennifer!

Ahh I know, right?! It's very different from the other books in the series but I'm also loving it. :)

I concur the second book in The False Prince was good.

Brigid I am enjoying Final Descent too.

message 6216: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenwesner) I'm going between Insurgent (Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth and Prodigy (Legend, #2) by Marie Lu both on audio right now, trying to refresh before reading Allegiant (Divergent, #3) by Veronica Roth and Champion (Legend, #3) by Marie Lu .
I have to say I'm probably much more excited about Champion. I also picked up All You Desire (Eternal Ones, #2) by Kirsten Miller but I may put that aside for Starters (Starters, #1) by Lissa Price or The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder . Not sure.

message 6217: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished reading Shadowlands (Shadowlands, #1) by Kate Brian and I really liked it, huge twist at the end! I have the sequel as an eARC, and I can't wait to read it!

Also finished my reread of The False Prince (The Ascendance Trilogy, #1) by Jennifer A. Nielsen and it was just as good, if not better, the second time!

message 6218: by Heidi (new)

Yay Jenny! I liked it too! Great ending IMO.

Jen please let me know your thoughts on The Probability of Miracles. It looks interesting to me every time I see it.

Just starting Pushing the Limits Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1) by Katie McGarry and The Testing The Testing (The Testing, #1) by Joelle Charbonneau - both on audio.

Finished Final Descent - that book was crazy!

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
Ahhh I still haven't finished The Final Descent. I should get on that. I've just had so much homework lately. >_<

I read an ARC of The Testing and wasn't a big fan of it, but maybe you'll like it more than I did, haha. And I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on Pushing the Limits ... I'm not sure whether I want to read that one or not.

message 6222: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Yeah I remembered you were not a fan of the Testing Brigid so I am going in not expecting too much. I will let you know my thoughts on both books.

message 6223: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished Champion (Legend, #3) by Marie Lu and I LOVED it!! 5 star read, and a great ending to the trilogy!

Almost done with Never Fade (The Darkest Minds, #2) by Alexandra Bracken and I'm loving it as well. Also getting to start a reread of The Runaway King (The Ascendance Trilogy, #2) by Jennifer A. Nielsen

message 6224: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I liked the Testing okay, although I thought it could have been better. LOVED Pushing the Limits!

Yeah I know you loved Pushing Limits Jenny - you are one of the people who talked me into checking it out. So far it is reminding me a little of Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1) by Simone Elkeles , which I was not a fan of, but it seems like it has more depth (that was one of my issues with PC - it lacked depth and was very stereotypical).

Anywho I am giving it a fair shake. The Testing seems like a rip off of several other dystopian novels so far but I am only just starting.

Jenny I hope you enjoy your re-read of Runaway King. I skipped Legend for some reason (someone told me it was not for me I am pretty sure). How is the Darkest Minds series?

message 6226: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Really good, I really love it! Finished Never Fade (The Darkest Minds, #2) by Alexandra Bracken Great 5 star dystopian! These books are very intense.

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 836 comments Jenny wrote: "So cool! I finally got a copy of And the Mountains Echoed--at my library book sale! Brand new hardcover for only $2!!! Woot!"

Ah cool! It's quite different than his first two books but the stories are so moving that I'm really enjoying it :)

message 6228: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenwesner) I'm a bit less than halfway through Allegiant (Divergent, #3) by Veronica Roth . Honestly? It's a bit slow at this point. Maybe it's because I'm chomping to get through it so I can read Champion (Legend, #3) by Marie Lu . Heidi I'll let you know about The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder . I may try and get to that this week.

Katie.g I'm reading Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor. Love it so far. Was worried that it wouldn't be as good as the first. So glad I was wrong. Practically bouncing up and down on the edge of my seat.

I thought it read pretty fast, but then again, I wasn't waiting to read Champion!! Champion is 20 times better than Allegiant! I'm so happy one of my favorite trilogies ended so well!

message 6232: by Karen’s Library (new)

Karen’s Library | 574 comments I'm rereading Legend (Legend, #1) by Marie Lu and then Prodigy (Legend, #2) by Marie Lu before starting Champion (Legend, #3) by Marie Lu

I want to be sure I know every little tidbit before Champion. My brain seems to spit out details of books after I've read them lately. I can remember some but not everything. (Old age..) Hahahh.. Or maybe I'm just so overworked I can only keep a certain amount of things in my brain before other things fall out. (Didn't that happen to Christina Applegate's character on Married with Children.)

message 6233: by Seth (new)

Seth (ninjaaaaaofwritingbooks) | 240 comments All this talk of Champion ... I want to read it so badly. But Karen, I seem to be having similar problems as you. I can't remember ANYTHING that happens in Prodigy. Besides the fact I thought it was strange, and really really good.

message 6234: by Karen’s Library (last edited Nov 10, 2013 09:46AM) (new)

Karen’s Library | 574 comments Thank goodness I enjoy rereads almost as much as reading them the first time! I had to do this with Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth Insurgent (Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth and Allegiant (Divergent, #3) by Veronica Roth too.

message 6235: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I love rereads as well, but I had no problem remember the events in Divergent and Insurgent, as well as Legend and Prodigy. Legend and Prodigy especially stuck in my head and now Champion will too!

I defiantly wish I would have re-read Froi of the Exiles and Finnikin of the Rockbefore I went further in that series- I was so lost!

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I just finished up Fyre and am a little sad to say good-bye to that series. I'm excited to see that she is doing a spinoff series, though. I also read Reap.

I started Cinder and am trying to shift into sci-fi mode. I haven't read anything with robots and stuff in awhile.

I still haven't read Froi of the Exiles. I have to inter-library loan it. Maybe I'll borrow Finnikin again and put in my loan request for both Froi and Quintana.

message 6244: by Karen’s Library (new)

But... I'm going to stay up late and download my free copy of Fire Country (The Country Saga, #1) by David Estes on my Kindle app as soon as it hits Amazon. Hope I can stay awake! ;-P
